WELCOME Welcome to this new season of work at Curve: with new plays and musicals, opera, performances for little ones, dance and productions which put our communities centre stage, we are proud to offer something for everybody. Curve was recently honoured at the UK Theatre Awards, winning the important Promotion of Diversity Award. It means a lot that the work we are doing here and relationships with our communities has been recognised in this way. We continue to celebrate diversity and share stories from many different perspectives during this season, including Wipers, our new play by Ishy Din. The play celebrates the extraordinary contribution of South Asian soldiers during the Great War and we are proud to be presenting the play during this remembrance centenary. Something totally different, but equally exciting is our Spring musical; we are very much looking forward to sharing Legally Blonde with you. It’s a hugely empowering piece of writing and we are thrilled to have assembled such an impressive cast and production team. Representing Leicester around the UK, our Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Hairspray and The Witches companies are currently all on tour, with Holly Golightly making an appearance in London’s West End! It’s wonderful to fly the flag for Leicester and Curve, sharing work that has been made in our building with audiences across the country. We hope you feel suitably proud of your contribution to all of this work – the productions we create here are shaped and defined by your response to them, your feedback, our region and our shared experiences together. On behalf of all of the team here, we are looking forward to welcoming you here during our forthcoming season. And, come on you Foxes! Chris Stafford Chief Executive

SASHA REGAN’S ALL MALE
BY W.G GILBERT AND ARTHUR SULLIVAN THU 21 – SAT 23 JUL • STUDIO
“Superb, Gilbert and Sullivan at its best” London Theatre Reviews This thrilling all-male version of one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most popular and much loved operas, H.M.S. Pinafore, comes from the award-winning team behind the hugely successful Pirates of Penzance (What’sOnStage Award for Best Off West End Production). With infectious tunes and beautifully constructed libretto, Gilbert and Sullivan are taken below deck, where the WWII sailors set out to find a distraction from the goings on above board with a production of one of their favourite shows – HMS Pinafore. Dealing with the age-old conundrum of love between social classes, this fresh, fast and inventive new production is joyful, witty and fun for all the family.

Sing Hallelujah for the all new production of Sister Act with Alexandra Burke as Deloris Van Cartier An all new production of the Broadway and West End smash hit musical comedy returns to the UK starring Alexandra Burke (The X Factor, The Bodyguard). Directed and choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood, Sister Act is the feel-amazing musical comedy based on the smash hit movie starring Whoopi Goldberg and Maggie Smith. Featuring original music by Tony® and 8-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Enchanted), dazzling dance routines and songs inspired by Motown, soul and disco, Sister Act is the funniest and funkiest musical around. Sister Act tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found – a Convent! Disguised as a nun and under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, sisterhood and music. Come and see the habits hit the road again and why this fabulous family friendly show has been seen by more than six million people worldwide.
