EDITORIAL One attains Akram Gnan (Self-realization of the step-less path of liberation) with the grace of the Gnani Purush. However, one's prior karma accounts remain to be settled. That is why it is extremely important to remain in touch with a Ganni Purush to understand what one has really attained in this direct path which is scientific. In this path, the wrong belief 'I am Chandulal', leaves and is replaced with the right belief 'I am Shuddhatma (pure Self)'. This state of Shuddhatma-the Self is the state of total fearlessness. After attaining this Gnan-the knowledge of the Self, mahatmas need to know how to remain the Self with the five Agnas (Dadashri's five cardinal sentences that sustain the liberated state in Akram Vignan) in all worldly the situations which may provoke fear. By applying the Agnas, one becomes aware of the source and cause of fear, where and how it arises, to whom it is happening, and how one can remain unaffected and separate from the one who is experiencing fear. Thus one remains fearless. One-the newly initiated recipient of Gnan-should not be affected by fear of any kind, because it is happening to 'Chandubhai' (the relative self, the reader should substitute his own name here). Why should there be any fear to the Self-Atma? The Self can never be robbed or hurt. Where can there be any fear to the One, whom no force in the universe can touch or hurt? The fear of getting robbed happens to Chandubhai, the one who has the pocket that carries the money. Are You the owner of the pocket? When one applies the understanding from the real perspective, 'I am pure Soul' one remains fearless. As long as the belief 'I am Chandubhai' remains, fear also remains. With, 'I am Shuddhatma' fear vanishes. Whatever fear arises in Chandubhai is vyavasthit-scientific circumstantial evidence and that is precise and just. When you feel fear and the right vision-awakened awareness, 'I am Shuddhatma'-does not prevail, Dada-the Gnani Purush is with you, is He not? Even with this understanding, know that nothing can happen to You. There is no power in this universe that can hurt You. The one who is going to be hurt and affected, is not You, and if it happens, so be it. You remain unaffected. The effect that happens is to the relative self-Chandubhai, and You the Self are indeed separate and unaffected. With this understanding and applied awareness there remains no effect or suffering. fear, it is irrational fear. One has filled the stock of fear in the relative self (from past life). The irrational fear happens as a reflex reaction-sangi chetna. You-Shuddhatma-pure Soul in Akram Path-would not have any fear. You would be aware of the false nature of this fear. If a policeman comes he will arrest Chandubhai, he does not know Shuddhatma, how can he arrest You-Shuddhatma? Even if they hang you, it is the pudgal (integrating and disintegrating of the non-Self matter) that is being strangulated. The one who gets strangled is a pudgal, and an executioner too is pudgal-non-Self complex. Atma (the Self) has never been strangulated, that is who You are. Thus in every way worldly life affects 'Chandubhai', and the Self is so exquisitely separate that it remains absolutely unaffected-nirleyp and separate-asang by anything that happens to Chandubhai-the non-Self complex with a worldly name. With this awakened awareness-Gnan fear vanishes. Thus in Akram Gnan, Gnani Purush Dadashri explains many different kinds of divine keys. These are being compiled in this Dadavani, and the applied understanding of these keys will make the reader remain fearless in worldly life. - Deepak Desai

All kinds of fear leaves after meeting a Gnani Questioner : Dada, how can one dissolve the tuber—the inner state—of fear? Dadashri : All fears leave after Selfrealization. Questioner : Fear may still remain in the imagination, no? Dadashri : No. The fears, which used to terrify you, are gone after Gnan—Selfrealization. Questioner : But how can one become so absolutely fearless? Dadashri : Fearless? For that one has to live with a Gnani Purush at least two to four months. Once a person lives in the vicinity and nearness of the Gnani Purush all fear leaves. 2

Fear is not a thing it is only a misunderstanding. By staying with a Gnani one can find out one’s own mistakes whereas when one stays away from the Gnani, one will get trapped in puzzles. Questioner : Whatever this filled stock is (charged karma from past life), when this comes out….. Dadashri : Nothing new is being filled— no new karma is being charged so all will come to an end. Our path is such that everything will continue to leave. One by one it will continue to leave. I have given this absolute state of fearlessness. This path is beautiful and it is an independent and free path. I have given you this vyavasthit—the knowledge of the force that runs this universe—to be rid of so many fears. How many fears have been removed! November 2006

