Buildings are clustered together to free up large common spaces for recreation, learning and production Different building typologies offer choice and form a diverse environment.
The proposed s-shaped street is the main transit backbone and the most urban public space lined with cafes, restaurants and shops.

Land use plan shows mixed use and public buildings concentrated primarily alongside the main street.
Analysis of the effects of higher building density showed some negatives like blocking the sun on public space. This can be ameliorated trough architectural design, while maintaining the same building density.

SIEMENSSACKER TRANSFORMING THE INDUSTRIAL AREA INTO FLEXIBLE SPACE This was my first extracurricular contribution to an urban planning project. The task demanded the organization of the wider industrial area, accommodating new mobility options and flexible configurations of space. We planned the space not only to be flexible in terms of long-term user appropriation, but also to be able to shift functions during the day, weekends or in different seasons.
Parking garages can be used for different functions during day & night Haphazardly parked cars were compressed in to circular multifunctional buildings.

Productivity within this project is more than just economic, it is social and communal. Users of the space are encouraged to design their spaces according to the multiplicity of needs and desires they want to fulfil. A mixed-use cooperative allows for the convergence of different spheres linking residential uses with productive and cultural ones. The pilot project in itself can become an intricate network where every user can find their place. Each future project can be different, based upon a common vision, whether youth, intergenerational, familial housing, or any other, which can then be adapted in the modular structure in a way that fits with their vision.

PERCEPTIONS OF SPACE IN COMMUNITY PLACES | HOW TO FOSTER PLACE IDENTITY, ATTACHMENT AND BELONGING Publicly accessible community places have materialized by very different processes than typical public places. They represent a bottom-up answer to shaping of cities by neoliberal capitalism. Community places allow people to change them accordingly to their needs and preferences. Therefore, they tend to be used for functions not typically included in public space like learning and production. These new activities and behaviours foster different perceptions and feelings about places. I researched two similar case studies in different contexts and analysed them using the place (physical environment), person (perceptions and feelings), and process (creation and organization) frameworks. The processes, place and perceptions of space all together engender particular urban atmospheres. These represent the essential answer to a question what kind of place is this. Urban atmospheres include internal perceptions, stories and meanings as well as external factors like physical places, people and activities. To holistically design urban space, manipulation of urban atmospheres is necessary. This can be done by affecting individual elements of atmospheres. By investigating the links and connections between the three elements, my research provided practical recommendations for urban designers and knowledge for community activists. Practical recommendations for encouraging positive emotions about space include allowing appropriation of space by its users, lowering the participation threshold, expanding functions and preserving space familiarity.

CYCLING PATH ANALYSIS | EVALUATING THE CYCLING EXPERIENCE During a workshop for the PKP cy- cling organization in Ljubljana, we set out to analyze the 42 kilometres long cycling path, built along the site of an old railway connection between Trieste and PoreÄ?. We drove along the entire length of the path and carefully recorded and mapped the spatial qualities of the path. We used the Kevin Lynch methodology to visualize the experience. The goal of the analysis was to define the strengths and weaknesses in order to propose recommendations for improvements.

HUB DOBROVA | PERI-URBAN VILLAGE GETS CONNECTED TO THE CITY AND REDISCOVERS NATURE The task called for a proposal for the development and improvement of the preurban settlement. During the spatial analysis of the village, three main problems were identified. First, there is a high number of cars commenters driving through from the development area every day. Secondly, the village is confined by the two roads, which are difficult to cross. Even though it is surrounded by wide open space, feels cramped and penned in. Thirdly, South part of the flood region, which floods every five to ten years of time. The proposed solution is twofold. One part of it is the bike lane connecting to the centre of City. This way the biking distance is shortened from about 30 minutes to 12 minutes. Bike lane enters the development area from main City over the green roof of the new transport hub, which ameliorates all three spatial problems. First, the transit hub offers a broad array of sustainable transport options, and a modern, comfortable way to switch between them. It can serve as a park and ride hub for the wider area. Secondly, the green roof brings unimpeded access to open nature from within the development area. It opens up the settlement, provides a new public place and offers a unique panoramic view of the development area, improving the image of the place. Thirdly, the green roof also forms part of the dike system protecting the development area and main City area from floods by allowing the accumulation of a lake. Bike path to main City partially runs on top of the dike system.

The bike lane is designed to be enjoyable to use. From City, it approaches the development area on a panoramic dike, and arrives to the top of the green roof. Cyclists can then let go and descend down the ramp, while enjoying panoramic views of the main square. At the base, the path ends in a loop, where cyclists slow down by turning, before finally landing at the multi-modal transit hub beneath.
