“Que Sera Sera”… Whatever will be, will be. Or will it? Some resign themselves to a life of depending on fate. Others follow the thinking of Edmund Burke who said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” During the Revolutionary War in 1776, the American forces were so outnumbered that they were forced to retreat from New York. That retreat did not end until the crossing of the Delaware River at Trenton. With severely reduced forces that were scantily clothed and poorly armed, the American troops were horribly depressed. Washington did not give up hope, and Henry Knox followed his lead – there would be no reason for despondency. It was on Christmas night that Washington made the decision to cross the Delaware, directed by Knox, to surprise the Hessian forces at Trenton, capturing 1,000 men as well as supplies. This event gave a much needed boost to the American morale and, most
believe, changed the course of the war. Life may have a strangle hold on you, but don‟t give in to a spirit of defeat. Don‟t quit! Pray, watch and wait expectantly for the Lord, and get some “fight” back in you. When Nehemiah was carrying out God‟s call to rebuild the walls and gates of Jerusalem, enemies plotted to thwart the work. In the face of discouragement, Nehemiah energized the people with, “Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.” Nehemiah 4:14 (NASV) And get this… 52 days later the wall was complete. The Lord, who is great and awesome, is also on your side. Fighting with you for your home, your family, your life. The great Apostle Paul says it this way, “Those things, which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, DO!” Philipians 4:9 (KJV) And then, peace will flow from the God of peace into your heart and life.

Last month we were inundated with the details of a royal wedding. Honestly I was told more than I wanted to know about most things and nothing about what might have interested me about the couple‟s relationship with each other and with God. Instead, we were told that they had lived together for the past two years to get to know each other. Everybody in the world does it now, so that must make it “right”. Not. It would have been refreshing to hear that for the last two years they have been working on their relationship with God. Oh I know it sounds „old school‟. I certainly wish them every happiness and long lives…together. I will also pray that they might become witnesses for Christ. That they will be able to boast about a joy that surpasses all understanding. I‟m quite sure that living in the palace and being bowed to and waited on hand and foot won‟t give them that joy. It might give them happiness, until the novelty of that wears off and it needs to be replaced by something else that will eventually wear out and so on and so on. There‟s only one thing that won‟t wear out decay or be destroyed…and that‟s the incorruptible Word of God. Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Those of us that claim to be children of God can also boast of royal connections. We won‟t move into a palace while here on this earth, but we‟ve been promised that a mansion is being prepared for us. It will be ours if we don‟t give in to everything that the world says is “right”. Our heritage goes back thousands of years and as a matter of fact it goes back to the beginning of time You see the King we serve made all things that were made. John Chapter One, Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. We have nothing of value to offer Him and yet He is prepared to give us everything, yet we deserve none of it. Thank you my King! Isaiah 62:3 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
