for Everyone Spring / Summer 2019 Access Brochure Pulse, Bamboozle Theatre - 30 Jan - 1 Feb

Welcome Welcome to Curve, and to our Spring/Summer 2019 Access Brochure. Great theatre is nothing unless it’s for everyone. We are proud to offer a programme of accessible performances throughout the year, enabling customers with all disabilities requiring particular assistance to access the work on our stages. For details of all of the accessible performances coming up this year, please see pages 2 - 6 of this brochure. As well as performances on our stages, we are also delighted to offer a range of participatory opportunities for everyone to get involved in. Find out more about the recent work that we have undertaken in the community, and how you can join in with new opportunities at Curve on pages 9 - 10. We hope that you find this brochure useful, however, if you have an access question that is not covered please do not hesitate to get in touch at contactus@curvetheatre.co.uk, or speak to a member of our Box Office team. We look forward to welcoming you to Curve. Chris Stafford Chief Executive Nikolai Foster Artistic Director

Get Involved Alongside the many accessible performances we mount at Curve, there are various opportunities for people to get involved with participatory projects. We have a long-standing relationship with SideKick Dance, who we host for two weekly classes for both young people and adults with a range of needs. As a natural development from this relationship, dancers from SideKick are increasingly appearing in non-disability specific performances as part of integrated casts, including our 2018 Curve Young Company and Community Production of Fiddler on the Roof, and as part of the De Montfort University Talent 25 Launch in January 2019. We’re currently working with disabled artist Chris Pryke on developing his comedy material for a performance in late 2019. Our schools programme is enriched by ongoing relationships with a number of special schools; at the time of writing we are working with Ellesmere College and Ashmount School on participatory project Splash, bringing disabled artists into schools to lead a series of workshops. This is part of a developing strategic relationship with both schools, ensuring that we are able to discuss the specific needs of the students when planning participatory activity.

Another interesting strategic relationship is the SEN strain of Leicestershire Music Hub activity. In November 2018 we hosted the inspirational Mass Singing event in our studio with over 100 young people and their families, the first in a bi-annual series of such sharings. There are a range of workshops and classes available at Curve across the year, and we endeavour to make these as open access as possible. For further details or to discuss whether one of our projects or classes might be for you, please contact our Head of Learning, Andy Reeves, at learning@curvetheatre.co.uk.
