A New Year of Service!
April 2014 Volume 1 | Issue 1
Hello Division 22 Hikina!! I welcome you all this new Key Club year, and I congratulate you all for this past year of service. This year, we're celebrating the 100th anniversary of our Kiwanis family! The Cali-Nev-Ha district has set forth this year’s theme as “Celebration.” We are celebrating not only a successful year, but also a year of service, leadership, and family. Please thank your advisors and Kiwanis for their love and support that they continue to give us. A year has passed since our first realignment and a new year has started for new goals. This year, I have made my division platform “responsibility.” As a division, we have worked and completed many service projects that have benefitted our community greatly. For this new year, let's make it our duty to impact the lives of others through our community service. Our division projects will be to help individuals with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or personal needs. By helping those in need, we are striving to let them know they are a part of our ‘Ohana.
Also, a huge thank you to all who had applied for the 2014-15 Division Team positions. Congratulations to your new Division

Featured Project
On April 5th, our Kiwanis division gathered together for the annual Kiwanis One Day Project. This year, we did a campus beautification at Kalani High School, where a new

Key Club was about to be formed. This event helped us bond together, not just as Division 22 Hikina, but also as a family with all our different clubs. Personally, I’ve bonded with the HPU and UH Manoa Circle K’s. We were fortunate to meet them during the project and learned more about college life, Circle K, and especially themselves. This campus beautification helped us unite in friendship and extend our organization to the Kalani High School Key Club. BY: Lily Ka
Key Clubbers raising funds for The Early School Oh March 1st, Punahou KEY Club volunteered at The Early School's annual fundraiser event. The Early School is a private, non-profit, independent preschool that provides an early childhood education. The proceeds from this event helped to continue The Early School's dedication to providing excellent learning experiences for Hawaii's children, their families, and the community. Punahou KEY Club members monitored bounce houses, and manned the arts and crafts booth, the multiple games booths, and the food booths. It was wonderful to see the alumni of The Early School have fun and spend time with their family and friends. BY: Angeline Zhou
On April 13th, 2014, Kaiser Key Club participated in the Easter Egg Hunt at the Aloha Stadium held by the Salvation Army. Nine members from our club worked from 8 am to 1:30 pm along with a few members from Roosevelt Key Club and National Honor Society from Campbell High School. At the Easter Egg Hunt, we helped set up and operate several stations including the bouncy house, train ride, and picture taking with the Easter bunny. Our members had some struggles operating the bouncy house in the rain but we were able to keep the children safe and satisfied. We worked cooperatively and interacted well with over 300 children ages 3-12 and their parents. I really liked the festive atmosphere at the event with all the pretty Easter themed decorations. Overall, I found this event really successful and fun to see the kids happy and in a good mood despite the rainy weather. BY: Jenna Hashimoto

DCON Reflections
What is DCON??? District Treasurer Darin Ngo
First think of Hawaii Convention - Now think of a convention 5x as big as that, with 5x more people in attendance. District Convention gatherers Key Clubbers within the Cali-Nev-Ha district together for a 3 day convention that includes workshops, activities, governor's ball dance, district candidate elections, expos, and much more! This year's 68th annual Cali-Nev-Ha was held in Sacramento from April 1113, 2014. Let's meet our 2014-15 District Officers!
District Governor Jacqueline Tsang
District Secretary Cecilia Li
Serving on the District Convention Committee this year, convention was a much different experience from years past. It was great to see all of the work come together just as it did for Hawai’i Convention. My favorite part of DCON was between the keynote speaker presentation and the awards ceremony. It was so great to see so many of the clubs in Division 22 Hikina get recognized. Surrounded by lots of spirit, love, and commitment, it was a wonderful weekend. BY: Kathryn Teruya
This was my first year attending DCON, and I can honestly say that it was amazing and unforgettable! I met so many new friends throughout CNH, and every one of them made me feel welcomed. The spirit people showed, the free hugs and selfies going around, and the continuous spirit battles really built an optimistic aura. Along with the fun, the workshops and the keynote speaker really broadened my knowledge about Key Club: passion to serve and leadership involved. This weekend has left me with post depression (shua), and I look forward to going again next year with many more members from Hawaii! (CNH loves us Hawaii members!). BY: Johnny Boy Zhu

Hopes for Next Year
AYO Manō, What do you want to see? This year I think that tying more clubs together and having more group projects, like how we have the KFD is a great way to become a stronger Key Club community. Also, better communication skills within the division. Jenna Hashimoto, Kaiser Key Club
I’m looking forward to interclub activities, like intermolecular forces. I’m also looking forward to bonding with my officers and members. Angeline Zhou, Punahou Key Club
This year, I’m looking forward to meeting a bunch of new people and establishing relationships with members. Marleen Tana, Roosevelt Key Club As my 2nd year in Key Club, I look forward to meeting new and returning Key club members, as well as more opportunities for service with our Kiwanis and other clubs. I’m also looking forward to another exciting HCON Lisabel Asuncion, Farrington Key Club
