Club Updates

ELEANOR ROOSEVELT

On September 18th, ERHS Key Club had our monthly street clean up with our sponsoring Kiwanis! We had an incredible turnout, with so many new members attending and helping keep our community clean! Masks and gloves were worn as everyone picked up trash along Scholar way. This was an incredible opportunity for new members to meet their sponsoring Kiwanis, while also earning service hours by doing something great for their community!

On September 18th, Centennial High Key Club and Santiago High Key Club held a joint community service event from 5:30 AM - 11:00 AM. The event was split up into two shifts, the first being 2.5 hours and the second being 3 hours. Members helped set up, supervise, and run the Peppermint Ridge Run Event. The service event took place at Santa Ana Riverbed Trail West Riverside.

Hello everyone! For September, we had another general meeting on the 29th, and discussed Key Club dues, Fall Rally South, and division shirts— and encouraged as many people as possible to purchase them! In addition, we had a make-up meeting through Zoom on the 30th at 6PM for those who could not come to the in-person meeting from the previous day! This helps encourage participation for those with strict schedules. 7

Our city was looking for volunteers to help with a community clean up and paper shredding so we reached out to our members during this time of need. On October 2nd, our amazing Key Clubbers stepped up and took charge by offering their time and efforts. From 8am to 12 pm, our members were working hard and efficiently in order to assist our community as well as our environment. In addition to assisting in this clean up, we brought awareness to key clubbers and members in our community about how to maintain a more suitable environment. Although our members were working diligently, they also formed new bonds creating friendships. New memories were made while also working towards a better community.

We had our first in-person general meeting on September 15th and it was from 3:00 to 3:50pm. During our first meeting we not only introduced ourselves to our new members, but we introduced them to some of our Kiwanians and we introduced them to everything Key Club has to offer. We discussed what our club did over the summer months and we showed them the upcoming events and opportunities that were available.

Even though we had a couple of technical issues this meeting was very successful and we were all excited to see how many members came to the meeting. A special thanks to the Kiwanians for coming to our first meeting and special thanks to our wonderful advisor Mrs. Ulrey for helping us through it all.
