Elder College Programs
Built on a foundation of volunteer presenters, the support of the Cowichan Valley Regional District staff and facility and a dedicated advisory committee, Elder College has provided quality, affordable programs in a friendly and welcoming environment for over 20 years. The small annual membership fee of $10 opens the door to fun, informative offerings for the 50+ community and this fall once more includes classes from the arts to yoga. Today, as member interests have grown and changed, the Committee is excited to share that in 2023, Elder College will begin with a fresh look, a new name and even more of what celebrates being a lifelong learner.

This course will focus on learning the common first position chords with the goal of playing a simple song to start. We will look at some basic theory as it pertains to understanding key signatures and the relevance of what chords go together in songs. Fire Safety
At age 65, older adults are twice as likely to die or be injured by fires compared to the average population. By age 75, that risk increases to three times that of the general population and four times by age 85. Remembering When™ is a workshop centered around 16 key safety messages. Experts developed eight fire prevention and eight fall prevention topics from national and local safety organizations. This informative seminar will provide fire safety information, help prevent injuries, and make a measurable improvement in the health and wellbeing of older adults.
