Há 27 anos, o Festival Curta Cinema é a principal vitrine para o cinema em curta-metragem no Rio de Janeiro e uma das mais importantes na América Latina. Sua principal tarefa é mostrar a vitalidade, diversidade e potencial que o formato curta-metragem tem para o desenvolvimento da indústria do audiovisual nacional e internacional. Com a resiliência necessária para enfrentar as dificuldades e intempéries que surgem a cada momento, mantemos este trabalho com a mesma paixão da primeira edição. Ao longo dos anos, trilhamos um caminho repleto de conquistas, ajudando na divulgação e promoção do formato junto a um público que teria pouco acesso a essas produções, não fosse a realização desta importante janela de exibição. Atualmente, o cenário cultural brasileiro passa por grandes dificuldades; reflete o delicado momento econômico e político pelo qual passa nossa sociedade. Ao invés de nos desmotivar, o estado de coisas nos estimula a seguir, na esperança de que os desafios possam ser superados com inteligência e serenidade. Para podermos atravessar este momento, marcando nossa posição como importante agente cultural na promoção da curta-metragem, tivemos que apresentar uma versão mais enxuta e um pouco menor que as anteriores. Dos quase quatro mil filmes inscritos, selecionamos um representativo grupo de 150 títulos. Foi a mais difícil de todas as nossas seleções, sendo necessário deixar de fora centenas de obras que gostaríamos muito exibir neste ano de 2017. A programação segue a estrutura que consagrou o modelo do festival, com suas duas mostras competitivas (nacional e internacional) e seus panoramas de divulgação da produção local (carioca e latino-americano). Completando a programação, temos o Foco Suíça; o país homenageado desta edição tem realizado algumas das produções mais significativas da cena europeia. Com forte caráter cosmopolita, seus filmes têm ganhado espaço nos mais importantes festivais do mundo, e alguns já foram exibidos no Festival Curta Cinema em mostras competitivas e programas especiais. Este foco está sendo realizado com a inestimável parceria da Swiss Films, dentro de sua programação de promoção cultural do país no Brasil.

Ao foco, somam-se dois programas temáticos que em anos anteriores tiveram excelente receptividade do nosso público: o Em Trânsito, que coloca em perspectiva o olhar do realizador brasileiro sobre outras culturas, seja através de filmes produzidos em escolas estrangeiras, coproduções, traslados independentes ou documentários baseados em imagens registradas além das fronteiras; e o From Hell, dedicado à sempre crescente produção nacional de filmes de horror. Como não poderia deixar de ocorrer, reeditamos nossas atividades paralelas de maior relevância. Na 20ª edição, o Laboratório de Projetos será orientado por Anna Azevedo, Eduardo Ades e Elaine Soares Azevedo, e se reafirma como uma ação do festival que tem possibilitado a viabilização de novos projetos em curta-metragem. Já o tradicional Workshop de Direção, este ano, será substituído por uma Masterclass de Direção de Cinema a ser ministrada pela realizadora e jornalista suíça Eileen Hofer. Todas as exibições e atividades do Curta Cinema 2017 são inteiramente gratuitas. A realização do festival se dá graças ao patrocínio da Globo Filmes, através da Lei Federal de Incentivo à Cultura, a Chamada Pública de Produção de Mostras e Festivais proporcionada pela Secretaria de Estado de Cultura do Rio de Janeiro e RioFilme, e ao apoio institucional da Secretaria Municipal de Cultura do Rio de Janeiro. For the last 27 years , Curta Cinema has been the greatest display for short films in Rio de Janeiro and one of the most important ones in Latin America. Its main job is to show the vitality, diversity and potential that the short film format offers to the national and international audiovisual industry. With the resiliency needed to face the difficulties and struggles that arise each and every moment, we keep working with the same passion of the first edition. Throughout the years, we have been treading a path full of achievements, helping to advertise and promote short films together with the audience, who wouldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have much of an access to these productions if this important screening window had not been made possible. Currently, the Brazilian cultural scene is going through great difficulties; it reflects the critical economical and political moment our society is going through. Instead of demotivating us, this situation is encouraging us to go on, in the hope that the challenges are overcome with intelligence and serenity. To be able to go through this moment, defining our position as an important cultural agent for promoting short films, we had to present a leaner and a little smaller version than the previous ones. Among almost four thousand submitted films, we selected a representative group of 150 titles. That was the hardest selection of all, we had to leave out hundreds of works that we would really love to screen in 2017 This program follows the same structure that has established the festival model with its two competitive exhibits (national and international) and its panoramas for local promotion (from Rio and Latin America). Concluding the program, we have the Swiss Focus; this editionâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s honored country has been making some of the most significant productions of the European scene. With a strong cosmopolitan character, its films have been gaining space at the most important festivals in the world, and some of them have been screened at Curta Cinema in competitive exhibits and special programs. This focus was made possible with the inestimable partnership of Swiss Films, within its cultural promotion program of their country in Brazil

