Caribbean 2014 Resources for schools and colleges
education.cambridge.org/caribbean
Welcome to our 2014 Caribbean catalogue At the end of my first year looking after the Caribbean I would like to thank all our representatives for their efforts in a challenging economic climate. Despite this we have had another successful year especially with the sales of our specific publishing for the CSEC速 and CAPE速 exa minations. During the past year we have had enquiries for electronic versions of our publications which we are looking to provide in e-Book format over the next year to meet the rising demand. So please do keep in touch regarding your requirements. We want to ensure you continue to receive the resources and the support you want, so with this in mind we have a new review area online at education.ca mbridge.org/review where you can provide your feedback on publishing for the Caribbean titles as well as any suggestions for new titles. We value your opinion and promise to listen, so please do take a couple of minutes to share your thoughts with us. I hope you enjoy reading our catalogue and I look forward to meeting some of you on my forthcoming trips to the Islands. I would like to wish you every success for 2014 and thank you for your continued support. Best wishes,
Leonore Sears Regional Manager, The Caribbean

This book is an exploration of the rich diversity of theatrical traditions in sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean. •
Including a rich collection of photographs, the book traces the ancient and complex roots of African theatre still evident in community festivals and religious rituals through the centuries of colonial domination, to the African diaspora and its manifestation in Caribbean theatre. •
Drawing upon the parent Cambridge Guide to Theatre, material is updated and refocused to offer a specific view of traditional and contemporary theatre activity in over 40 countries.

Making mistakes
Coding Club characters provide handy hints and comments
Did you get a syntax error? Syntax errors are very common when typing in code (as are other errors). If you make one or two it is not your fault. It is because although computers are fast, they can also be a bit stupid. If there are any tiny mistakes in your code, they panic and produce error messages. These messages try to explain to you what the problem is but they are often difficult to understand.
Am I a syntax error? I do not make errors.
Colons, brackets, speech marks, apostrophes and spelling of Python words have to be just right. Although we can read imperfect sentences, computers cannot. Whether or not you got any errors, try this Quick Quiz.
Which of these lines of code are correct? 1 Print("Hello world!") 2 print("Hello world!") 3 print(Hello world!) 4 print "Hello world!"
Quick Quizzes help you become a great coder
Notice how the coloured text helps you spot code that is not going to work. All the code listings in this book use the same coloured text as in IDLE’s standard display. This should help you to spot bugs in your code.
