Elder College Programs
Elder College is celebrating 20 years in the Cowichan Community Centre. We invite all individuals 50 or better to join us in a program designed by you for you. Share knowledge, learn new skills, and develop yourself in a friendly and welcoming environment. Elder College features an expansive program lineup with opportunities ranging from fitness and computers through to music and outdoors. All of the programs are put on by great instructors and overseen by our committee, of which we give a heartfelt thanks to both. Please note there is an annual membership fee.
Beginner Fly Tying
Students will learn to tie their own fishing ties, including the tools and materials needed and will come away with a nice selection of flies that catch fish on local lakes, rivers and beaches. A $40 supply fee is payable to the instructors at the first class.

Drawing Cats & Dogs
Build confidence while you explore your own style of drawing cats. Please bring a sketchbook or scrap paper; cheap promotional pens for practice (those running out of ink are ideal); black drawing pen (any smoothly flowing black ink pen will do); and LOTS of cat and dog photos (figurines are also useful). This course will focus on learning the common first position chords with the goal of playing a simple song to start. We will look at some basic theory as it pertains to understanding key signatures and the relevance of what chords go together in songs.