To this focus, we added two themed programs that in previous years have had an excellent response from our audience: In Transit, which puts in perspective the Brazilian filmmaking vision over other cultures, through films produced in foreign schools, co-productions, independent exchanges or documentaries based on registered images beyond the frontiers; and From Hell, dedicated to the ever expanding national production of horror films. As it could not be otherwise, we reedited our most relevant parallel activities. On the 20th edition, the Project Lab will be guided by Anna Azevedo, Eduardo Ades and Elaine Soares Azevedo, and it reaffirms itself as an action of the festival that had been enabling the making of new short film projects. On the other hand, the traditional Directing Workshop, this year will be replaced by a Film Directing Masterclass held by the Swiss filmmaker and journalist Eileen Hofer. Every exhibit and activity from Curta Cinema 2017 is entirely free. The festival wasmade possible thanks to the sponsorship of Globo Filmes, through the Federal Law for Cultural Encouragement, the Public Notice for Exhibits and Festival Production, provided by the State Secretary of Culture of Rio de Janeiro and RioFilme, and the institutional support of the Municipal Secretary of Culture of Rio de Janeiro. SABRINA FIDALGO

Sabrina Fidalgo é uma premiada realizadora do Rio de Janeiro que escreveu, dirigiu, produziu e atuou nos curtas “Sonar 2006 – Special Report” (2006), “Das Gesetz des Staerkeren” (2007), “Black Berlim” (2009), “Cinema Mudo” (2012) e “Personal Vivator” (2014). Também dirigiu o documentário musical de média-metragem “Rio Encantado” (2014) e uma série de videoclipes. Em 2016, foi contemplada como diretora convidada no edital do Projeto Usina Criativa de Cinema do Polo Audiovisual da Zona da Mata de Minas Gerais e, com isso, realizou o curta-metragem “Rainha”, que também teve patrocínio do Grupo Energisa e estreou no Festival Ver e Fazer Filmes, em Cataguases, levando 4 prêmios (melhor atriz, ator coadjuvante, figurino e som). A estreia oficial ocorreu no último Festival Internacional de Curtas do Rio de Janeiro – Curta Cinema, em novembro de 2016, quando levou o prêmio de melhor filme pelo júri popular. Seus filmes já passaram em mais de 50 festivais nacionais e internacionais em lugares como Los Angeles e Nova York (E.U.A), Tegucigalpa (Honduras), Rosário e Buenos Aires (Argentina), Tóquio (Japão), Munique e Berlim (Alemanha), Praia (Cabo Verde), Maputo e Cabo Delgado (Moçambique), entre outros. Estudou cinema na Escola de TV e Cinema de Munique, na Alemanha, e fez especialização em roteiro na Universidad de Córdoba, na Espanha. Trabalhou ainda em diferentes funções em produções brasileiras e internacionais em países como Alemanha, França e Marrocos. Desde 2009, comanda a produtora de cinema independente Fidalgo Produções. Sabrina Fidalgo is an awarded filmmaker from Rio de Janeiro who wrote, directed, produced and acted in the shorts “Sónar 2006 – Special Report” (2006), “Das Gesetz des Staerkeren” (2007), “Black Berlin” (2009), “Cinema Mudo” (2012) and “The Staff” (2014). She also directed the medium-length musical documentary “Rio Encantado” and several music videos. In 2016, she was contemplated as a guest director at the public notice of Projeto Usina Criativa de Cinema at the Audiovisual Center of Zona da Mata, in Minas Gerais, and due to that she made the short “Rainha”, which also had Grupo Energisa as a sponsor, and premiered it at Ver e Fazer Festival, in Cataguases, winning 4 awards (best actress, supporting actor, costume design and sound). The official premiere took place at the last Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival – Curta Cinema, in November 2016, when she won the award for best film by people’s choice. Her films have been screened at more than 50 national and international festivals in places like Los Angeles and New York (USA), Tegucigalpa (Honduras), Praia (Cape Verde), Maputo and Cabo Delgado (Mozambique), among others. She studied Filmmaking at Universidad de Córdoba, in Spain. She also worked in different roles in Brazilian and international productions in countries like Germany, France and Morocco. Since 2009, she has led the independent production company Fidalgo Produções.

