MEET THE TRAINERS
MEET SAM CHINNOCK
DAF now has Dealer Driver Trainers based across the country to help hand over new and used vehicles and we thought it would be good to get to know some of them a little bit better! In this edition we talk to Sam Chinnock, the DAF Dealer Driver Trainer for the HTC Group which has DAF Dealer locations across the South East including at Heathrow, Park Royal, Reading, Croydon, Belvedere, Dunstable, Oxford, Luton and Hemel Hempstead.
Q: When did you first join HTC DAF and what was your first job there?
A: I started at HTC two years ago, first as a driver for DGC, which is the vehicle rental division of HTC’s parent company, before joining the HTC DAF Truck Sales team a year ago.
Q: What did you want to be when you were at school?
A: My ambition at the time was to be a Military Police Officer.
Q: When did you take your HGV licence?
A: I was a bus driver for 12 years and completed my class 2 license four years ago and my class 1 in 2021. I passed first time on all of them, so I’m pretty proud of that!
Q: What do enjoy most about your role?
A: Being out and about and meeting different people. No two days are the same.
Q: Do you have a top tip for a driver getting his new DAF?
A: I highly recommend the driver training. There is so much more to the DAF than selecting drive and putting your foot down. The training gets the driver prepared for driving the future forward. Obviously buy from HTC, their sales team are the best!!
Q: What car do you currently drive and if money was no object what would you have?
A: I currently drive a Ford Fiesta but would have VW Beetle with all the mod cons if I could.
Q: What other responsibilities do you have at HTC DAF?
A: I do many general driving duties, including collection and delivery of vehicles, and test driving.
Q: If you weren’t doing this, what would your ideal job be?
A: I believe at the moment I am in my ideal job. The people I work with and for, are the best I have ever worked with.
