National Grid

Climate change is the greatest challenge of our time and the clock is ticking so we need to act now in all sectors. Transport accounts for just under a quarter of global CO2 emissions and still has an enormous impact too on air quality and hence health. Moving to electric, hydrogen and other forms of clean propulsion will make a huge difference. We can make that difference together. National Grid is poised, with our expertise in electricity and gas and with our infrastructure, to facilitate and help drive the successful transition to cleaner transport. We are committed to decarbonisation of our own business and to leading the transition for our communities and the economy as a whole. Let’s work together to have a clean energy network and net zero transport – it will take the power of all of us to really make a difference.

Western Power Distribution

Serving the Midlands, South West and Wales, Western Power Distribution is actively engaged in preparing the network for the future, creating Distribution Future Energy Scenarios, the range of credible futures for the growth of the distribution network. As part of this, in 2020 it completed Net Zero South Wales, a collaborative project with Wales and West Utilities and Regen with funding from the Network Innovation Allowance programme. This project developed an integrated Distribution Future Energy Scenarios (DFES) study which covered both the electricity and gas distribution networks in South Wales. It also produces a Long Term Development Statement to assist current and future users of Western Power Distribution’s network to identify and assess opportunities available to them for making new or additional use of the distribution system. This includes an interactive online map showing where there is current grid growth capacity, within the existing network.

Zenobē Energy

Zenobē Energy is partnering with us to provide charging facilities for the electric vehicles in the Demonstration Hub.

Zenobē is an international EV fleet and battery storage specialist, headquartered in the UK with operations in Europe and Australasia. The company provides fleet electrification and battery storage services to fleet operators, power grid operators and large businesses.

Zenobē’s Electric Transportation-as-a-Service (ETaaS) provides fleet operators and local authorities with a full solution for pay-per-month fee including battery replacement and award-winning software. By minimising upfront costs, Zenobē is removing the traditional barriers to electrification and boosting the adoption of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.

With c.800 electric vehicles contracted globally and c.25% market share of the UK bus sector, Zenobē is helping the sector drive towards a net-zero future. Zenobē is also a pioneer in the second-life use of commercial vehicle batteries.

Steven Meersman, Co-Founder and Director at Zenobē, says: “We are proud to be partnering with ITT Hub, an organisation that shares our passion for using electrification to enable a cleaner, greener future. Reuse is absolutely central to this.

“At Zenobē we are dedicated to advancing battery applications with a particular focus on what happens to EV batteries at the end of their lives on vehicles. Our growing second-life battery operations solve this issue, as we reuse batteries from our electric fleets across Europe and close the loop. “As the world continues to drive towards its net-zero goal, Zenobē is committed to leading the charge towards a circular economy, embracing secondlife battery technology and championing its vast capabilities.”
