MEET
DANIELLE
I’m Danielle, the owner & principal photographer of D. Lillian Photography. I currently reside in the Sacramento area with my husband and two children, and when I'm not shooting weddings on the weekends, we like to pound donuts and terrorize the aisles of Target as a family of four. A few fun facts about me: Wes Anderson films are a huge source of my inspiration I'm a night owl who almost never goes to bed before midnight and I regret it every morning I like food more than you

I took up photography somewhere around 13 years ago, when I spontaneously bought my first DSLR camera and booked a flight to Cambodia on the same day, desperate for adventure and much needed perspective. I had joined a group of other aspiring photographers from all over the world on a photography quest where we toured the villages, danced with the locals, and documented a culture that felt so refreshingly different than our own. It was on that trip where I developed my thirst for travel and photojournalism, and I've been in love with this hobby-turned-career ever since.

Having Danielle around made the whole day seem like I was just hanging out with a friend. She's extremely easy to work with, completely professional, her work is beautiful and her spirit is contagious. I'm not a huge fan of structured, posed photography and her candid shots completely capture the best parts of the day."

YOU
HAVE
QUESTIONS
Q: What sets you apart from other photographers?
A: I believe your wedding photos should be a reflection of who you are, and what you love, and that none of that has to fit into a photography template. I believe that by working together and by trusting me, we don't have to follow photography tradition or trends, and instead, we can create truly original art that will withstand the test of time.
Q: Are we a good fit?
A: I take on a maximum of 24 weddings a year, and it's really important for me to connect with my clients, and ensure that we're all on the same page. My ideal couples have an appreciation for art, an eye for aesthetic, and are kind, good-hearted human beings, and most importantly, they are madly in love and trust me to tell their story through my lens.
Q: Are we allowed to print our photos and share them on social media?
A: Yes! You can print the images whenever you like. While I cannot guarantee print quality through other labs, I highly recommend Artifact Uprising for their fine art quality prints. If you wish to share your images on social media, make sure to upload the hi-res images that are available upon download in your online gallery. Please also be sure to tag/credit me as well!
Q: Will my photos be posted publicly on your site or social media?
A: I respect your privacy and allow each client to decide whether or not they want their photos displayed publicly. I’d love to show off you & your images, if you’re game! If not, that's okay, too.
Q: Will you Photoshop my images to hide any unwanted spots, wrinkles, etc?
A: Minor edits will be made to all of your images, but I believe our imperfections are what make us beautiful & unique. If there are specific edits you want, these will be charged according to the number and complexity of edits.
Q: Do you have a list of preferred vendors to use?
A: Yes! From wedding planners to florists and caterers, I have worked with some of the best companies in the industry & would love to share their information with you!
I
HAVE
ANSWERS
Q: What equipment do you use?
A: I use all of the latest Canon equipment. I always carry the 5D Mark III, the Mark II, 50 mm lens, 35 mm lens, & the 70-200 mm lens, among other items.
Q: Do you photograph destination weddings?
A: Yes! I’ve shot dozens of destination weddings and am more than happy to create a custom wedding collection to suit your travel needs.
Q: Do you photograph elopements?
A: Of course! I have a 3 hour minimum for elopements.
Q: How do we reserve our wedding date?
A: A 50% deposit & signed contract is required in order to get your wedding on the calendar. The remainder of your balance is due one week prior to your wedding.
WEDDING
DAY
TIPS
In addition to documenting candid, unique moments from your wedding day, I also love capturing the small details that help piece together the story. Gather all of your important details before the starts, so I don't have to interrupt you during the 'getting ready' process and I can photograph them quickly. Getting ready photos are some of my favorite to capture, and I love how the energy and excitement is almost palpable. I always encourage my couples to keep the room they are getting ready in as clutter-free as possible, so the available space is clean, and distraction-free. Brides- please have your hair and makeup artist position you close to a window or where the most natural light exists. This will help to achieve the clean, airy feel you've seen in examples of my work. Here is a list of details I love to capture: rings, jewelry, flowers, shoes, cuff links, letters, invitations, paper goods, and any unique items you've put thought into.
Think about bringing a wooden hanger for your wedding dress. They are sturdy and can support the weight of your dress when I photograph it in a unique location.

WHAT
TO
ENGAGEMENT
EXPECT SESSION
Location
I always value input from my couples, and I love hearing your own ideas on locations that make sense for who you are as a couple. If you're drawing a blank and would prefer to leave that part up to me, I'm happy to take the reins and offer suggestions for unique, original locations, tailored to you as a couple.
Scheduling
Engagement sessions are scheduled 3-6 months in advance. Cancellations and reschedules must be made via email or phone at least 48 hours prior to your session. All deposits are non-refundable.
What to wear
Please don't believe the rumors that you need to match! Patterns, stripes, and bold colors photograph really well. Feel free to get creative with your wardrobe!
Style tip: If you're more comfortable in solid colors, try choosing something with a little texture. Patterns are a great way to add contrast to your images. Be creative, and don't be afraid to let your personal style come through.