STEPHEN BOCSKAY Stephen Bocskay (Nova York) é professor visitante de cinema e estudos latino-americanos na Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). Foi professor de Estudos Brasileiros na Harvard University (2012-2015). Fez doutorado e mestrado em Estudos Luso-Brasileiros pela Brown University e mestrado e graduação em literaturas hispânicas pela Cornell University. Compôs a mesa de júri da última edição do Festival de Cinema de Triunfo, em Pernambuco. Lançará em breve o livro Vozes do Samba: Afro-Política e Ditadura no Brasil, 1964-1985, em conjunto com o documentário de longa-metragem Vozes do Samba. Suas áreas de atuação em pesquisa incluem cinema e mídia, música e cultura popular, literaturas hispânica e lusófona e estudos africanos.

STEPHEN BOCSKAY

Stephen Bocskay (New York) is a visiting Film and Latin-American Studies professor at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). He was a professor of Brazilian Studies at Harvard University (2012-2015). He has a PhD and a Master’s Degree in Portuguese-Brazilian Studies by Brown University, and a Master’s Degree and a Major in Hispanic Literatures by Cornell University. He took part of the jury’s table of the last edition of Triunfo Film Festival, in Pernambuco. He will soon publish the book Voices of Samba: African Politics and the Dictatorship in Brazil, 1964-1985, along with de feature documentary Voices of Samba. His research fields include film and media, music and popular culture, Hispanic and Lusophone literature and African studies.

EILEEN HOFER

Após estudar literatura e feito pós-graduação em história do cinema, Eileen Hofer trabalhou por 4 anos como assessora de imprensa para um festival de cinema. Foi jornalista em um jornal francosuíço e editora-chefe de uma revista, antes de se lancer auto-didata na direção cinematográfica. Seu primeiro curta-metragem “Racines” (2008), foi apresentado em mais de 80 festivais (incluindo Locarno e Clermont Ferrand - 2009) e recebeu uma dúzia de prêmios. Em seguida ela realiza “Le Deuil de la cigogne joyeuse“, que ganhou o prêmio de melhor curta suíço em 2010. Pelo seu terceiro curta “Soap opera in Wonderland”, Eileen Hofer é homenageada com uma Menção Especial do júri do festival de Amiens. Paralelamente, ela desenvolveu um trabalho fotográfico de retratos em polaroid em preto e branco, que foram publicados na revista Technikart. Em 2012, retorna à direção com seu primeiro longa-metragem “C’était un géant aux yeux bruns“, exibidos no Visions du Réel – Suíça e o Festival de Rotterdam, na Holanda. Em 2015 apresenta seu segundo longa “Horizontes” no festivais de Locarno, Visions du Réel, Karlovy Vary e Bafici, e ao mesmo tempo ganha o prêmio de melhor curta metragem suíço com “Nuestro Mar”, no festival de Winterthur. After studying Literature and post-graduating in Film History, Eileen Hofer worked for 4 year as public relations for a film festival. She has been a journalist at a French-Swiss newspaper and editor-in-chief of a magazine before launching herself as a self-taught film director. Her first short, “Racines” (2008), has been presented in more than 80 festivals (including Locardo and Clermond Ferrand – 2009), and received a dozen awards. Next she makes “Le Deuil de la Cigogne Joyeuse”, for which she won the best Swiss short award in 2010. For her third short “Soap Opera in Wonderland”, Eileen Hofer was honored with a special mention from Amiens Festival jury. Parallel to these, she developed a photographic work of Polaroid portraits in black and white that were published on Technikart magazine. In 2012, she goes back to directing with her first feature film “C’etait un géant aux yeaux bruns”, screened at Vision du Réel – Switzerland and Rotterdam Film Festival, in the Netherlands. In 2015 she presents her second feature “Horizons” at Locarno, Visions du Réel, Karlovy Vary and Bafici festivals, and at the same time wins best Swiss short film award for “Nuestro Mar” at Winterthur Festival.

