Every person has their own unique experiences that make them who they are. The difference is when people choose whether or not to learn from these unique moments. I feel that I have learned a lot from my unique moments and see these experiences poor into my designs.

boston light museum By using and controlling natural light I created a museum of varying experiences. With the Newbury St. site I focused on a natural circulation in which one follows light up, and around an atrium from a dark space to a space full of light.

bicycle storage center This design is a prototype for a storage, locker and shower facility for businesses to install for their employees. In my design I made the bike rack become the enclosure. Using a modular structure it creates bike racks for the employees as well as giving back to the general public.

bicycle manufacturing facility For this project I was given the client of Seven Cycles, a small, high quality bicycle company. I had the opportunity to visit Seven in their current location, watch them work and ask questions. I saw a need to bring the employees of the company together through the common interest of cycling.

photography Photography is more than just representing a place or a moment in time, it is also a representation of a feeling or experience.

funerary chapel competion For this competition we worked in teams to create a funerary chapel and memorial garden with a focus on a connection to nature. My partner, Brooke Spaulding, and I set out to create a tidal garden that would bring out the cycles of the ocean.

site section 1’ : 1/16” a funerary chapel and memorial garden The experience of Moon Island is largely of the ocean. The tidal garden allows celebrants to experience marine life rst-hand. A canal between the columbarium and chapel measures the tidal movement of the water. The chapel acts not only as a participartici pant with the measuring of tidal time, but also as a place to contemplate the giving and unsparing nature of the ocean as a metaphor for the life- death cycle.

a retreat For a retreat in the woods of western Massachusetts I used the flow of a neighboring river as a natural form of circulation. Cutting into the gently sloping site, the pathway takes you into the house to all the main spaces and out to the patio. The organization of the house is based on the time of usage in relation to the sun.

drawing Through the design process the ability of being able to put my thoughts and ideas onto paper is a very valuable asset. Thinking through drawing leads me to design solutions.

For this design we were given the challenge of creating a completely self sufficient , year round rooftop pavilion in both Cairo and in Boston. Through controlling the air movement we were able to use natural ventilation, cooling, and thermal massing. Using the heat of the sunlight during the winter and using reflective light during the summer were features we employed to achieve the best possible results.
