Susanna Roth Award

More than a hundred translators from 16 countries around Europe and Asia entered the 7th year of the international translation competition The Susanna Roth Award organized together with the Czech Literary Centre. The competition text was an excerpt from the book called Uranova by Lenka Elbe (ARGO, 2020) who later received Magnesia Litera for the best debut of the year. The highest number of translators traditionally came from Poland. The newest participants were from India and Slovakia.

Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. The summer meeting of the laureates was moved to the spring of 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

POSTPONED MEETING OF THE WINNING TRANSLATORS IN THE SUSANNA ROTH AWARD 2020

Between 22nd and 26th September 2021, the postponed meeting of the laureates of SRA 2020 took place in Prague. The programme included expert seminars, meetings with the author of the translated text Veronika Bendová (Vytěženej kraj, 2019, FRA), participation in the Book World 2021 Fair as well as educational activities associated with the Literature Night, National Gallery Prague and a literary tour of Prague mapping the personality of Franz Kafka.
