CYPRESS UMC WEDDING INFORMATION AND POLICIES 2013
Wedding Coordinator weddings@cypress-umc.org
MAKING THE RESERVATION A reservation will be confirmed only when: The Pastor or an Associate of Cypress UMC has agreed to officiate. The calendar is clear for the use of the Sanctuary or Worship Center. A refundable deposit of $200 is received. Dates should not be announced until the Wedding Coordinator has confirmed the reservation. The exact hour of the rehearsal and wedding must be scheduled at the time the Sanctuary is reserved. Because of difficulties in securing adequate help, weddings may not be scheduled during Holy Week, on a Sunday, or on the following days: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day. If these holidays fall adjacent to weekends, we will not schedule a wedding for the holiday weekend. Wedding ceremonies should begin no later than 5 PM and no earlier than 12 PM. Weddings with an on-site reception should begin no later than 2 PM and should last no longer than 4 hours.
PRE-WEDDING REQUIREMENTS CONFERENCES: The bride and groom are required to schedule 3 conferences with the Pastor or Associate who will be officiating at least 30 days before the wedding. COUNSELING: It is required that the bride and groom complete 3 counseling sessions with Krist Samaritan Counseling Center (this is included in the cost of all wedding packages) or attend a certified “Twogether in Texas” premarital counseling seminar. These can be found at twogetherintexas.com. FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY: Cypress UMC does not require, but STRONGLY suggests, going through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University course. We offer the class twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. For couples who have their wedding at Cypress UMC, we will offer the FPU class at half price, either during the engagement or the first year of marriage.