IVANA BENTES

Ivana Bentes é professora e pesquisadora da Escola de Comunicação da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), atuante na área de comunicação, cinema, audiovisual e cultura. Foi diretora da Escola de Comunicação da UFRJ de 2006 a 2013 e Secretária de Cidadania e Diversidade Cultural no Ministério da Cultura de 2015 a 2016. É professora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação da UFRJ e Diretora Adjunta de Extensão da ECO/UFRJ. É pesquisadora do CNPq com os temas Estéticas da Comunicação e Periferias Globais, sobre a produção cultural e audiovisual das periferias no Brasil. É autora de “Joaquim Pedro de Andrade: a Revolução Intimista” (Ed. Relume Dumará); “Glauber Rocha – Cartas ao Mundo” (Companhia das Letras); “Ecos do Cinema: de Lumière ao digital” (Ed. UFRJ); “Avatar – O Futuro do Cinema e a Ecologia das Imagens Digitais” (Ed. Sulina) e “MídiaMultidão: estéticas da comunicação e biopolíticas” (Editora Mauad X. 2015). Ivana Bentes is a professor and researcher at the Communication School of Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), working in the fields of communication, audiovisual and culture. She was the director of the Communication School from 2006 to 2013 and Secretary of Citizenship and Cultural Diversity of the Ministry of Culture from 2015 to 2016. She’s a professor of the Communication Graduate Program at UFRJ and adjunct director of the Extension Department at ECO/UFRJ. She is a CNPq researcher on the themes of Communication Aesthetics and Global Peripheries, about the cultural and audiovisual production of the periphery areas of Brazil. She is the author of “Joaquim Pedro de Andrade: a Revolução Intimista” (ed. Relime Dumará); “Cartas ao Mundo – Glauber Rocha” (Companhia das Letras); “Ecos do Cinema: de Lumière ao Digital” (Editora UFRJ); “Avatar – O Futuro do Cinema e a Ecologia das Imagens Digitais” (Ed. Sulina) and Mídia-Multidão: estéticas da comunicação e biopolíticas (Editora Mauad X. 2015).

SAMANTHA BRASIL Samantha Brasil é graduada em Direito e em Ciências Sociais, pesquisadora e crítica de cinema, com mestrado em Sociologia e Antropologia (UFRJ). É curadora do Cineclube Delas, que tem enfoque no cinema realizado por diretoras, e integrante das Elviras – Coletivo de Mulheres Críticas de Cinema, do podcast Feito por Elas, que visa debater e divulgar o protagonismo de mulheres no audiovisual, e do canal A Lente Escarlate, vlog que analisa filmes brasileiros. Também colabora regularmente escrevendo sobre cinema no Delirium Nerd e no canal Sobre Elas.

SAMANTHA BRASIL

Samantha Brasil is graduated in Law and Social Sciences, she is a researcher and film critic, with a Master’s Degree in Sociology and Anthropology (UFRJ). She is the curator of Cineclube Delas, which is focused on films made by female directors, and part of Elviras – Coletivo de Mulheres Críticas de Cinema, the podcast Feito por Elas, which aims to debate and advertise women’s protagonism in audiovisual, and the channel Lente Escarlate, a vlog that analyses Brazilian films. She also regularly collaborates by writing about film with Delirium Nerd and the channel Sobre Elas.