There is no reason to harbor any fear. Questioner : You gave vyavasthit to get rid of so many fears, but vyavasthit is given to remove all the fears, isn’t it? Dadashri : Yes. The fears begin to leave as much one begins to understand (darshan— vision of awakened awareness) vyavasthit and when this understanding becomes complete one becomes fully enlightened—keval Gnani. Questioner : Yes. That means if one understands vyavasthit completely, all kinds of fear would leave, no? Dadashri : All kinds of fear must leave. One should know vyavasthit as it is, then all the fears would leave. You have discovered this much at least. Now you will start to know more by sitting next to me. You can find out much more if you get the opportunity to stay with me for fifteen days. It is possible to stay fifteen days with me if you are willing. You can get the opportunity to sit together, eat together, drink together, sleep together and talk with me in one home. A Gnani would be fearless One will accomplish his work when the final fear leaves. People cannot get rid of fear. There is no way by which fear will leave. Always stressed, fear will also stay persistently. Say for instance, if you need to go somewhere, and someone says, ‘there is a possibility that a robber will mug you on the way.’ Now, there is no choice because you have to take that road. So then how will you feel inside? You will feel stressed once you hear about this. Where in the world did this stress come from? This is our world, we are the owners and why do we have to struggle and feel so stressed? The reason is that one November 2006

wants to control the world and territory of others. Otherwise would there be any stress or conflict? Many thieves and robbers may come on the way; that is their business. Why do you need to worry? Is it not their business? It is a business and if you are good customer then he will give you his product (rob you); otherwise he may not give you the product. He will say, ‘what the heck, why should I give this guy anything? It’s a waste.’ One should not harbor any kind of fear. You have not achieved anything as long as fear exists. Now, after Self-realization if any fear does arise then you should apply this knowledge and the fear will disappear. Where is the fear to the Self—pure Soul? The Self is not a thing that one can steal or rob. No one can shoot the Self. No one can do anything to the Self. How can there be any fear to the Self? Then the awareness arises which says, ‘Chandubhai—the owner of the pocketful of money has the fear of being robbed.’ And you have become the owner, is that not so? And you think that if you worry or keep tension then he (pickpocket) will not rob you, is that right? Mooah (special exclamation used by Dadashri to shake up the listener, literal meaning-mortal one), he will rob you first by seeing tension on your head. He will beat you up as an extra item too. Fear leaves once the ignorance leaves One may not get scared by four outlaws, but when he trembles upon hearing the angry noises of a gang of fifteen to twenty robbers then it is all over, and done, no? The one who did not get scared by four will subsequently not be scared by forty and the one who does not get scared by forty then he will not be affected by four thousand, and the one who does not get scared by four thousand will not 3

be scared by four lakhs—hundred thousand and finally this one will not have any fear from forty million and this then will come to an end. There are no more then four billion people. The one, who did not get scared by anybody, will attain total fearlessness. The one who is fearless, to him mooah! What is the account of four? What is the value of such four lakhs or even four billion? That is the only thing that Dada is trying to say, ‘brother, all the fear would leave as soon as the fear arising from ignorance is gone.’ The fear arises from ignorance. There is no other fear at all. Why do you need to afraid of people? These poor fellows are tops only, they are spinning on their own. Some might get hurt too, at some time. But it is not under their control. The fear exists until the belief ‘I am Chandubhai’ exists. ‘I am Shuddhatma (pure Soul)’ then you are fearless. You (the Self) are Shuddhatma and the remaining part (Chandubhai) is a neighbor. So when someone comes to fight with the neighbor it is justice.

Dadashri : Circumstances of fear are definitely all around and that is the nature of the relative worldly life (sansar). It is in the nature of worldly life to shake-upset a human being here and there. Let the mover (the nonSelf) move. You must remain in your place. It is possible to maintain such steadiness, is it not ? Questioner : Yes. Dadashri : You do not feel fear of any kind, do you? All these people here are free from fear, and is that not a wonder? They are fearless because they have become still and steady. Questioner : We should employ some policemen to periodically come and test these mahatmas. Dadashri : Some of our mahatmas have been tested. They are ready now. They will not be afraid of any thing. They have been made ready by having faced constant challenges that push and thrust.

