2009 Membership Guide

Cyclones in the Community Cyclone student-athletes serve as goodwill ambassadors for Iowa State University by frequently involving themselves in community activities and giving back to those in need. Each year, student-athletes from various teams coordinate service projects and spend many hours of their free time assisting others in the community. Student-athletes participate in various activities such as autograph sessions, hospital visits, Toys for Tots, Habitat for Humanity, Adopt an Angel, Run for the Cure and many more.

“Volunteering helped me take a step back and appreciate how truly blessed I am.” - Jennifer Hornbaker, Gymnastics

“It gives you a sense of how blessed we are as student-athletes. It seems like a small thing to do, but it means a lot to the people we help out.” - Eric Lindquist, Men’s Golf

Director’s Message Dear fellow Cyclones, I am continually impressed with the ability of our Cyclone studentathletes to balance the academic and athletics responsibilities of competing in the nation’s premiere conference. It is equally pleasing to see the drive of our studentathletes, more than 400 strong, to give back to a community which supports them with such passion and energy. Members of the Cyclone Club comprise our mostimportant support organization and your donations fund student-athlete scholarships, supplement the operating budgets of our sports and are the backbone for funding the future of your athletics program. That future includes investing in the improvement and maintenance of our facilities, attracting and retaining the best coaches and staff, providing necessary support functions for success and recruiting the brightest and most-talented student-athletes. Being able to accomplish those initiatives requires a significant financial investment. Continuing to build a sound financial base – through increased membership in and donations to the Cyclone Club – is the only way we can deliver the successful program you desire. You have our assurance that we will use your investment to the best of our abilities in developing an athletics program you can be proud of. If you are not currently a Cyclone Club member, please consider how your gift can help make a difference. To current Cyclone Club members, I thank you for your generous support of Iowa State University student-athletes. Go Cyclones!

Jamie Pollard Director of Athletics

Priority Seating To receive 2009 seating privileges, a Cyclone Club contribution must be made according to the priority deadlines – May 1 for football and August 1 for men’s basketball. The Cyclone Club and ISU Athletics Ticket Office work together to review requests for acquiring new season tickets, changing seat locations and/or adding additional season tickets. Donors may purchase four seats in a priority seating area (except for Directors Level donors who may purchase up to eight season tickets in their desired location) for football and men’s basketball. If a donor desires more than four seats in a priority area, an additional 25% of their annual club level is required for each additional seat. Otherwise, the additional seats will be located in a non-donor area. Priority seating minimum requirements are evaluated by the Athletics Department annually.

Seating Upgrades/Requests Seating requests for football and basketball are processed according to Cyclone Club donor level, priority points within that level and seat availability. Ticket requests must be in writing – either by writing the specifics on the renewal (hard copy or online) or attaching a letter to the renewal. After all renewals are processed, requests for new seats or seating changes are reviewed according to availability. Requests for new or improved seat locations are processed after season ticket renewal deadlines. Every effort is made to fulfill a request; however, changes are dependent upon seating availability.

Priority Parking Donor parking for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball is distributed according to Cyclone Club level and priority points within that level. Consult the chart on pages 7-8 for specific donor level parking benefits. Donors must make their annual Cyclone Club contribution by the priority deadlines established to be eligible for priority parking. If no spots are available in a desired lot, donors will receive the next best location. Football To purchase a donor season parking permit, complete the parking section on the season ticket renewal. The diagram (page 7) outlines minimum donation requirements for each available lot. Donors, who do not purchase season tickets, should contact the ISU Athletics Ticket Office to inquire about purchasing parking. Limited general public parking, available on gameday only, is available north of Hilton Coliseum and south of Jack Trice Stadium. General public parking is managed by the ISU Department of Public Safety. Men’s & Women’s Basketball Donors, who are men’s and/or women’s basketball season ticket holders, automatically receive a parking permit (at no charge) with proximity to Hilton Coliseum based on Cyclone Club level and priority points within that level. Donors, who are not season ticket holders, may request a parking permit from the Cyclone Club Office in September. Men’s and women’s basketball donor parking information is available on page 8.

Frequently Asked Questions In what order are priority seating and parking benefits assigned? Donor benefits for priority seating and parking are assigned in the order of (1) highest annual giving level and (2) individual donor rank––based upon priority point totals––within that giving level. How do I request a seating change? Please write any request on the ticket renewal or submit a separate written request to the ISU Athletics Ticket Office via e-mail, fax or mail. It is important to describe in detail exactly what you are requesting (use section, row and seat numbers if applicable). Customers who renew seats online can make their request on their online ticket renewal. I’ve requested a seating change. How does the ticket office process my request? The ISU Athletics Ticket Office places every seating request in order by donor level and then priority points within that level. It’s important to note the ticket office defines an upgrade as lower and closer to mid-court or mid-field unless specific directives are given by the ticket holder. If clarification or additional information is needed regarding the request, the ticket holder will be contacted by the ticket office. How do I request my football season tickets and/or parking stall to be near friends? Donors wishing to park in the same lot or sit in the same section as friends must indicate this information on the football season ticket renewal. It is necessary that all parties indicate their desire to sit and/or park together on their respective renewal forms. The assignment is based on the party with the lowest donation level and/ or priority point total. As a young adult do I qualify for any special offers? Cyclone fans ages 20 to 29 can purchase up to two football and/or men’s basketball tickets at a significantly reduced rate (almost half) if he or she is a member of the Cyclone Club. A copy of the ticket holder’s driver’s license must be provided to the ISU Athletics Ticket Office to receive this discount.

Priority Points The Cyclone Club uses a priority points system to provide consistent, fair and equitable allocation of donor benefits (primarily priority seating/parking and requests for seating upgrades). Benefits are distributed according to Cyclone Club membership level and then by priority points within that level. Priority points accumulate from year-to-year on a donor’s account and are not transferable. Donations to other campus departments or units do not qualify for Cyclone Club priority points. Priority points are awarded annually for: Factor Current Year Giving to Athletics Lifetime Giving to Athletics
