as summer service fun. I would also like to thank you all for helping me raise $72 so far which is going toward my goal of $142.20 for the Eliminate Project. Even if we do not reach that goal by August 1, I hope you all continue to have fundraisers to support your individual clubs and Key Club organization. In addition, it is important to fundraise to aid your local community so that your club can stay connected with the special events that occur in only your community. I hope you all stay strong in this

This past month, Downey High has strictly focused on cleaning up the community with

Club.News

monthly events such as Keep Downey Beautiful and Downey Initiative. At these events, the club members go out into their very own city to touch up the school campus, local

parks, main streets, and railroad tracks. In addition, members woke up relatively early on July 20th in order to head out to Compton to paint Caesar Chavez Continuation School a brand new coat of beige paint. All board members left with a big smile on their face as

Downey | | Huntington Park The Key Club of Huntington Park High has been flourishing with multiple events. One that they highly focused on was Relay for Life. The club members have been raising money through fundraisers leading onto the event. The club continued to fundraise during the event by offering to paint faces and hennas for a small $2 donation. By the end of the night, the club happily donated a whooping $857 to the American Cancer Society! In addition to that, the club took advantage of their creative members by holding another face-painting tent at their local community fair. Great Job HP!

Lakewood High School Key Club recently helps at their Lakewood Block Party. At the

block party, members volunteer to help businesses earn a couple bucks, which also

contribute to funding the community’s library. Members work behind tents and help sell merchandise. Other members walk around trying to advertise different booths to bump

up business. Furthermore, members stand around and collect tickets from a consumer. Lakewood High did a great job raising money toward the Angelo M. Iacoboni and George Nye, Jr. Library. These members truly show their dedication toward education! Keep working toward a smarter world Lakewood!

Lakewood | | Norwalk

The Key Club of Norwalk High has taken many ventures this past month. This club hosted a beach clean up at Seal Beach. Furthermore, they have been working on recruiting students from their local middle schools to gain a larger number in membership. These members also happened to be dedicating their time at Habitat for Humanity, which happens to be a thrift store in the area. Norwalk’s Key Club goes out to donate clothing to the thrift shop and help clean shelves and racks. In addition to all of those ventures, Norwalk has been advertising the Kiwanis Carnival by selling pre-sale tickets for a second month. Continue to make your division proud Norwalk!

Club.News

In order to help Kiwanis with their carnival in the next month, South Gate’s Key Club members went out to the city of Bellflower and posted flyers and posters all over the neighborhood. The club made sure that the entire community knew that the carnival will be in town. Through their communication, they hope to help their Kiwanis Club of Huntington Park raise funds and gain a better bond with their leaders.

South Gate | | Warren

For the past three Saturdays of June and July, Warren High’s Key Club met up with their local Downey First Christian Church to help distribute food to the needy. Each member packs and bags an unlimited amount of fruits and vegetables and hand them out to the less fortunate. The club clearly shows a passion to cure hunger with events like these and especially by helping out in the pantry at the PTA Help Room. Warren High, you guys make a rocking contribution to our division!