No one can shake a strong one If we remain still and unmoved then there is no power that can hurt us in this world. Once You move a little, then all other powers will eat you up. You do not need to move an iota. If you feel fear within then say that, ‘Dada is my protector, nothing is going to happen to me’ and remain that way. If You (the Self) remain unmoved, then no force in this universe can touch you. What does the power—shakti observe? Did he move or not? It looks for the trace movement of the weakness only. There is no need to move an iota. If You move then Chandulal is done for. If You remain unmoved then what can happen? Questioner : Then nothing will happen. 4

Questioner : You kept them testing, no? Dadashri : Yes. So I am convinced that these people are ready. Whatever you do, they have become prepared like a person who is ready to face death. What if someone comes to arrest you with handcuffs and inquires, ‘Is Chandubhai there?’ Questioner : Then I will say, ‘take me’. Dadashri : Is that right? You will not wonder what the world will think about you, no? I had told the police sub-inspector, ‘no problem, you should have brought a rope with you. Otherwise people would say that November 2006

Ambalalbhai is such a person, so these poor people can be happy, no!’ So then police subinspector got scared. So be ready for all kind of situations. Any circumstance can arise. It is vyavasthit, isn’t it? Nothing is beyond vyavasthit, no? Now one must settle with equanimity, no? So what can we say to him (to a police sub-inspector) as he shows up with a warrant? Has he come to arrest on his own? No, he is also following someone’s order. Questioner : It is not in his hand also. Dadashri : He is also following the order and it is not even under the control of the boss who has given the order. Everything is happening on the basis of our karma. Questioner : In this situation, there should not be any effect on single parmanoo (subatomic particle) within. Dadashri : Not even single parmanoo should react. That should be only the thing. The circumstances may be that the entire world would become wet with the sweat of fright in the absence of summer heat. One will get sweat in the day of winter! I am making them strong. They all had stayed with me. I would strike them from this way to this way. Why harbor any fear at all? Become fearless All this is relative. To feel the effect of that which is relative is a sign of terrible weakness. Nothing that happens around you should touch You. When can one say that a person is vitarag (absolutely free from attachment and abhorrence)? When one does not feel fear of any thing in this world one can say one is indeed a vitarag. What is the essence of being a vitarag? Fearlessness! November 2006

This world is so regular and orderly that no one can do anything, so don’t be afraid. And if the fear effect is to happen, there is nothing you can do to avoid it. I have seen that the world is faultless, no one is at fault. I had seen that. Not a single living being is at fault in this world and it will always remain in my vision. Whatever the fault is, it is the effect of only my karma. There is not a single living being that destroy your planned design. All these designs are only yours. There is no interference of anyone. The path may be filled with very rough robbers, and yet you will be able to go through it wearing jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of rupees without being robbed. This is how the world is. There is no reason to harbor any fear whatsoever. Make your life such that no one would feel fear Where one has become such that no one would be afraid of him then he does not need to be afraid of anything in this world. No one should be afraid of you. Whereas even a sparrow will fly away before you reach there. Hey mooah, what kind of a person are you that even a sparrow would fly away? Next thing is one’s jitteriness and inner unsteadiness (chanchalta)- well instability is a different thing. But even a sparrow should trust you a bit or even an animal should trust, should not they? At this time if hundred thousand snakes appear then will see what a poisonous human being this one is, by looking at the eyes of a person? The snake knows for sure that the snake itself is poisonous, but if he (a person) is poisonous then it will say, ‘I will sting you.’ And if it does not notice anything then it will crawl away without doing anything. 5

