Figs

In season figs are plump, soft and sweet and very versatile. Can be fried, they become sweeter when roasted, can be eaten raw. Great with salads, pasta’s deserts and even pizza toppings. If you have a tree in your yard perhaps make fig jam. Try to use fresh figs within two days of buying them or refridgerate until ready to use.

Expand your menu with these fruits and vegies that are in season now.

Leek

Great on a grill, chopped leek goes great with any other green vegie like peas, spinach and cabbage. Fantastic when finely chopped and added to your mashed potatoe. Great in stir fry. Fantastic as a tasty garnish on anything especially soups.

Kiwi is packed with nutrients. One Kiwi fruit has 5 grams of fiber and twice the calcium of an orange. Kiwi fruits are also a great sourse of vitamin E and vitamin A. Fantastic fruit for decorating any desert, vibrant colour and unique flavour. Blend it and include it in a salsa or a super healthy smoothy, make some Kiwi pops for the kids.

Eggplant

Eggplant - easy to roast, bake or grill. Great for savory vegetarian dishes. Can be included in any roast with vegetables. You can stuff it for a great entertaining dish. Try an eggplant burger or eggplant lasagne. Swede

Sick of potatoes then try roasted Swede or mashed Swede. swede can be boiled, steamed, roasted or fried, anything you can do wih potatoe you can do with a swede.Try sliced Swede chips. Great in curries
