FIFA/CAF security seminar will help reduce risks at African facilities

Amir Hassan received a certificate of attendance at the end of FIFA/CAF security seminar in Cairo on 14th of May 2015.

Amir Abdi Hassan, who represented Somalia in the 2015 FIFA/CAF seminar for National security officers, said that the organization of the security event will play an important role in the reduction of risks at football facilities across Africa.

The security seminar was held in Cairo, Egypt from 12-14 May 2015 and Amir Hassan said that seminar was meant a lot to the football federations in the continent which witnessed disasters and insecurityrelated incidents at football facilities many times in the past. “We benefitted so many things from this seminar regarding security and safety specially how to make security and safety plans at stadiums during local and international competitions such as safety precautions before, during and after matches and as well as evacuations and risk assessment” Mr. Amir Hassan told SFF magazine.

“We have also learned FIFA integrity initiatives such as fighting against match fixing and related crimes” he added. Senior Security Manager of FIFA, Serge Dumortier, who addressed at the seminar, said that FIFA was giving much priority to security and safety at stadiums adding that security ranks amongst the most important areas of football promotion.

“Security is crucial and that is why FIFA established the division for safety and integrity” Serge Dumortier explained while addressing at the FIFA/CAF security seminar in Cairo.
