Academic facilities The Hixson-Lied Student Success Center (pictured) was opened in 2007. It includes space for academic tutors, a resource library, computer labs and study rooms. The Rod & Connie French Athletics Academic Center (second floor of the facility) is dedicated for student-athlete use only. It is conveniently located for easy access.

A great place to live With a population of more than 50,000, Ames is revered for its friendliness and its varied entertainment and cultural opportunities. Main street often bustles with parades and festivals (below) and Campustown (right) is full of shops and eateries, popular among students.
Beauty of Iowa State ISU has one of only three campuses nationally to earn a medallion (for its beauty) from the American Society of Landscape Architects. Centralized location Iowa State is located minutes from an interstate exchange meaning that it is less than a day’s drive from Minneapolis (204 miles), Kansas City (208), Omaha (131), St. Louis (295), Milwaukee (290) or Chicago (307). The state capital -- Des Moines (pictured) -- is 30 minutes from central campus. Located in the heart of the midwest, Ames boasts of a small-town charm with large city amenities nearby.

Steady Improvement The 2012 Cyclones continued the five-year streak of increasing the team’s win total from the previous season. In 2012, the Cyclones recorded the most wins in a season since 2005. With 37 in 2012, the Cyclones tied for second-most goals in a season in program history.
Brand-New Facilities In 2012, Iowa State played its first match at the $13 million Cyclone Sports Complex, a 2-0 win over TCU. The Cyclone Sports Complex features a brand-new stadium, locker rooms press box, team rooms and easily accessible parking. The Cyclones can also practice at the $10 million Bergstrom Indoor Training Facility.
RecordBreaking Crowds The Cyclones broke all attendance records in 2012. ISU had a record 1,451 fans for its home match against Iowa. Iowa State also set a new total attendance mark in 2012 with 6,569 fans coming to watch the Cyclones play their home matches.
Academic Success In 2012 Iowa State had a record 18 players earn Academic AllBig 12 honors. Two Cyclones (Megan Longobardi and Jessie Stewart) accumulated 4.0 grade-point averages in 2012. Ann Gleason was named an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America recipient in 2009.
All-American Dominguez Returns Senior Jennifer Dominguez returns for 2013 after an AllAmerican junior season Dominguez scored a Big 12 best 14 goals in 2012 Dominguez’s 14 goals were the second-most in a season in ISU history Dominguez was ranked No. 20 nationally in goals per game
Playing Professionally Since 2011 three Cyclones have continued to play soccer professionally. Mary Kate McLaughlin played for the Vancouver Whitecaps. Jordan Bishop was a member of the Boston Breakers organization. Elisa Berzins played professionally in Iceland.