ANTOINE GUERREIRO DO DIVINO AMOR

Guerreiro do Divino Amor (1983), cineasta e artista plástico suíço-brasileiro, mestre em arquitetura, vive e trabalha no Rio de Janeiro. Sua pesquisa explora as superficções, forças ocultas que interferem na construção do território e do imaginário coletivo, tomando forma de filmes, publicações e instalações. Seu trabalho foi exibido em várias mostras e festivais nacionais e internacionais, sendo o “Clube da Criança” (2008) finalista do Grande Prêmio da Academia Brasileira de Cinema de 2009, e “De Repente Barbara” (2014), vencedor do prêmio de melhor curta documentário no Transgender Film Festival de Kiel (Alemanha), em 2015. Suas obras são parte das coleções do MAR. Foi finalista na Bienal da Imagem em Movimento de Genebra, em 2016, e duas vezes finalista dos Swiss Art Awards na Art Basel. Suas obras estão sendo atualmente apresentadas em exposições na fundação Iberê Camargo em Porto Alegre, no MAB Centro em São Paulo e no centro de arte contemporânea de Vilnius na Lituânia. Guerreiro do Divino Amor (1983), Swiss-Brazilian filmmaker and visual artist, he has a Master’s Degree in Architecture, lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. His research explores the super fictions, hidden forces that influence the construction of the territory and collective imaginary on the shape of films, publications and installations. His work has been exhibited in several national and international exhibits and festivals, “Clube da Criança” (2008) being the finalist of Grand Prize of the Brazilian Film Academy 2009, and “De Repente Barbara” (2014), winner of the award for best documentary short at Kiel Transgender Film Festival (Germany), in 2015. Nelson Hoineff é cineasta, roteirista, jornalista, produtor e crítico de cinema. Especializou-se em Cinema pela New York University e em Novas Tecnologias da Televisão pela New School for Social Research (NY). É crítico de cinema desde 1968. Além de fundador e por quatro vezes presidente da Associação de Críticos de Cinema do Rio de Janeiro, Hoineff é fundador, junto com Marco Altberg, da Associação Brasileira de Produtores Independentes de Televisão, da qual foi vice-presidente por duas gestões. Participou ainda da fundação do Centro de Pesquisadores do Cinema Brasileiro. É membro do Conselho Consultivo da Secretaria do Audiovisual do Ministério da Cultura. Foi membro do Conselho Superior de Cinema da Presidência da República e do Conselho Consultivo do Sistema Brasileiro de TV Digital. Na televisão, dirigiu o Departamento de Programas Jornalísticos da Rede Manchete e foi diretor de programas jornalísticos no SBT, Rede Bandeirantes, GNT, TV Cultura e TVE do Rio. Dirigiu a série Documento Especial. Foi editor-executivo do Jornal do Brasil, além de ter passado por veículos como Veja, O Globo, Folha de S. Nelson Hoineff is a filmmaker, screenwriter, journalist, producer and film critic. He specialized in Film at New York University and in New Technologies for Television at New School for Social Research (NY). He has been a film critic since 1968. Besides being the founder and four-time president of Rio de Janeiro Film Critic Association, Hoineff is the founder, along with Marco Altberg, of the Brazilian Association of Independent Television Producers, of which he has been vice-president for two terms. He also helped founding the Center of Brazilian Cinema Researchers. He is a member of the Consultation Board of the Ministry of Culture’s Film Office. He was a member of the Film Superior Board of the Presidency of the Republic and the Consultation Board of the Brazilian Digital TV System. On television, he was the director of the News Department of TV Manchete and he directed news programs at SBT, Rede Bandeirantes, GNT, TV Cultura and Rio’s TVE. He directed the series Documento Especial. He was executive-editor of Jornal do Brasil, besides working at Veja, O Globo, Folha de S. FRANCISCO CARBONE Francisco Carbone é jornalista, crítico de cinema, membro da Associação de Críticos de Cinema do Rio de Janeiro (ACCRJ) e professor que ministra cursos na área de cinema. Participou de júris de festivais e costuma cobrir mostras de cinema pelo Brasil, além de moderar debates e ajudar na administração de cineclubes. Membro da equipe do Estúdio Kubo, sob a administração de Karin Scarpa, com quem elabora Cineclubes, cursos, oficinas e palestras. Participou de júris em festivais e mostras, e foi jurado pelo Canal Brasil em importantes festivais internacionais. Também colabora com júris acadêmicos e universitários, como no Festival EmCurta Cinema da UniGranRio. Faz revisão de roteiros de curtas e longas-metragens. Francisco Carbone is a journalist, film critic, member of Rio de Janeiro Film Critic Association (ACCRJ) and film teacher. He participated in festivals juries and he usually covers film exhibits around Brazil, besides moderating debates and helping administrating film clubs. He is editor and writer for Cineplayers, collaborator of Vertentes do Cinema and Infoco News agency website and award,. Member of Estúdio Kubo team, under the administration of Karin Scarp, whom he plans film clubs, courses, workshops and lectures with. He participated in juries at festivals and exhibits, and he has been a judge for Canal Brasil at important international festivals. He also collaborates with academic and university juries, such as EmCurta Cinema Festival at UniGranRio. He revises short and feature film screenplays. O Canal Brasil concede, nos principais festivais de cinema do país, o Prêmio Canal Brasil de Curtas no valor de R$ 15.000,00 (quinze mil reais) a um curta metragem brasileiro escolhido por um júri especialmente formado pelo canal. O curta vencedor, além de ganhar o prêmio e ser exibido no canal, passa a concorrer ao Grande Prêmio Canal Brasil de Curtas, no valor de 50 mil reais, no ano seguinte. É o momento onde todos os vencedores dos festivais que o Canal está presente participam. Canal Brasil grants, in the country’s leading film festivals, the Canal Brasil Short Film award in the amount of R $ 15,000.00 (fifteen thousand reais) to a Brazilian short film chosen by a jury expert in cinema. The winner short film, beyond winning the prize and being featured by the channel, is selected to compete for the Short Film Grand Prix Canal Brasil, worth of R $50,000 (fifty thousand reais), the following year. It is the time when all winners from the festivals in which Canal Brasil is present, get to participate.

