WELCOME TO WORSHIP

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

(Children, kindergartners through third grade, are invited to exit the Sanctuary for Children’s Worship. Children will return to reserved pews in the Sanctuary at the close of worship.)

WE HEAR THE WORD PROCLAIMED

†CALL TO WORSHIP

The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

The Lord is good to all, his compassion is over all his creation. All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord, And your faithful ones shall bless you! They speak of the glory of your kingdom, And tell of your power, To make known to all people your mighty deeds, And the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And your dominion endures throughout all generations. (Psalm 145: 8-13)

†HYMN OF PROCESSION #368 My Hope Is Built — THE SOLID ROCK

†AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation or distress, or persecution or famine, or nakedness or peril or sword?

No! In all things we are more than conquerors through the One who loved us. We are sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Thanks be to God! Amen.

†GLORIA PATRI

#71 Glory Be to the Father — GREATOREX

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

SERMON — “Peace and Hope”

WE RENEW OUR COMMITMENT

OFFERTORY

To Sing Once More — Craig Courtney Awake our souls to sing once more the songs that long have silent been. From troubled nights and fearful days, our notes of praise and joy begin.

Inspired by hope, compelled by grace, we sing Your everlasting praise. Most holy God, Your song we seek and trust in your unchanging ways.

With comfort, Your eternal voice is music to our fainting soul. It speaks in times of hurt and wrong, it whispers peace, it makes us whole.

Arise, his children, rise again, your God and maker now adore. No longer silent, lift your voice, awake your souls to sing once more. Awake our souls to sing once more. Amen.

†DOXOLOGY #95 Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow — OLD 100th Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below; praise God above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

†PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Receive these offerings, O Lord. We give you thanks for the blessings which you have bestowed upon us. We pray these gifts, the employment of our talents, the labor of our hands, the prayers of our hearts, and the witness of our lives will show the world the magnitude of your love and grace. Let us put you first in our lives. Use us this week to build your Kingdom. We ask this in the name of Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever more. Amen.

WE GO AS GOD’S PEOPLE INTO THE WORLD