Questioner : What can we say about a person who scares others? What kind of fruit (result) will he get? Dadashri : We do not need to be afraid of him. One should not think about scaring others. The life should be such that no one should feel fear from us. Make such a life here. What are you going to gain scaring someone for nothing? Reflex startle reactions is not fear Now we have achieved the state of Shuddhatma. Now where is the loss? There is not any loss remained. Questioner : I don’t see any loss. But little bit fear does remain. Dadashri : That is not fear. The one who has not attained this Gnan (knowledge of the Self) will feel fear. The entire world is caught in fear. After attaining this Gnan our mahatmas do not feel fear but would have reflex reactions to fear. Fear exists due to ignorance. Startle response reaction (bhadkaat) is the nature of the physical body. Questioner : What is the meaning of startle reaction? Dadashri : It is the nature of a physical body; it is like a toy that will move in response to a key that is wound. It is not its intrinsic property. Similarly this startle reaction has been woven in the physical body. That is why even if you do not want to do it happens. At this place if a sudden loud noise will make your eyes close even if you don’t want to, it is such startle reaction. After this Gnan startle reaction persists and if ignorance (agnan) exists then fear exists. Fear exists due to ignorance. The fear that the world feels is the fear 6

of ignorance. Once the fear of ignorance is gone, only the reflex startle reactions remain. At this time, if a sudden new kind of noise occurs even my body will move. Now someone might say, ‘Dada has really trembled.’ The fact is, ‘No, Dada is not such a person that he would care!’ But this startle reaction is called a sangi chetna - reflex reaction. It has resulted with the association of the charged life principle (chetan bhaav). The fear exists because of the ignorance of the Self, and startle reaction exists as a result of reflex reaction (sangi chetna). Startling- trembling is the property of reflex reaction (body associated reaction). Sangi chetna means aropit chetna (feeling of existence at false location). While doing vidhi or meditating, a sudden loud noise will automatically startle and shake the physical body that is called reflex reaction (sangi chetna). The knower of the defect is the Self Questioner : Dada, my biggest defect is that….. Dadashri : You do have defect, you do know that, don’t you? Then you are the Self. Where is Your (the Self) defect? The defect is of this pudgal (non-Self complex); it has been charged from the past life, what do You have to lose in this? Dada (the Lord within) is over your head and this non-Self is defective then Dada will let go of it, but why should you take it on your head? You had to take a responsibility as long as you were Chandulal. Now you are not Chandubhai then why do You need to take load of Chandubhai? The neighbor has to follow the rules. If he (Chandubhai) cries then do You have to start November 2006

crying? If You know that Chandubhai is like this, that is Gnan. Mooah, you are the Self and this is a pudgal (non-Self). If you get startled then it will take control over you. The entire world may get shaken up. If the body gets a fever or becomes paralyzed or is under the fire, You are unaffected. It is a loss to the pudgal, You will never incur a loss. The loss is in the foreign department, not in the home department. The business of these departments is entirely separate. Would the owner and the shop be separate or one? Questioner : Separate. Dadashri : When the shop is burning one thinks that he got burnt. Hey, is that you that are burning? The shop is burning. Let’s go and have a cup of tea. Nonetheless, one goes around crying as if he is burning. Questioner : When such circumstances arise, artadhyana (preoccupation with worries about one’s self) - raudradhyana (adverse meditation that hurts others) do occur for sure. After that I do pratikraman (true inner remorseful confession and a determination not to repeat the aggression) too. Dadashri : That is not artadhyanaraudradhyana. That artadhyana-raudradhyana is not happening to You. You are the Self. It happens to Chandulal (the non-Self). If it is too burdensome for Chandulal, then You should tell Chandubhai, ‘brother, take it easy.’ And when the file no. 1, Chandubhai is talking to another person, You should ‘know’ that too and he will also ‘know’, that what communication has transpired. You are the knower (gnata), perceiver (drashta) and in eternal bliss (parmanandi). The Self remains as the Self (swabhav). November 2006

If Chandulal exercises wisdom then observe his wisdom, ‘Oh ho ho! What wisdom!’ If he becomes angry and upset then see the madness and anger. If he has gone temporarily berserk, see his madness. What else is going to happen other then this? Had you ever become emotional in your childhood? Questioner : I had. It still happens. But it has decreased after taking this Gnan. Dadashri : Yes. But after taking Gnan You don’t have any responsibility over your head, do You? After all it is Chandubhai’s responsibility, isn’t it? So You are separate, Chandubhai is separate. Chandubhai becomes emotional; You are not becoming emotional, are You? Questioner : No. Sometimes the Self becomes one with the non-Self again, and sometime the Self and the non-Self remain separate. Dadashri : It is different thing that the Self and the non-Self become one. But the Self and the non-Self have been separated. A day will come when it will remain absolutely separate. At this time the other rooms have not been vacated properly, no? That is why right now You have to come together. The Self and the non-Self will remain separate as the rooms begin to become empty. This is because of the separation that has happened. Doer ship will invite ghosts of the nonSelf complex Fears arising in the non-Self (pudgal) are the ghosts of the non-Self. We do not need to afraid of them. These are called nonSelf complex ghosts. ‘You’ should tell ‘Chandubhai’, ‘be a kshatriya (member of warrior class), your behaving like a Vanik 7

