A letter from your
Club President D
ear fellow Key Clubbers,
The 2016-2017 Key Club year has officially started and I couldn’t be more excited! I feel truly honored to be able to serve such an amazing club with such outstanding individuals. To be a part of a club that has the goal and passion to serve the community is such a beautiful thing. The officer team and I accepted the mission of service during our DCON trip. At our district convention, we were able to meet and connect with other Key Clubbers all over the Texas and Oklahoma district and were also able to learn so many tips on how to better our club through new service projects we can do, new ways to raise money for charities, and new ways to impact our community. We also received the ranking of #7 out of the whole T-O District! This wouldn’t be possible without all of y’all’s dedication to service and kind hearts. The officer team and I left DCON fully motivated to make this Key Club year the best by planning future impactful events Photo provided by Anushua Mantrala. and strategizing how to make our Key Club time the most effective! At DCON, we were given the pleasure to listen to a keynote speaker, Houston Kraft. Houston Kraft spread the powerful message of always choosing love. Even when someone is difficult, always choose love. As Key Clubbers, we must always preform that action in everything we do. Our job is to help people through service with love and care. Whether we are making a big impact or a small impact, the point is that an impact is being made period. Someone somewhere is receiving help through our acts and that is such an amazing thing when you think about it! This year we are planning to utilize all social media platforms so we can spread the message of service all over the place. Also since we have such a huge club with so many members, social media will allow us to see the volunteering acts of our fellow Key Clubbers! I wish you all the best with upcoming testing and finishing out the school year. I know you guys will do great! There is only a couple of months before the school year ends so make sure those hours are getting done. I’m so proud of the service you have done this semester and know the last bit of this semester will be filled with kind acts and helping. Yours in Service,

Bittersweet
How our Webmaster feels about the end of this Key Club year. Each year, D C O N provides an opportunity to its attendees that no o t h e r Kishan Solanki event can Webmaster provide other than ICON itself. Our District Convention in Dallas, gives thousands of Key Clubbers a clean start to the next year with new ideas and tips on how to make Key Club better, but DCON also bring an end to the long hard year of work that each Key Clubber has spent helping their own community. When it’s time for DCON, I know two things: the year is coming to an end and that next year will be even better. As the year is coming to an end, all Key Clubbers could agree with me
8
that it’s just a bit bitter sweet. You know that next year will be filed with great new ideas, but moving on from this year to the next can be a bit difficult. With all the time spent bonding with our fellow members, and completing countless community service hours, it’s hard to think that that year is over, even if there is a next year. We feel this way because change is never comfortable it just is what happens over time. Sure we may want to stay in one era our whole lives, but change is what gives life its timeline that we can all look back on and cherish forever. With the year’s end, comes the following year’s beginning. This sprout of a new year in Key Club begins with tons of spirit and ideas that extended from DCON and all it had to offer. With new ways of streamlining our club, to T-Shirt ideas, DCON
lends tons innovation to each club who is fortunate to attend this great collection of clubs across our district. With all members focused on what Key Club is all about, the club prospers in what should be completed within the year and starts all its project planning for the year. This is what DCON signals the coming of, it signals new ideas, new growth, new service. That’s just the way any Key Clubber would like to start the year off. Any little idea, seems important, and any service seems community changing. With this in the minds of Key Clubber’s across Texas & Oklahoma, communities began to become a better place one service act at a time. A new year is a new opportunity to change our communities, an opportunity that all Key Clubbers should take advantage of !
