ALHAMBRA CLUB EVENTS
On August 31st, Alhambra Key Club’s first club meeting was held. As it was the club’s first in-person meeting in over a year due to the pandemic, Alhambra Top 5 officers (President Madison David (12), Vice Presidents Melanie Thongthai (12) & Athena Ngo (12), Secretary Emily Keath (11), and Treasurer Michelle La (11)) worked extra hard to plan a smooth meeting for everyone. They had to analyze how to hold the meeting without violating COVID-19 regulations set by Alhambra’s ASB. With help from advisor Mr. Antonio Kim, Alhambra Key pulled off an incredibly exciting and safe reunion, which became a treat to all members alike.
The meeting was hosted in Mr. Kim’s large classroom, where members sat in spaced rows and stood in clear areas in consideration of social distancing standards. Sergeant of Arms, or SOA, Isabella Lau (11) kicked off the meeting by asking everyone to stand and repeat the Key Club pledge. All members said the pledge loudly and proudly, happy to be together after an incredibly long time online. President Madison reintroduced the Top 5, which was followed by loud cheering from the room in support of yet another great leadership team. Vice Presidents Melanie & Athena also went over services for the upcoming month, both virtual and in-person. They spoke of the Bean Bean Bean and Rice Rice game, as well as the Ocean Hero search engine, as fun, online volunteering sources to earn hours for the month.

They also gave a recap on the Dodgers Run in-person volunteering opportunity, which occurred on Saturday, August 14th and received great participation. Aside from this, Alhambra PTA requested the presence of Key members to volunteer at the snack booth during home football games, which also counted as a source of hours. Many members were excited to get a head start on all activities given. The successful meeting ended off with the announcement of cabinet members and new members. Each member received a sash that stated their names (and cabinet positions), which served as a heartfelt welcome into the club.