(merchant) will not work. Let all the other miseries arrive. Let the legs hurt, let the head hurt. That is all pudgal, the non-Self and You are the Self and You are separate! These are all ghosts. If You show fear then they will possess You. If they scream within, ‘what if they hang you?’ then You should say, ‘Yes, it is correct.’ No one can hang the Self. Nothing can affect the Self. All this is the play of the pudgal only. The hanging place is pudgal and the executioner is also pudgal. The Self has never been hanged before. One feels fear and suffocation because it does not fit in the vision (drashti). When one attains the vision of the Gnani then all is done. One needs to stay in touch with the Gnani to accomplish this. The light of the Self is eternally uncovered and bright Questioner : The prakruti—the nonSelf complex of thoughts speech and actions, is such that some are very elated and some others are very depressed. Dadashri : All the prakrutis need to be ‘seen’ only. The headlight of a car gets tainted with the mud of the dirty creek, the stench of the water of the dirty creek, and yet nothing touches the light, which passes through the mud which covers it. We need not harbor any fear that the light (Self knowledge) will become tainted with mud, stench or water. If this light is like this, just imagine how brilliant and unaffected the light of the Self would be! The light of the Self is like this only. It illuminates everything. The knowledge of separation and the prior rehearsal This Gnan verily will liberate one. But 8

You should help him—the non-Self with keen awareness—jagruti, and then proceed with purushaarth—Self oriented inner endeavor. The real purushaarth begins after one becomes a Purush (the Self), and separate from the nonSelf, the prakruti. The prakruti used to make you dance as long as you were Chandulal. Purush and prakruti have become separate. Purushaarth arises after becoming Purush. Awareness lies in purushaarth. What else is included in purushaarth? One should make the resolution. With steadiness one needs to talk with the non-Self. Questioner : Does it mean that we should not insist upon what is wrong or what is right? Dadashri : There is nothing wrong or right. One must not insist on this at all. But what will happen if we are served what we have never ever tasted before, for instance, if someone blames you saying, ‘You stole something.’ So now you have never heard such an insult before, you are not used to it, and therefore what will happen? The non-Self will become emotional. That is why You should say to Chandubhai, ‘brother, you are a thief only. Don’t worry if someone blames you being a thief.’ We need to let him know such thing from the beginning. Yes, ‘If someone blames you then don’t worry. If someone slaps you then also don’t worry.’ We should let him know such things in advance. Otherwise instead of a slap if someone jabs you in a mild manner, you will be affected. Hence, a prior practice is beneficial. A prior rehearsal is helpful, would it not help? Otherwise, this Gnan is keeping so many people in uninterrupted bliss—samadhi. The Self and the non-Self Thus Chandubhai’s work is done by November 2006

vyavasthit shakti (scientific circumstantial evidence). You just need to keep watching what Chandubhai is doing and what he is not? You do not need to meddle with the mind, buddhi (intellect), chit (knowledge + vision) and ahamkar (ego). You need to keep watching what the intellect is doing. You need to keep ‘seeing’ the intellect and what it is doing, right or wrong without interfering. The only time to interfere is when Chandubhai gets in to lots of worldly difficulties and at such time you should say, ‘I am verily pure Soul, I am with you.’ then it will be all right. Relative life situations may arise, like when the leg or the hand is hurting, at that time you should say, ‘Let it happen, I am here, no? so you need not worry.’ Otherwise when the body is having difficulties, say, ‘not mine’, and it will remain separate. This is because a line of demarcation has been made, which separates the Self and the non-Self. Thus one needs to understand all this as a regular course of study. You will not forget whatever I am saying, will you? The stock that was filled in past life will get exhausted Questioner : Before I met Dada there was ice like nikaachit karma (unalterable- solid and strong). Now can this decrease by doing samayik (past faults or sins can be washed off by focusing awareness of the Self on a specific topic such as anger, greed and pride etc; inner process of dissolving the inner tubers of negative passions)? Dadashri : They will decrease. Questioner : But they will not be washed off completely, right? Dadashri : No, they will show up, scare you and then leave, they will scare you too. Or else the bag will empty by it self. Once the November 2006

