WELCOME TO

It’s been a busy few months with the launch of our production of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾ The Musical, the second annual Inside Out Festival celebrating talent in this great region and our community company performance at the Cathedral, unveiling King Richard III’s tomb to the world. There are lots of firsts coming up this season and we are looking forward to sharing them with you. Kicking it off is National Youth Music Theatre, who will present the sensational dance musical Sweet Charity in our Studio. The Globe Theatre, based on London’s South Bank, has built an enviable reputation for presenting plays by Shakespeare in hugely entertaining productions. We look forward to welcoming them to Leicester for the first time with their outstanding production of Much Ado About Nothing. Epic plays continue to feature later this year with our brand new production of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, one of the greatest plays ever written. We continue to offer something for all ages and imaginations: Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Mary Poppins takes first flight here and sets off on a nationwide tour, hot on the heels of our production of Hairspray. We are also delighted to be producing a brand new production of Roald Dahl’s The Witches, playing in the Studio, alongside our Christmas musical Oliver! We love all forms of dance here at Curve, and are thrilled Associate Artist, Aakash Odedra is presenting the world premiere of Echoes and I Imagine. There is a long tradition of presenting world-class, exceptional dance theatre here in Leicester and after Aakash, we are proud to present Mathew Bourne’s version of Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty. For young dance audiences, Akram Khan’s stunning Chotto Desh. And our Diwali celebrations ensure dance continues to be well represented on our stages. We hope you will join us over the coming months, either seeing work, or taking part in one of the many projects which run alongside the performances (please check curveonline.co.uk and @CurveLeicester for updates). We hope there is something for everybody in this season and that it will inspire, entertain and challenge you in the way only live theatre can. Fiona Allan Chief Executive

Nikolai Foster Artistic Director

PS: This season marks Fiona’s final one here at Curve. All of the team wish Fiona well in her new role at Birmingham Hippodrome and thank her for her extraordinary leadership and dedication over the past four years.
