Structured cabling falls into six subsystems • • • • • •
Entrance Facilities is where the building interfaces with the outside world. Equipment Rooms houses equipment which serves the users inside the building or campus. Telecommunications Rooms connects between the backbone cabling and horizontal cabling subsystems. Backbone Cabling connects between the entrance facilities, equipment rooms and telecommunication rooms. Horizontal Cabling connects telecommunications rooms to individual outlets on the floor. Work-Area Components connects end-user equipment to outlets of the horizontal cabling system
