of exploring the relationship between people and architecture, creating value and a better life In my opinion, an architect is more like a chef. What he does is closely related to everyone ’s daily life. It is so ordinary, but you won’t listen to your mother to tell a set of obscure theories before cooking. She must first fill everyone's stomachs, secondly try to make as delicious as possible, and finally, if she has the additional time, she can figure out how to make dishes look more attractive. If only fill hunger, life has no fun at all,

and if only care about the appearance, life will lose its true quality. The goal of the architect is purely simple. Those so-called adherence to various genres is not the most important. Therefore, in the process of solving problems, we must raise our thirst for knowledge to full marks and learn to use various skills as much as we can. Finally we must be clear all the time that architecture should be people oriented, should serve every individual. This is my understand of how to confront the changeable future, which also accords to your school’s motto---"Progress and Service"

CUBE CLOUD

PROBE INTO FUTURE CUSTOMIZED LIFE

As a senior experimental project, this solution is based on the mobile architecture theory of the famous architect Yona Friedman, and explores the variability of today's architecture under the rapid development of information technology. In order to show a mature and highly feasible solution, we also studied modules such as drone transport technology, Business model, interaction design, etc. in addition to architecture.

Individual needs are diverse, from emotion to material, from information to social. However, from the perspective of the group, these needs have certain commonality, and the commonality determines the reproducibility of the demands. Therefore, in the early stage of the development of the industrial era, the level of human productivity has changed, but it still has not reached the level of satisfying each individual customization,so people’s life have been accustomed to following the needs for a long time. This also determines that throughout the 20th century, urban planning has strong functional division characteristics.

Drawed by Yona Friedman

Thesis Background

People follow needs

But after entering the 21st century, people are experiencing this unprecedented technological revolution, productivity and information levels have exploded, robots and 5G technology have continued to mature, and individual customized needs have been unprecedentedly met. In the future, there will definitely be larger and more mature customized urban life. Therefore, from the perspective of urban space, which technical means should we apply, which management mode should we use? How to achieve this lifestyle? This project is based on these three points to explore how to efficiently create future urban life.

Experimental base

Needs follow people

In 1958, Yona Friedman published his first manifesto : "Mobile architecture". It described a new kind of mobility not of the buildings, but for the inhabitants, who are given a new freedom. To be compared with Piano and Roger’s projects, his work is more about flexibility. Mobile architecture is the "dwelling decided on by the occupant" by way of "infrastructures that are neither determined nor determining". Mobile architecture embodies an architecture available for a "mobile society". To deal with it, the classical architect invented "the Average Man". The projects of architects in the 1950s were undertaken, according to Friedman, to meet the needs of this make-believe entity, and not as an attempt to meet the needs of the actual members of this mobile society. The teaching of architecture was largely responsible for the "classical" architect's under-estimation of the role of the user. Furthermore, this teaching did not embrace any real theory of architecture. Friedman proposed then teaching manuals for the fundamentals of architecture for the general public. The spatial city, which is a materialization of this theory, makes it possible for everyone to develop his or her own hypothesis. This is why, in the mobile city, buildings should : 1. touch the ground over a minimum area 2. be capable of being dismantled and moved 3. be alterable as required by the individual occupant.

CONNECTION ACTIVATOR The original intention of the project was to discover abandoned areas on campus and try to activate them. I chose this base because the area is on a school boundary and the conflict is more intense. These conflicts have led to the abandonment of large tracts of land, but also indicate more opportunities at the same time. Although the plan is based on traditional location and needs analysis, I hope to be able to explore the possibility of new relationships between students, young workers, and residents through the guidance of space and the configuration of flow lines. 9

Location:Siping Rd, Shanghai Area:5000 ㎥ Individual work Academic work in first semester of senior Time:09/2018-12/2018

The site is located in the southeast corner of Siping Road Campus of Tongji University in Yangpu District, Shanghai. To the east is Siping Road, an urban expressway. Opposite the road is the new campus of Tongji University under construction and a large number of residential areas. The west side of the site is the only 400-meter playground at Tongji University. Yangpu District is one of the most densely populated areas in China. The average house price is around 20,000 US dollars per square meter, so large playgrounds are very attractive to citizens. However, the site has been in a state of desolation and does not match its lot properties. After analysis, the most important cause is that the road surface of Siping Road is too wide and the traffic volume is large. Based on this circumstance, this design aims to revive the urban corner space, and further surrounds the three basic objects of residents, students, and white-collar workers, giving the space a higher value potential

Due to the blocking of Siping Road, residents cannot reach the area's only playground for exercise activities in the fastest and safest route. So the average time cost for walk is close to 70% of the actual exercise time

The population density of this area has reached 27,000 people per square kilometer. In this densely populated area, the public space is scarce, so the connection with limited public area as a node appears to be particularly important.