É uma jornada, um passeio, um vagar pelas ruas das cidades, assim como as histórias de Tom sobre a cidade de Nova York nos anos 90, e cinema, e lojas que não existem mais. É também um documentário sobre o nascimento de uma amizade. “A História do Peixe Morto” é a primeira história contada durante o passeio, na qual Tom se lembra de trabalhar em “A Última Ceia”, de Robert Frank, de uma igreja antiga e de um traficante do quarteirão.

“The dead fish story” is a fragment from the film “Years ago, I was working on a movie...” which is both a documentary “sort of”; and a story being told by Tom Jarmusch, driving his car while I’m shooting the lights of New York City at night. It’s a journey, a promenade, wandering the streets of the city as well as Tom’s stories about NYC in the 90ies, and cinema, and stores that don’t exist anymore. It is also a documentary about the birth of a friendship. “The dead fish story” is the first story told during that promenade, Tom remembers working on Robert Frank’s “Last Supper”, and old church and a drug dealer on the block.

The travelling salesman Jonathan Fisch peddles glass eyes. His journey takes him to the edge of the province, where he checks in to a run-down hotel. The attic room number 606 has its pitfalls. Something rather peculiar is happening beyond the wall. Jonathan Fisch can expect a very turbulent night. A night that begins one evening in late autumn and doesn’t end until spring.

Sem saber, damos significado a histórias de fantasmas que nos cercam. Dessa maneira, em 2011, Marie-Elsa Sgualdo descobriu o trabalho do diretor espanhol José-Luis Guerin, gerando nela a vontade de entrar em contato com ele. “Pensei em mandar uma carta para ele em forma de autoficção, para tentar expressar o que me tocou nos seus filmes. (...) Prometi dar uma nova vida ao que chamaria de rumores, sem me obrigar a contar sempre a verdade.” (Marie-Elsa Sgualdo) Without knowing it, we attach significance to ghost stories that circulate around us. In such a way, in 2011 Marie-Elsa Sgualdo discovered the work of Spanish director José-Luis Guerin, creating in her the desire to contact him. “I thought about sending him a letter in the form of auto-fiction to try to express what had moved me in his films. LABORATÓRIO DE PROJETOS DE CURTA METRAGEM 2017 Short Film Project Lab 2017 Transformar ideias em filmes - essa é a proposta do Laboratório de Projetos de Curta Metragem do Festival Curta Cinema. Doze projetos são selecionados para receber consultoria de profissionais atuantes no mercado do audiovisual. Na troca de conhecimentos sobre o processo cinematográfico, ideias e estratégias são aprimoradas. Um projeto carioca e outro nacional serão escolhidos pelos consultores, e premiados com serviços cinematográficos para a viabilização dos filmes. Nesta 20ª edição do Laboratório de Projetos de Curta Metragem, contamos com a participação da diretora e roteirista Anna Azevedo, da produtora Elaine Soares Azevedo e do cineasta e produtor Eduardo Ades. Melhor Projeto Nacional: - Mistika: serviço de finalização no valor de 6 mil Reais; - Cinecolor: voucher no valor de 3 mil Reais em serviços; - CTAv: empréstimo de câmera por 1 semana; - DOT Cine – serviço de finalização. Anna Azevedo Anna Azevedo é mestre em Cinema pela PUCRJ. Premiada realizadora, com obras também no campo das artes visuais exibidas em eventos como os festivais de: Berlim, Rotterdam, CPH:DOX (Dinamarca), HotDocs (Canadá), Jihlava (República Tcheca), Uppsala (Suécia), Sheffield (Reino Unido), Cinema Verité (Irã), É Tudo Verdade, Festival do Rio, Mostra de S. Paulo, Bienal de Artes de Veneza (Pavilhão Latinoamericano), Museum of Metropolitan Art (MoMA-NY) e Somerset House (Londres). Por duas vezes recebeu o Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro pelo melhor documentário (categoria curta) do ano, com os filmes “Geral” e “Dreznica”. Em 2006, ganhou o Berlin Today Award de melhor filme por “BerlinBall”, no Talent Campus do Festival de Berlim. Assina a direção e o roteiro do longa “Rio de Jano” e de doze curtas. Estudou roteiro

