Letter from the LTG

Aloha, Huskeys! We’ve made it to the beginning of the school year! For a lot of us, this means a lot of homework (I feel your pain). But the beginning of the school year also marks the beginning of the recruitment period! Key Club is an amazing club to join, but a lot of students don’t know that. It is up to us to recruit new members and have more people join our ohana. I urge you to continue serving your homes, schools, and communities. Service is the focus of the organization, and we wouldn’t have this club if it wasn’t for the hard work you do every month. Keep making me proud!

Onwards and Upwards,

Hello Huskeys! It’s September already! I hope school is going great for everyone. Our division events have been so much fun and I can’t wait to meet even more of you! Membership fees are going to be due soon, so make sure you pay. Ask your president for the remind to stay up to date with all the events! I can’t wait to meet you all at the next division event! Best wishes, Kaitlyn

Huntington Beach Clean Up

By: Andrea oviedo On a very nice day to the beach, we went along the beach coast and broke up into groups to pick up trash that could have otherwise polluted the ocean. After all our hard work, we had some fun and played a water balloon toss game. “The beach was awesome. It’s not every day that you get to go to the beach with your friends.” (Tristin Alvarez).

Fontana Art Festival

By: Ebin Delgado

This event is one of the more memorable ones in key club. For this event we went to Fontana park to help out in booths involving painting and making clay pots with children along with assisting at the kid zone with games. The staff members were nice and we gotten a chance to bond with them. We also helped at a home depot booth where children are making wooden boats. This event resulted in at least 16 members helping out. Overall the members had everything covered and managed to get through any problems thrown at us. This was the most memorable event for us key club members and we hopefully have another event with the same result.

Park Clean Up On a bright and early Saturday morning, our members went to work by clearing the trail and picking up trash. “I honestly thought I would die from a heat stroke, but getting those ‘Thank you’s’ from people within our community pushed me through to keep working. It is true that ‘Everybody can cook’ but it turns out I was the one that was being cooked that day.” (Tristin Alvarez). We kept going until it was time to eat pizza and every member received a certificate of appreciation. We had an awesome day serving our city and we couldn’t have done it without our community

-Andrea Oviedo

10 PAST

For this community service event we went to the Pacific Rail and helped clean the trail. We did tasks such as digging up piles of mulch, sweeping the trail, and spreading mulch. Similar to many of our events our key club members managed to bond with each other along with other people at the park clean up. It took a huge amount of hard work to finish and it was made extra harder thanks the hot summer heat. Overall we managed to pull through and finish our jobs. Hopefully we will pull through our next park clean-up. -Ebin

Spotlight on Service

Every month, the CNH District offers an opportunity for every club to be recognized for their participation in community service and the SOSP Monthly Focus. Each month, there is a designated theme that clubs are encouraged to direct service towards. Not only can your club’s service project have the chance to be mentioned in the District Newsletter, it will always be featured here. For more information, feel free to contact me or LTG Daniel Sanchez.
