development Concept The design of the exhibit space is a tribute to architect Peter Eisenman. The exhibit is bold, fragmented, and sculptural. It is a combination of his lifetime accomplishments, conceptual inspiration, design process and sketches. The space will represent the true essence of Peter Eisenman’s experience and will act as a vital source of inspiration to the community.

“When you can sense the incompleteness of a finished structure, it is a paradoxical experience. If the parts that make up the whole are in conflict, the sensation of the incomplete contests the fact that the structure is, in fact, a finished and fully enclosed space - Peter Eisenman

Inspired by Peter Eisenman, an American architect, known for his radical designs and architectural theories. He is often characterized as a deconstructive, late avant-garde, formalist, high modernist, and a post structuralist thinker. His early designs of house projects contain constructive uses of shapes such as cubes. Whilst later on in his career he makes more use of curves and fluid designs.

Inspiration & d The Floor layout is inspired by the fragmented objects of the cubistic art of Pablo Picasso. Picasso’s “Woman with Mandolin” informed the space planning process. Defined lines and objects from the artwork transform into different zones of the space.
Advanced Studio WI13
development Concept Pablo Picasso of Malaga, Spain has influenced most of the art of the twentieth century. His works from 1910s have given rise to an innovative period of art and design called cubism. The main idea behind the restaurant design derives from the Cubistic art that is
fragmentation and rearrangement of the natural the
forms into abstract, expressing the fact that geometrical shapes are more expressive and exciting than classical decoration. The transition of view from classical to abstract was contributed by Picasso’s “Blue Period” of art, and this is expressed in the atmosphere of the restaurant “Azul” Azul Restaurant Hospitality Design

Inspiration & d Concept Pablo Picasso of Malaga, Spain has influenced much of the art of the twentieth century. His works from 1910s have given rise to an innovative period of art and design called cubism. The hotel design is based on fragmentation and rearrangements of the natural forms into abstract, expressing the fact that geometrical shapes are more expressive and exciting than classical decoration. Keeping in mind the existence of ancient ruins in Malaga, the concept of cubism is expressed as an interaction and inter-effect of old and new, by viewing them in different angles of modern, abstract and sculptural forms.

Description
Inspiration & d Concept Mid-Century Modern design fused with Japanese elements enhances the concept of “Kanketsu throughout the space. The Japanese term, Kanketsu, means simplicity. Simple lines of shoji screens, with an addition of neutral hues and earthy tones blends well to bring a sense of calmness, and harmony. Natural materials like bamboo, wood, stone, and rice paper not only bring freshness to the interior space, but also balances the movement of natural light from the inside out.

Marcus Space Plan The bottom level is a garden level, where a stairway and indoor Japanese garden are in the center of the space. A lounge is on the north side of the stairway and a traditional Japanese tea room follows the Zen garden on the south side. Level one is a formal open space plan incorporating a living, dining and kitchen area. They are separated by Shoji screens and sliding panels. Level two is a personal space area having a master suite, with dresser and bath. The top floor incorporates a personal study lounge on the north side and a guest bedroom with bath on south side of the space. The addition of skylight brings brightness and freshness to the space.

This project is to design a studio apartment for a couple located in the Rosenwald homes, in the Bronzeville neighborhood, Chicago. It occupies 400 Sq.ft of space.
D EAMS TO EALITY
Description
Inspiration & d Design Inspiration The overall design is inspired by Bronzeville’s architectural details like glass block windows and fire escapes. There is no massive form; every piece seems to float, light and airy, transparent, letting our eyes glide through the whole space.
Design Development
ID Communication WI13
development Concept The inspiration for the design of the space comes from Gwendolyn Brooks’s poem “Kitchenette Building”. In her poem she introduces us to the idea of the dream that we all as humans are craving. She uses the poetic technique known as realism, and expresses our dreams through her words. Our design is focused on changes and how our dreams morph into reality.

Coffee Table
This project required the conceptualization and assembly of a functional three dimensional surface or storage unit. The material for the piece was limited to elements cut from a single 3/4 thick, 8 foot by 4 foot sheet of Birch plywood. The elements could be secured together with joinery or lamination. The Woods coffee table is part of a series of furniture pieces based on the concept of shadow. The form of the piece is inspired from this fragmented shadow.

Finishing Process After the CNC Cutting process, the pieces are sanded up to 220 grit sand paper to create smoothness. Then to deepen the color and to bring out the grains of the veneer, oil based staining is done. Three coats of Walnut polyurethane are applied on all the sides of the pieces prior to the assembly. After all the pieces are completely dried, they are secured and glued together.
Interior Objects and Furniture SP13
Cut Sheet Woods coffee table is comprised of 23 pieces on the top surface, which are held together with thirty pieces of base support. Once the glue is dried out completely the finish coat of paste wax is applied to add sheen to the piece.