cinematográfico na Escola de Cine de Cuba. Seu filme mais recente, “Em busca da terra sem males”, estreou em fevereiro de 2017 na Berlinale. Anna Azevedo Anna Azevedo has a master’s degree in Filmmaking from PUC-RJ. Awarded director with works also in the visual arts being shown in events such the following festivals: Berlin, Rotterdam, CPH:DOX (Denmark), HotDocs (Canada), Jihlava (Czech Republic), Uppsala (Sweden), Sheffield (UK), Cinema Verité (Iran), It’s All True, Rio International Film Festival, São Paulo International Film Festival, Venice Bienalle (Latin-American Pavilion), Museum of Metropolitan Art (MoMA-NY) and Somerset House (London). She received the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro for best documentary of the year (short film) a couple of times for the films “Geral” and “Dreznica”. In 2006, she won the Berlin Today Award for best film, for “BerlinBall”, at Berlinale’s Talent Campus. She is the director and screenwriter of the feature “Rio de Jano” and of twelve shorts. Eduardo Ades Eduardo Ades é diretor, roteirista e produtor de cinema. Formado em Cinema pela UFF. Sóciofundador da Imagem-Tempo. Como diretor e roteirista, realizou os longas documentais “Crônica da demolição” (2015) e “Torquato Neto – Todas as horas do fim” (2017, com Marcus Fernando), e o curta de ficção “A Dama do Estácio” (2012). Produtor dos documentários “Morro dos Prazeres” (Maria Augusta Ramos, 2013), “Yorimatã” (Rafael Saar, 2014), e diversos curtas, incluindo “O bom comportamento”, “Não me prometa nada” (Eva Randolph, 2014 e 2016) e “Depois das nove” (Allan Ribeiro, 2008). Eduardo Ades Eduardo Ades is a director, screenwriter and film producer. Graduated in Filmmaking at UFF. Co-founder of Imagem-Tempo. As a director and screenwriter, he made the documentary features “Chronicle of the Demolition” (2015) and “Torquato Neto – Every Hour of the End” (2017, with Marcus Fernando), and the fiction short “The Lady from Estácio”(2012). Producer of the documentaries “Hill of Pleasures” (Maria Augusta Ramos, 2013), “Yorimatã” (Rafael Saar, 2014), and several shorts, including “The Good Behavior”, “Don’t Promise me Anything” (Eva Randolph, 2014 and 2016) and “After Nine” (Allan Ribeiro, 2008).

