Come Dwell in Solomon's Walls — Z. Randall Stroope Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. God gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. #102 Now Thank We All Our God — NUN DANKET I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. #71 Glory Be to the Father — GREATOREX Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen. Dear friends, this building, which by the favor of God and human labor has been so far completed, embodies the obligation of each generation to impart its treasures of wisdom and knowledge to the generation following. For the fulfillment of this task we need not only the best that we can do but above all the blessing of almighty God. Let us, therefore, bring praise for God’s aid in this undertaking, giving thanks for those who, by their gifts of their service, shall unite in fulfilling the purpose for which this building is prepared. Amen. (Children, kindergartners through third grade, are invited to exit the Sanctuary for Children’s Worship. Children will return to reserved pews in the Sanctuary at the close of worship.) 3

GOD'S WORD PROCLAIMED CANTICLE

All That I Am — William Grant Still All that I am, all I ever can be I owe to You, Lord, for you have molded me. All that I have, all that I call mine I owe to You, Lord, for all things are Thine. You are the source of light: Light that’s offered all men. In Your wisdom You give to each his due. You are the source of love: Love that binds in brotherhood. In Your love and mercy I find lasting peace. All that I love, all that’s dear to me, all of my blessings come, my Lord, from Thee. All that I own, all that belongs to me, all I surrender, my Lord, to Thee.

SCRIPTURE Deuteronomy 6:3-9

Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe them diligently, so that it may go well with you, and so that you may multiply greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead, and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (NRSV) This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Almighty and most merciful God, from you comes every good and perfect gift. We give you praise and thanks for all your mercies. Your goodness has created us, your bounty has sustained us, your discipline has chastened us, your patience has borne with us, your love has redeemed us. Give us a heart to love and serve you, and enable us to show our thankfulness for all your goodness and mercy by giving up ourselves to your service, and cheerfully submitting in all things to your blessed will; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

CONSECRATION OF BUILDING PRESENTATION OF BUILDING

We present this building to be consecrated to the glory of almighty God and for service in the preparation of God’s people for discipleship. We give thanks for those who have worked diligently to bring this vision into a reality for our future.

ACT OF CONSECRATION

Dear friends, it is with joy that we gather to consecrate this building. But the consecration of this building is vain without the consecration of those whose gifts it represents. Let us give ourselves anew to the service of God: our minds, that they may be renewed after the image of Christ; our bodies, that they may be fit temples for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; and our labors, that they may be according to God’s will, and that their fruit may glorify God’s name and serve God’s eternal purposes. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit (in the name of the holy and triune God), we consecrate this building. With a vision for a church where children shall learn to love God and grow in grace and goodness, and in favor with God and all people, we consecrate this building. With a vision for a church where youth shall be inspired to pray and serve, we consecrate this building. With a vision for a church where the weary and heavy laden shall find inner peace that the world can neither give nor take away, we consecrate this building. With a vision for a church where God is worshiped in prayer and praise, where the Word of God shall be so read and preached that it shall become the living Word, and the Sacraments so celebrated that all life shall become sacramental, we consecrate this building. With a vision for a church where multitudes shall be refreshed in spirit, relieved from pain, released from bondage, and redeemed from sin, we consecrate this building. With a vision for a church where the grace of God may make our human lives into a Christlike love and our homes places of living witness for that realm where Christ is Lord, we consecrate this building. With a vision for a church from which, by the power of your Holy Spirit, your people are sent forth into this community and all the world as champions of justice and peace to all peoples, we consecrate this building; and we consecrate ourselves anew to that service of humanity in which we perform the true service of God.

CLOSING PRAYER

Almighty God, hear us who gather here to consecrate ourselves to your service. Grant that those who come here, whether as leaders, staff, teachers, or students, may come with inquiring minds, honest purpose, and steadfast endeavor to do your holy will. We give thanks to you for all your servants, our parents, teachers, benefactors, and friends, by whose love and devotion we have come into our great inheritance of health, truth, and faith. Help us guard this treasure, be blessed by it, nurture it, and pass it on to the coming generation, that they may serve you; in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
