GREETING CALL TO WORSHIP (In Unison)
HYMN (found on page six)
Lift us up, O Lord, that we may see your face If we stumble and fall remind us that you are in front of us, leading the way When our footsteps grow heavy We will find rest in you When we are tempted to turn away Your strength will keep us planted When our spirits falter Your light will lift us We thank you, O Lord, for the grace you have given us Your love is the foundation on which we build our lives #540 I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord — ST. THOMAS
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
After each prayer, the leader may conclude: Lord, in your mercy. All may respond: Hear our prayer.
SOLO
The Lord's Prayer — Albert Hay Malotte Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen

WE HEAR THE WORD PROCLAIMED SCRIPTURE Matthew 16:21-28
From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he had to go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and legal experts, and that he had to be killed and raised on the third day. Then Peter took hold of Jesus and, scolding him, began to correct him: “God forbid, Lord! This won’t happen to you.” But he turned to Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan. You are a stone that could make me stumble, for you are not thinking God’s thoughts but human thoughts.” Then Jesus said to his disciples, “All who want to come after me must say no to themselves, take up their cross, and follow me. All who want to save their lives will lose them. But all who lose their lives because of me will find them. Why would people gain the whole world but lose their lives? What will people give in exchange for their lives? For the Son of Man is about to come with the majesty of his Father with his angels. And then he will repay each one for what that person has done. I assure you that some standing here won’t die before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” (CEB) This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

OFFERTORY
The Kingdom — André Thomas Righteousness, peace, joy in the Holy Ghost, that’s the Kingdom of God. Don’t you want to be a part of the Kingdom? Come on ev’rybody! Oh, yes, there’s joy in the Kingdom! Oh, yes, there’s peace in the Kingdom! Oh, yes, there’s love in the Kingdom! Come on ev’rybody! The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness therof. We are part of the earth, and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters, the deer, the horse, the great eagle, these are our brothers. All things are connected. Rivers our brothers, earth our mother. The earth is the Lord’s.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Loving God, without You we would be nothing. Help us to give back to others in the way that you have given to us. Your love guides us, protects us, and models for us the ways in which we are called to live. All that we are and all that we have is yours. May our offerings be just part of what we give to you this day and always, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
