GERMANY DID YOU KNOW? The legal drinking age for beer and wine in Germany is 16, but children usually have their first drink of alcohol around the age of 13 or 14. It is illegal to sell to a 16 year old, but possession and consumption of the alcoholic beverage are not frowned upon.
The Traditional German Meal When confronted, most people would say that they think the traditional German meal consists of Bratwurst, Saurkraut and beer. Those people would be incorrect. A lot of traditional German meals include some sort of meat, a lot of bread, and a few different types of soup. The meal can also be accompanied by something called knödel, potato dumplings, or spätzle, tiny dumplings. The biggest and heaviest meal of the day is lunch. Meals in Germany are usually very heavy and take a while to get used to if you are one that enjoys light cuisine.
Germany is a beautiful country with an even more beautiful climate that almost never goes above 90 °F. The country is very mountainous due to the Alps mountain region. The towns tend to be very small, which is great because everything you need is within walking distance. A lot of Germans walk to stores and entertainment destinations, but they still have cars. Gas prices in Germany are ridiculous, running at about $8.35/gallon. Cars are usually very efficient on gas and are mostly likely a hybrid. If you were to go around small towns and cities you would see quite a few castles. These structures have long been one of the main attractions for tourists. There are 16 “states” in Germany, each having at least half a million people residing in them. Germany is a nice country to visit if you’re traveling to Europe any time soon!
