HEAD MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SOCCER COACH MICHAEL MCBRIDE Michael McBride enters his third season as the Blinn College head men’s and women’s soccer coach. He has coached at the collegiate level for 21 years. The Blinn women’s team concluded the 2020-21 season with a programbest 6-3 record and claimed a spot in the NJCAA Region XIV Women’s Soccer Tournament for the first time in the program’s three-year history. The Blinn men’s team finished the 2020-21 season with a 6-8 record (5-7 in conference) and claimed a spot in the NJCAA Region XIV Men’s Soccer Tournament for the third time in its three-year history. In addition, the women’s and men’s soccer teams were named 2020-21 NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year. McBride holds a 248-139-21 record (.641 winning percentage) as a men's and women's soccer coach. He has earned 13 coach of the year honors and 11 of his players have moved on to play professionally, including one player who played for Canadian men’s national team (senior team). Prior to Blinn, McBride spent three seasons as the head women's soccer coach at Nicholls State University. Under McBride's direction, the Colonels earned the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award in 2016, 2017, and 2018; earned the highest grade-point average in the 21-year history of the program; and clocked the highest annual community engagement hours in program history. Prior to Nicholls State, McBride spent 16 seasons (2001-2016) as the head men's soccer coach for Notre Dame College. For eight years (20092016), he also served as the college's Assistant Athletic Director for Community Engagement. McBride started the men's soccer program at Notre Dame College in 2001 and helped it transition from the NAIA level to the NCAA Division II ranks. Under his direction, the Falcons posted a 213-76-16 overall record (.737), the highest winning percentage in program history. McBride's team won the American Mideast North Division championship in its second season (2002), then won four more division championships (2004-07), three conference titles (2008, 2009, and 2010), and made four NAIA National Championship appearances (2005, 2008, 2009, and 2010). In 2010, McBride guided Notre Dame to a 23-1-0 record and the program's first National Championship Final. He has coached 25 All-Americans, 23 All-Academic athletes, two American Midwest Conference (AMC) North Players of the Year, an AMC Freshman of the Year, an AMC Player of the Year, two Mountain East Conference MEC) Players of the Year, an NAIA National Player of the Year (2010), and an Independents Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) National Player of the Year (2011). Before entering the collegiate coaching ranks, McBride was a Professional Footballers Association Community Coach from 1992-94. In

addition, he was an assistant coach at Walsh University from 1997-2000. Prior to his coaching career with Walsh, he was a scholarship athlete for the Cavaliers from 1995-1998. During his playing career, he earned AllAMC and All-Region honors and was an NAIA All-American nominee. Off the field, McBride was an NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete. McBride holds his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Senior "A" License, the United Soccer Coaches of America (USC) Premier Diploma (distinguished pass), Level 1, 2 & 3 Goalkeeping Diplomas and Director of Coaching Diploma. In addition, McBride also earned both a Preliminary and Preparatory Badge from the English Football Association. He earned his bachelor's degree in physical education and a Master's in Education from Walsh. He earned a second master's degree in education from Notre Dame College in spring 2013. McBride's wife, Becky, is Blinn's Vice Chancellor for Student Services. They have two daughters, Roisin and Alannah.