The population composition of this area is divided into three categories: residents, students, office workers. Due to the extremely high population density, there is a greater possibility of interaction between the three.

RECORD HOTEL

RECORD & COUPLE & ARCHITECTURE

This is one of the most interesting projects I have ever done. When I received the task for a theme hotel, the first idea that flashed in my mind was the record. As a rare antique on the market, the record carried many childhood memories. Therefore, I want to use the characteristics of the record to record the sound, to explore the meaning of the building's life and people's psychological feelings. I hope this will open up a new way of thinking about the relationship between building and people.

Translation

In ancient times, people almost passed word only by mouth. It was not until the industrial era in 1873 that Edison invented the gramophone to completely change this situation. Records also came into being. However, this 10-inch record has a lot of shortcomings. Its speed is too fast, resulting in a short playing time, only about 10 minutes. The vinyl record we are now familiar with appeared in the 1950s, But the emergence of digital music has greatly hit the record industry. Digital music is compressed and stored in binary. This method will affect the sound quality to a certain extent. However, the record is different, because the sound wave is converted into mechanical vibration, which can guarantee to save it without any quality lost. This is also an important reason for the rise of vinyl records nowadays, which also becomes my inspiration.

Motivation Technical Strategy

"Record Hotel" is a small-scale building. The target group is mainly couples. Starting from the record, it studies its development history and production principles, and translates the meaning carried by the record into the building through space and construction methods. Therefore, this solution is not only a space design, but also covers my thinking about the life of the building and people's psychology.

Privacy is a very sensitive topic for most people. The first reaction to this wall that can record the voice of life is to be alert, as if someone is eavesdropping next door. In fact, there are many ambiguities in life, and it is precisely those behaviors that try to break through traditional cognition to make many people get pleasure from it. Therefore, the "record hotel" is challenging privacy to a certain extent, but no one knows whose sound it is. Where your voice is engraved, even if it is found, it is like finding a needle in a haystack from the sound with worrying quality. But for couples who live only one day, this is a completely new experience. The sound of sex will be recorded, but no one knows. At the same time, you can also explore the voice of others. You only need a small hard card to hear the record. The lives of others are on the wall, and these are also the lives of this building, a real testimony 17

WAREHOUSE RENOVATION OF SUZHOU RIVER

How to give new functions to old buildings in the urban context of the new era is the focus of this project. Under the guidance of instructor, we learned many classic cases such as ARUP Melbourne Office, Shanxi Re-veil Factory Renovation and so on. Therefore, we focus on how to explore the more possibilities of the old building by reconstructing the boundary from the perspective of the needs of the block.

The project site is located at 230 Yanqing Lane, Xiamen Road, Shanghai. It was used as a port warehouse 50 years ago and has been abandoned for many years. It is adjacent to the Suzhou River in the north and the Lanes residential area in the south. From the perspective of location analysis, this place is close to the railway station, People's Square, Nanjing East Road, and the Oriental Pearl Tower, so it has high investment value. However, from the perspective of the situation of the base itself, there are many problems, such as low land utilization, inadequate surrounding supporting facilities, and severe shortage of public space. Therefore, the design goal is to expand the radius of influence while retaining the northern facade of the building and its structure, make full use of existing resources and activate the potential of the block

After the preliminary investigation and analysis, we have proposed a number of plans to maximize the value of the old factory itself and the surrounding urban environment. Finally, we have decided to divide the old factory into four parts, and carry out highly targeted renovation and design of these four parts. , But also consider the organic combination between them. First, for the riverside part, I hope to make full use of the riverside landscape through the form of corridors. Second, the office area will be lowered to increase the level and form an atrium. Third, the middle part of the factory will be opened to connect the riverside and residents. District; Finally, add supporting public activity facilities in community streets
