Looking at this masterpiece of art of a multi-panel (ill.2 in opened fashion, closed situation see ill.4) a Sustainable society of world citizens (liberated cosmopolitans) is shown in the middle panel called the Garden of Earthly Delights. The people and animals are living together in co-existence. Nowadays our society still is framed in the right panel, a worldview which is ruled by disharmony, let’s call it old-fashioned ‘hell’, a transitional phase in evolution of mankind. 3 Human mankind is yet (re)searching to find a dynamic balanced society of sustaining. Painter Hieronymus Bosch introduces on left panel the ‘first humans’ Adam and Eve. God the Father stands literally between them in the Middle, God acts as Go-between. He divides man and woman who are new born and innocent free of sin without experience. Knowledge symbolized by the Tree of Knowledge with the forbidden fruit, the Apple. In ancient time the apple of paradise was symbolized by a delightful Pine Cone full of vitamins; in temptation they disobeying the holy law to eat this apple. After leaving the Garden of Eden an ‘exodus’ followed, the global spreading of our ancestors. They lived as settled ‘gardeners’ in agricultural areas before housing in urban settlements like Ur and Babylon in fertile region of Mesopotamia (meaning: the middle land of rivers!) the fertile land between two rivers Euphrates and Tigris.

Following the text in old testament they lost their innocence and their place in Paradise, a place that looks like (‘para’ means appearance) Heaven on Earth but isn’t because people aren’t conscious of themselves (later called ‘homo sapiens sapiens’, Descartes Cogito ergo sum, translated I think, therefore I’m (exist). After being hunters and collectors and ‘gardeners or agri-culturals’ (farmers cultivating the country) man became early ‘citizens’ (latin ‘civis’ or ‘civilis’, people who had the legacies by Roman law being a Roman citizen, a resident living in the ‘urbs’ latin for common place, later called città in Italian or city as place of civilization, cultivation or ‘cultura’) or urbanists (citizens of Ur, referring the first city registered in Book of Holy Bible). ‘Ur’ means literally City. So ‘Ur’ is the origin of one of men most complicated phenomena we call city. A city is like a living organism, it grows and shrinks, sometimes it even disappears like the city of Ur or it ‘reincarnates’ like Rome, the everlasting city. Cities are common places where people with diverse profession live together, a spot of creativity. Collecting ‘Consciousness’ (Kant’s ‘Erklärung’ (Enlightenment) as being Self-responsible for life by individual re-search and own experience) and Sapientia (Knowledge of studying the ‘tree’) became essential as a human way of growth in spiritual mind (Da Vinci’s Uomo universalis as vitruviano). Da Vinci experienced with analyzing the human body by section. It was forbidden to exercise the human body as a divine gift. His analysis brought insight the human body met the golden section or divinio proportio. Da Vinci draw his famous Uomo Vitruviano, the divine man who was shaped in the perfection. In the middle panel (ill.5) people life as free, naked human beings between creatures of the creation, reborn in a central perfect circled pool of re-freshness, the center of the Earth. Around this pool in a perfect circle naked human beings riding on different kinds of animals in groups but in the opposite direction of running time (turning back in time: past?) in perspective of observer in front. Being in position of majority of painted people in their habitat and time it seems the move in coming time, in their presented future. They have reclaimed not being afraid or ashamed to be naked, being pure enjoying their natural state of being in a balanced coexistence with themselves and their environment. Human mankind released and deliberated of sins, relaxed enjoying the ‘delights’ (full delight or day-lights: being enlightened) of life. Bosch shows a (pro)vision or Prophecy of coming Enlightenment.

Co-existence of biodiversity and multicultural togetherness in joyful cooperation: enlightenment by lightness There is lot more to tell about this masterpiece of art. Look for instance at buildings with trees and flowers on the roof: sustainable green architecture per excellence. Human mankind has to discover its own existence and the existence of life in general, called Existentialism, being aware of themselves and the consequences of their activities as a result of reflection and self-reflection of the unfolded and discovered world around, our common environment (Brundtland report, Our common future, 1987). This way of getting aware and conscious cost them a lot of pain by slips, disillusion by experience, falling and rising, like painted in the rightwing of the opened shutter. An evolution of several phases will be needed before mankind reaches point Omega (Teihard de Chardin, The Phenomenon Man, 1955), the final destination of mankind, the essential meaning of life on Earth (even in Cosmos or Universe). Like our life and our Planet dynamic moves in progressive processes our lifestyle should be managed by circular and cycling thinking and acting, even our economy: a circular economy of integral (re)cycling. In a growing globalized world of multinational corporations (MNC) or multinational

Cosmopolitan Art like the worldwide manifestations of Christo and Jeane Claude made. They settled attention on existing subjects, which they covered with textiles. They never spoke in terms of packaging, they disguise things like a magician. This way of hiding an object increase the tension. It’s like a striptease-act or an indian templedance of veils. The presence of the present it lost, it is hidden, you only can guess what is inside the package, like what is happening just behind the curtains back on the stage; feelings of tingling! The hidden form of course gives you a certain impression, but you can imagine yourself what is hidden behind. Questioning: Is democracy in western countries really open and open minded? Or does it only look like? It is like unpacking your birthday-present. You still will be uncertain till the moment you deliver the paper from the surprise you got as gift. Surprise surprise, really Sur Prise (A price above the price you all ready paid for your present, that will be in “absense” till the moment it will be free of its temporary hidden existence! We play with love hide and seek even as adults: it’s fun anyway!The way the artistic couple presents their objects as presents cold be seen as a cosmo-politan statement of searching the truth, being free citizen, the wish of people to touch the reality of things, the reality behind what looks like showing its pure and open mindness. All spoken elements concerning Cosmopolism are integrated in the following model. It represents the unfolded development of a global model of a worldview based on open, unveiled co-operation.

The world market and economy would be really free if there would be a world market of fair trade and conditions based on the benefit of all people and environment, a human-ecological based economy on co-existence of global Life-support. Time to celebrate and stimulate CO-Existentialism. Deep Sustainability A deep Sustainability shows a social-ecological based, bio-based economy. Deep Sustain-Ability starts from Ecology as principle (left corner). Deep sustainability is based in the roots, the planet Earth as foundation.
