MESSAGE FROM LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR MESSAGE FROM LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR

HELLO HUSKEYS Congratulations, you have all survived your first few weeks of school! Whether you’re a freshman, a sophomore, a junior, or a senior; you are surviving high school and with Key Club! I hope you are all enjoying the most active part of the Key Club year, with new members, events, and more. So far, mostly all the clubs are surpassing the amount of members attending their meetings than the year before. This is great because it shows growth for the club, the division, the district, and international. Fall Rally is approaching very quickly! Please remember to pay your dues, send in your Fall Rally ticket money, get field trip paper work approved, have all Key Club related paper work signed, memorize your cheers, and be prepared to be the most spirited you will ever be! REMEMBER TO PAY YOUR DUES AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE NOVEMBER 1ST TO THE KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL OFFICE. This is very crucial to keep a club considered as a Key Club, to be recognized for membership differences, and to be considered official Key Club members along with so much more. Clubs are growing, clubs are improving; our division collectively as a whole from the year before has remarkably changed and I am looking forward to the rest of the term with you all. Thank you for everyone’s service, leadership, and family to this division, all of your hard work is appreciated. Serving Through The Winter Storms, Julieann Bui

DUES | KEY CLUB MEMBERSHIP What are dues? Dues is the collective cost of membership. Turning in dues makes members official Key Club International members.

How much are dues? Dues for the California-Nevada-Hawaii District are $11.50. Clubs may increase this price to no more than $23 to cover additional costs, budget, etc.

Why do I have to turn in dues? Not turning in dues sets a limit to how much you are able to do in Key Club. There are certain events/procedures that require dues: Fall Rally, District Convention, International Convention, etc. or voting in elections, serving as an officer, etc. As well as the title of an Official Key Club International Member.

DUES | KEY CLUB MEMBERSHIP IMPORTANT DATES TO MEET OCTOBER 1ST, 2014 Begin sending your dues in! NOVEMBER 1ST, 2014 If dues are sent in before/by this date, your dues will be considered early bird! (Also a International Award) HIGHLY SUGGESTED Avoid confusion, chaos, and also prepare for Fall Rally and District convention. DECEMBER 1ST, 2014 On-Time dues! Key Club International needs your club dues by this date. Any later will cause many issues and also consider the club as delinquent. FEBRUARY 1ST, 2014 Dues need to be submitted to be included in Recognition Programs. MISS TURNING IN DUES Clubs will become suspended. Missing another year will make clubs inactive. Missing another year after will make clubs unchartered. There is a reactivation/rechartering fee. This will also cause issues with the Membership Update Center.

Don’t even go there!

PEDIATRIC TRAUMA PROGRAM Pediatric Trauma: unintentional injury. It remains the leading cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the United States. More children die from unintentional injuries than all other childhood diseases combined.

What is it? Pediatric Trauma Program, also known as PTP, is a program developed by the Cal-Nev-Ha Kiwanis Foundation to develop projects that will reduce the number of children who are killed or injured by trauma.

What are our efforts doing? Providing grants to our partner hospitals, enabling them to create or expand community outreach programs, grants to Kiwanis and SLP clubs, enabling them to help more children in more communities, and you provide PTP safety items, which are available for purchase by our Kiwanis family at a subsidized cost.

CLUB COMMITMENT: EACH CLUB HAS BEEN ASKED TO MAKE A $100 PTP DONATION

This month long fundraiser for UNICEF is to fund for Project Eliminate. All money donated will go towards a cumulative fund that makes huge impacts on lives in countries are unable to afford what we have. 25 cents—10 kids clean water to drink for a day $1 — protein biscuits for a starving child $17 — keeps kid safe from 6 killer diseases. $24 — supplies emergency first aid kit. For October month long service, order your Trick or Treat for UNICEF boxes from trickortreatforunicef.org Clubs will be distributed for members to collect change all month long. This change will be turned back into the club. The club will turn in the total amount back to UNICEF the first week of November. $257 — school-in-a-box, learning everywhere $500 — water pump for a village or school.
