WELCOME TO WORSHIP
†GLORIA PATRI
#71 Glory Be to the Father — GREATOREX
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.
Prayers Of The People
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
OFFERTORY
Beyond Borders — Tom Shelton
If only I could make a difference bringing peace to the world. If only I could make a difference for one child. If only I could change the way people live, help those forgotten. If I could hold an orphaned baby, make them smile. It’s all about Love. Love of those we cannot see, Love of those forgotten. Strength to carry them through the day. Reaching out a helping hand, crossing beyond borders. Loving the unloved, Show them the way. It’s all about Love. Asante. Karibu. Pole. Amani. Asante means thank you, we are grateful. Karibu means you’re welcome in this world. Pole means I’m sorry, I surrender my pride. Amani brings peace to every boy and girl. It’s all about love, Amani means peace. No one starving. No one lonely. No child alone. No child unloved.
†DOXOLOGY
FIFTH SUNDAY IN LENT • MARCH 26, 2023 • 11:00AM
The Community Gathers
The prelude signifies the beginning of worship. You are invited to be in a spirit of prayer and meditation. Please silence all mobile communication devices.
Vater unser im Himmelreich — Georg Böhm
All Things Bright and Beautiful — Philip E. Silvey
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small. All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God that made them all. Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings, He made their glowing colors, and made their tiny wings. The purple headed mountains, The rivers running by, The sunset and the morning that brightens up the sky. He made all things well. All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small. All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God that made them all.
GREETING
INTROIT
Cantate Domino — arr. Nancy Hill Cobb
Sing to the Lord, Sing a new song! Sing to the Lord, sing all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless His Name! Sing to the Lord, His glory proclaim. Alleluia!
†CALL TO WORSHIP
Merciful God, who by the death and resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ delivered and saved the world: Grant that by faith in him who suffered on the cross, we may triumph in the power of his victory. We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
†HYMN OF PROCESSION
#733 Marching to Zion — MARCHING TO ZION
†AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
We are not alone, we live in God’s world. We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God. We are called to be the church: to celebrate God’s presence, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God. Amen.
BAPTISM
BAPTISMAL RESPONSE
Do you as Christ’s body, the church, reaffirm both your rejection of sin and your commitment to Christ? We do.
Will you nurture one another in the Christian faith and life and include Dylan, now before you, in your care?
With God’s help we will proclaim the good news and live according to the example of Christ. We will surround Dylan with a community of love and forgiveness, that he may grow in his service to others. We will pray for him, that he may be a true disciple who walks in the way that leads to life.
#95 Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow — OLD 100th Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below; praise God above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
†PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Most holy and gracious God accept these gifts from our hearts. May they be used to share the message of your love with a world that is hurting. May these gifts shine like light in the darkness offering hope, and peace. May we offer ourselves and dedicate our lives to your service this week using our talents and time to build your kingdom. All this we pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
WE GO AS GOD’S PEOPLE INTO THE WORLD

(Children, kindergartners through third grade, are invited to exit the Sanctuary for Children’s Worship. Children will return to reserved pews in the Sanctuary at the close of worship.)
CANTICLE
We Hear The Word Proclaimed
My Eternal King — Jane Marshall
My God, I love Thee; not because I hope for heav’n thereby, nor yet because who love Thee not must die eternally. Thou, O my Jesus, Thou didst me upon the cross embrace; for me didst bear the nails, the nails and spear, and manifold disgrace. Why, then why, O blessed Jesus Christ, should I not love Thee well? Not for the hope of winning heav’n, or of escaping hell; not with the hope of gaining aught, not seeking a reward; but as Thyself hast loved me, o ever-loving Lord! E’en so I love Thee, and will love, and in Thy praise will sing; solely because Thou art my God, and my Eternal King.
SCRIPTURE — Matthew 10:1-15
This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.
SERMON — “Disciple: A Purposeful Heart”
†HYMN #181 Ye Servants of God — HANOVER
