Happy summer Belugas! I hope you're having a great summer by spending more time with your family and friends! In the month of July, I hope we can all bond together and create more memories as Division 15 West. Just three months into the term, our beluga family has raised more than 200 dollars for the preferred charities! I am so proud of our progress so far and I am very excited to see what we will achieve in the future. As you complete each service project and participate in fundraisers, I hope you reflect on the difference you are making in your community. Thank you for your continued support and resilience while we are online! Swimming into Service,

Ashley Ma Lieutenant Governor 2021-2022

Hi Everyone! Can you believe we’re already in the middle of summer? This past school year has gone by too fast. As you’re probably enjoying your summer, honing your hobbies and talents, building your resume, or making the most of your summer, hopefully Key Club can still be here to offer you opportunities for service and interacting with new friends. In this newsletter issue, we look back on the many events that Key Club has done and will continue to have throughout the summer! Have a great summer (and don’t forget to drink water :))! With Gratitude,

Katelynn Situ News Editor 2021-2022

Ria Parikh | Chino Hills High School The Rose River DCM was a wonderful way to kick off the new year! I was so excited to see everyone again, and Ashley did a wonderful job planning. After the DCM, making roses was a great way to remember all the lives lost in COVID. As someone who knows a lot of people who didn’t make it through this pandemic, it was especially important to me to make these roses as best I could and dedicate them to the family members I lost. I loved being able to help our community with this service project and have fun while doing it! I cannot wait for more DCMs, in the future, and hopefully some of them will be in person too.

DLT BONDING/ DING TEA FUNDRAISER

Annie Ly | Montclair High School Although

it was just a quick excursion, my time at the Ding Tea Fundraiser was nothing short of eventful! I got to meet most of the DLT, excluding Giselle, Chloe, and Antonio (you guys were there in spirit), and the time we spent together was very chaotic but fun! It felt so nostalgic to see so many people again and it really reminded me of how much fun in-person activities were! Events like these really make me look forward to the exciting events this term has in store for us :)

Nicole Causing | Montclair High School The Montclair and Colony movie night was very fun! We began by playing a game called Gartic Phone which is arguably one of the most entertaining games I’ve ever played. There was a very warm and friendly atmosphere in the zoom. Though there were a few technical difficulties, our officers powered through. We didn’t quite get to watch Ponyo, but Kiki’s Delivery Service was equally sweet and entertaining, I wouldn’t change it for anything :D

Maggie Hsieh | Ayala High School One of the events I participated in this month is the Kindness Rock Painting event! For this service event, members painted rocks with kind messages on them and placed them around their community to brighten up people’s day! I collected some rocks from my neighborhood and parks to paint colorful pictures on them! Other members may have written inspiration quotes or even just painted the rock a fun color. We drove around the city and arranged them around the local parks or really anywhere that needed extra love! This event, in particular, has been one of my favorites so far since painting the rocks was a very enjoyable activity to do with my friends and family. People outside of the club have even come up to me saying how much they appreciated the painted rocks! I hope that even more key club members can participate in this event together again soon!

The Tappy tree event that I participated in was an event that’s more simple compared to other events. It basically requires you to take your time and tap your screen. I would just do the tapping when I walk to school and when I go back. One lesson that I actually learned from the event is that you should always utilize every minute you have, and things that are meaningful could be done.

With summer in session, it is important to remember to take care of our environment. CNH has put together a helpful guide that can help clubs, or individual members, find inspiration for service projects and fundraisers pertaining to this month's spotlight on service: “BEE CLEAN, CNH.” Events can be as simple as picking up litter with your group at a local park and beach and having educational workshops to educate people on our impact on the environment. Fundraiser ideas range from collecting recyclables and collecting coins that are to be donated. More detailed information can be found at www.cnhkeyclub.org! or click here