Elaine Soares Azevedo Pós-graduada em Gerenciamento de Serviços pelo IBMEC/RJ e Fotografia & Ciências Sociais pela UCAM/RJ, formou-se em Jornalismo em 1999. Trabalhou com Comunicação Corporativa por onze anos. Desde 2005, trabalha com produção e direção de arte em audiovisual. É sócia-fundadora da produtora fluminense Oceano Cinematográfico. Tem ampla experiência em elaboração e formatação de projetos culturais e captação de recursos para audiovisual. Foi selecionada no Films from Rio, em 2015, programa do Marché du Film/Sicav-RJ/SEC-RJ, que a levou aos mercados Ventana Sur 2015 e Marché du Film/Cannes 2016. Atuou como produtora, produtora executiva e diretora de produção em diversos filmes de longa e curta metragem, tais como: “A Serpente” e “Jardim Atlântico”, de Jura Capela, e “Divinas Divas”, de Leandra Leal. Elaine Soares Azevedo Postgraduate in Services Management at IBMEC/RJ and Photography & Social Sciences at UCAM/RJ, she graduated in Journalism in 1999. She worked with Corporative Communication for eleven years. Since 2005, she works as a producer and art director in film. She is co-founder of Rio de Janeiro’s production company Oceano Cinematográfico. She has wide experience in elaboration and formatting of cultural projects and fundraising for film. She had been selected by Films from Rio in 2015, a Marché du Film/Sicav-RJ/SEC-RJ program, which took her to the markets Ventana Sur 2015 and Marché du Film/Cannes 2016. Apoio Eileen Hofer Realizadora e Jornalista Suíça Após estudar literatura e feito pós-graduação em história do cinema, Eileen Hofer trabalhou por 4 anos como assessora de imprensa para um festival de cinema. Foi jornalista em um jornal franco-suíço e editora-chefe de uma revista, antes de se lancer auto-didata na direção cinematográfica. Seu primeiro curta-metragem “Racines” (2008), foi apresentado em mais de 80 festivais (incluindo Locarno e Clermont Ferrand - 2009) e recebeu uma dúzia de prêmios. Em seguida ela realiza “Le Deuil de la cigogne joyeuse“, que ganhou o prêmio de melhor curta suíço em 2010. Pelo seu terceiro curta “Soap opera in Wonderland”, Eileen Hofer é homenageada com uma Menção Especial do júri do festival de Amiens. Paralelamente, ela desenvolveu um trabalho fotográfico de retratos em polaroid em preto e branco, que foram publicados na revista Technikart. Em 2012, retorna à direção com seu primeiro longa-metragem “C’était un géant aux yeux bruns“, exibidos no Visions du Réel – Suíça e o Festival de Rotterdam, na Holanda. Em 2015 apresenta seu segundo longa “Horizontes” no festivais de Locarno, Visions du Réel, Karlovy Vary e Bafici, e ao mesmo tempo ganha o prêmio de melhor curta metragem suíço com “Nuestro Mar”, no festival de Winterthur. Eileen Hofer Swiss filmmaker and journalist After studying Literature and post-graduating in Film History, Eileen Hofer worked for 4 year as public relations for a film festival. She has been a journalist at a FrenchSwiss newspaper and editor-in-chief of a magazine before launching herself as a selftaught film director. Her first short, “Racines” (2008), has been presented in more than 80 festivals (including Locardo and Clermond Ferrand – 2009), and received a dozen awards. Next she makes “Le Deuil de la Cigogne Joyeuse”, for which she won the best Swiss short award in 2010. For her third short “Soap Opera in Wonderland”, Eileen Hofer was honored with a special mention from Amiens Festival jury. Parallel to these, she developed a photographic work of Polaroid portraits in black and white that were published on Technikart magazine. In 2012, she goes back to directing with her first feature film “C’etait un géant aux yeaux bruns”, screened at Vision du Réel – Switzerland and Rotterdam Film Festival, in the Netherlands. In 2015 she presents her second feature “Horizons” at Locarno, Visions du Réel, Karlovy Vary and Bafici festivals, and at the same time wins best Swiss short film award for “Nuestro Mar” at Winterthur Festival.

O último boletim do GEMAA (Grupo de Estudos Multidisciplinares de Ações Afirmativas da UERJ) apresentou o perfil de raça e gênero dos filmes brasileiros de maior público lançados entre 1995 e 2016. A partir dos dados disponibilizados pelo Observatório Brasileiro do Cinema e do Audiovisual (OCA-ANCINE), foram analisados elencos, roteiristas e diretores/as dos 10 filmes de maior público de cada ano, totalizando um corpus de 219 tramas. Os resultados mostram que, na última década, o cinema nacional foi majoritariamente feito por homens brancos. As mulheres negras, por sua vez, sequer estão presentes nas posições de roteiro e direção e são o grupo mais sub-representado nos elencos. O debate busca ascender as questões contemporâneas acerca da falta de representatividade de mulheres, pessoas negras e LGBTQs na cinematografia nacional por trás e na frente das câmeras, assim como a perpetuação de visões coloniais que refletem estereótipos e estigmas.

From the data that the Brazilian Observatory for Film and Audiovisual (OCA-ANCINE) made available, casts, screenwriters and directors from the 10 of the most watched films each year were analyzed, totalizing a 219-plot corpus. The results show that over the past decade, national cinema was mostly made by white men. Black women, on the other hand, are not even present in positions of screenwriting and directing, and they are the most underrepresented group in casts. The debate seeks to bring up the contemporary issues about the lack of women, people of color and LGBTQs representation in national cinema behind and in front of the cameras, as well as the perpetuation of colonial views that reflect stereotypes and stigma.
