CAMPAGNOLO TT 2012 CAMPAGNOLO PRESENTS THE NEW BAR-END CONTROLS AND BRAKE LEVERS DEDICATED TO TIME TRIAL AND TRIATHLON
From grand tour stage races to the demanding Triathlon World Championships, races can be won or lost by a split second. In these competitions, where even the smallest loss of speed costs precious seconds, the weight and aerodynamics of the components used are crucial. With these important details in mind, engineers at the Campy Tech Lab have designed and created components dedicated to time trial style competitions. They have implemented innovative solutions, specifically in performance along with optimised aerodynamics and weight reduction. The 2012 range will include these products dedicated to Time Trial: • • • •
BAR-END CONTROLS TT CRANKSETS TT BRAKE LEVERS “U BRAKES”
Thanks to the introduction of these new components dedicated to the world of speed, it is now possible to equip your time trial bike with complete 11 or 10-speed Campagnolo drivetrains.
BAR-END CONTROLS The brand new bar-end shifters (available in 11 and 10 speed) have been designed by engineers in the Campy Tech Lab and tested in the wind tunnel to allow maximum performance in terms of weight and aerodynamic efficiency. Aerodynamic efficiency is maximized thanks to the «Back to Zero position» mechanism that always keeps the lever in the optimal position with respect to airflow. Thanks to the ergonomic design, the hands are always in a position to enhance the rider's aerodynamic profile while maintaining ease of shifting.

BENEFITS
Back to zero position
To optimize the aerodynamic position and ergonomics
Adjustable starting position
Maximum ergonomics in respect to the shape of the handle bars and the personal position of the hands
New internal mechanism
Reduction of the required load for upshifting and down-shifting and positive indexed feeling
Multiple shifting
Shift up and down up to 3 sprockets at a time with one swing of the lever
Micro index adjustment of the front derailleur
Allows small adjustments to the position of the front derailleur to keep it in an optimal position with respect to the chain line
“Double shape” levers
Optimal ergonomics reduces the effort to activate the levers to a minimum and maintain an aerodynamic position
External cable routing
Special cable routing allows for fitting the cables with no need to remove the cable housing easing assembly and maintenance
BACK TO ZERO POSITION
ADJUSTABLE STARTING POSITION
“ZERO” POSITION
Maximum ergonomics in respect to the shape of the handle bars and the personal position of the hands
Shift up and down up to 3 sprockets at a time with one swing of the lever
The start position can be adjusted to fit your own riding position and will always return to the «Back to Zero position». Shifting is quick, accurate and comfortable thanks to the ergonomic shape designed to enhance up and down shifting.
ERGONOMIC DESIGN
Optimal ergonomics reduces the effort to activate the levers to a minimum and maintain an aerodynamic position.

TT CRANKSETS The second component designed by engineers at Campy Tech Lab is the new crankset with TT chainrings. Lab research has shown that, although the diameter of the TT chainrings is larger, the crankset is as rigid as the crankset with standard chainrings (53/39). This maintains optimal transfer of power from the pedals to the wheel via the chainring and the chain. The X.P.S.S. technology (Extreme Performance Shifting System) allows for consistently accurate and fast shifting, even under load. This is enhanced by the 8 upshifting and 2 downshifting zones of the chainring and the special design of the teeth. The TT crankset will be available for Super Record (also titanium spindle version), Record and Chorus in the 42/54 and 42/55 combinations.

RIGIDITY
The F.E.M. analysis we made compare the rigidity of the 39/53 and 42/55 chainrings. The tests prove that the chainrings have the same rigidity values despite the larger diameter. Extreme Performance Shifting System
TT/TRI BRAKE LEVERS The new TT/Tri brake levers have been designed at Campy Tech Lab and tested in the wind tunnel ensuring the creation of an innovative, ergonomic, light and high performance product. The levers have an ergonomic design, especially created to follow hand movements and maintain an aerodynamic position even during braking. Strength required to activate the levers is reduced to a minimum thanks to their special curvature. The levers are fitted with a special quick-release system that allows for easy removal of the wheels. The weight is minimal, both in the carbon version (85 g) and in the aluminium version (106 g).
