for Everyone Winter 2019 Access Brochure War Horse - 18 Sep - 12 Oct

Welcome Welcome to Curve, and to our Winter 2019 Access Brochure. Great theatre is nothing unless it’s for everyone. We are proud to offer a programme of accessible performances throughout the year, enabling customers with all disabilities requiring particular assistance to access the work on our stages. For details of all of the accessible performances coming up this year, please see pages 2 - 6 of this brochure. As well as performances on our stages, we are also delighted to offer a range of participatory opportunities for everyone to get involved in. Find out more about the recent work that we have undertaken in the community, and how you can join in with new opportunities at Curve on pages 9 - 10. We hope that you find this brochure useful, however, if you have an access question that is not covered please do not hesitate to get in touch at contactus@curvetheatre.co.uk, or speak to a member of our Box Office team. We look forward to welcoming you to Curve. Chris Stafford Chief Executive Nikolai Foster Artistic Director

Get Involved Alongside the many accessible performances we offer here at Curve, there are various opportunities for people to get involved with participatory projects. We have a range of partnerships that offer people with additional needs more opportunities to get involved with projects, workshops and events. Recent highlights have included a project with sight-loss charity Vista and Extant that saw visually impaired adults devising and performing a show at Curve; ‘Splash’ with the Mighty Creatives in which we supported disabled artists leading arts sessions in Special schools; and a theatre tour and workshop for adults with learning disabilities in partnership with Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service. We have an ongoing relationship with SideKick Dance, who we host for weekly classes for both young people and adults with a range of needs; and are currently mentoring disabled artist and SideKick member Chris Pryke to develop a one man show for launch later in the year. For more info about SideKick contact Charlotte Tomlinson charlotte.tomlinson@hotmail.com Our partnership with Leicestershire Music Services is helping us develop some brilliant SEN-related opportunities. Look out for our free Family Day on 16th May next year, when our whole building will host a feast of musical treats that put children with SEN front and centre - with soundbeams, theatre tours, performances, choirs and more. Save the date!

We will also be reprising the highly successful Special Schools Massed Sing event that wowed everyone last November. Remove>Perhaps most importantly, We are also inviting audiences and partners with an interest in disability issues to join our Access team in creating a Focus group, which will meet regularly to help influence the work we do in the future and the way we do it. This has grown out of connections made through the Local Offer programme, but if you would like to hear more about this group, or possibly contribute to it, please do contact Head of Learning Andy Reeves, via learning@ curvetheatre. co.uk.
