LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

Cape York Peninsula is widely recognised as a linguistic treasury. Our many languages are keys to some of the oldest continuous living traditions on the planet.

These languages are now, however, fragile and immediately threatened. Language and culture need support to flourish within and outside of our schools. It is also critical that, while ensuring Cape York children grow up learning their language and culture, we also ensure Cape York adults do the same and build the other necessary skills they need to be strong cultural, professional, spiritual leaders.
