UX Design Journey

Page 1

Seeking for a career change while also pursuing their dreams, both Bob and John decided it was the right time for them to set foot into the world of UX Design.

Both Bob and John completed the first several weeks of the program working on individual projects. Now, it is time to start on their first of three team projects.

As the names of team members in different groups were revealed, both Bob and John were the selected lucky two!

Their project brief were handed to them which included the problem statement, features to consider and a timeline they should follow for the next two weeks.

As others broke into their groups, both Bob and John started talking about ideas. And things started to get a little bit edgy...

As they continued to discuss their ideas for the project, it was apparent to Bob that John did not understand the problem statement...and that's when he broke down...

Fortunately, both Bob and John were able to settle on their ideas. To begin their project, they conducted research on the company.

After gathering all the information that they need on their company, they moved onto competitive research on companies such as Dreamworks and Paramount Picture to get a better understanding of how their business works.

Once the information were collected, they were ready to start user flows. Bob jumped right onto Omnigraffle, his favorite program, to plot out the clicks and pages to complete a task.

Bob also decided to create a survey online using Google Forms to better understand the user's characteristics and attitudes when using a similar site to theirs.

With the success of the survey, both Bob and John decided to take a step further. They screened out and chose participants to interview in person.

Most interviews went well except for a few...But even so, both Bob and John never gave up because there must be important findings that will come up eventually!

And then there were a few words of wisdom exchanged during the interview...

Bob and John decided to give contextual inquiry a try as well...but some interviews might've been best to not have been conducted...

With the data collected from the research, survey and interviews, Bob and John were ready to move onto the next phase, 4 List Method, which would lead into feature prioritization.

With their awesome findings and features, both Bob and John finally moved onto Design Studio! For each design sketched, they timed themselves for 5 minutes.

After several sketches, both of them reached a final design which they would use to transfer into Sketch3.

Once they were done creating it on Sketch3, the next step is to make it into a workable prototype. They have a choice of using Invision, Hype or Axure.

Both Bob and John decided to use Invision for their first prototype to begin their usability test.

After several usability tests on their first prototype, they took the feedbacks they've received and made a second iteration and then tested again.

The more usability testing they did, the more findings they got...even if it had nothing to do with their prototype!

After countless of iterations and testings, Bob and John finally reached a final prototype that is ready to be presented to the world!

With their project and presentation completed, Bob and John thanked each other for their hard work and realized how much they appreciated each other as teammates and friends!

THANK YOU FOR A MEMORABLE UXDI SUMMER 2015 JOURNEY!