container is empty and if you will try to look for them, you will not find them. Haven’t they (karma) started to decrease? They will go down, just like the filled tank which starts to drain. Can’t speak, ‘now there is no objection’! Some people have good external conduct but within there is much evil and bad. And our mahatmas (the one who has attained Self-realization) may have bad external conduct but how wise are they within! Questioner : That is a matter of principle but many times what happens with us is that it is Dada’s speech and guarantee, and we grab hold of it, insisting that the conduct is not important and it is more important to focus on the intent within. Dadashri : One holds on to this, that is it. You don’t need to hang on to that. You do need to understand if such thing happens then you should not harbor fear. But if you hold on to it, then weakness will remain. Questioner : We do hang on to it and sit down with that as our defense. Dadashri : No, you cannot hide under such protection. It is as if you would have made a firm decision not to fall off into a well, no? Say for instance there are hundred to two hundred wells up here and if you have to walk through the road back and forth, in that case you just do not fall in the dark, because it is your decision that whatever happens you do not want to fall in this well, then you will not fall. But if you try to protect the well and go in that direction, then you will fall. At least it should be your decision, no? Why I am telling you this? Not to save you but I am telling you to make you fearless. Your external conducts 9

are like this, are wrong, don’t worry. You do not need to keep protecting the meaning of the statement. You should just keep in your mind that this error in the external visible conduct must not happen, that’s it. Then it is done. Then we let go of it. What we call vyavasthit is that, ‘brother, drive your car with your eyes open, and drive carefully and after that if a wreck happens then it is vyavasthit.’ If you are at fault, there is no problem. That is vyavasthit, but this much care should be exercised. Questioner : Dada, you are saying just to make me fearless but along with this my present behavior is unfolding in such a manner that I am filled with remorse that what kind of stock I have filled in my past life? Dadashri : The remorse of why one filled such a stock in the past life should arise. This type of weariness arises in all as they endure the suffering in this life. Alas, what can one do? There is not any other solution at all, is there? That is why you should not say, after this Gnan that nothing is going to happen to me, from here on. Such a statement is irresponsible, even though it has been given to you with the full knowledge that it is so. Questioner : But Dada, I have attained this Gnan, and now if I say that there is no objection for me to continue my work as a lawyer, is that all right? Dadashri : No, you cannot say such thing. Continue your profession as a lawyer, as long as you want to, but this, ‘there is no objection’ you uttered is what breaks the law. Do not create any risk for yourself. To create the risk is like removing the fishplate between the two rails, it will derail the train. That is 10

why ‘we’ (the Gnani Purush and the fully enlightened Lord within) have said, ‘Do not speak negligently that nothing is going to impede me.’ Questioner : You have shown such a straight and easy path, but after this if we will not keep constant awareness and abide by five Agnas then the Gnan which Dada has given will transform in to a weapon, hurting others, will it not? Dadashri : Then one can lose. It will not be wasted completely, many births will be reduced. But if these five Agnas are lost then your expected goal will be delayed. This current era of the time cycle is one of kusang (company of non-spiritual people). Everywhere you see is kusang, kusang, kusang, it exists at home, at office and in business. Satsangs which are going on outside is also kusang. If you walk away from here to another place then that is kusang for you. Now at this time if these five Agnas do not exist then that kusang can destroy—take you away in worldly life—you. Therefore if you follow five Agnas then kusang will not touch you. Or else, stay put here, if you do not want to follow the five Agnas then stay along with me, then also kusang will not touch you. Nonetheless, the positive inner bhaav—intent begins the moment one takes this Gnan. Questioner : It does happen, it is correct Dada. You said that once you became positive, circumstances will come together. Dadashri : Negativity in a person throws him in the puzzle. Therefore remain positive only. A person cannot accomplish any kind of religion in this world as long as fear exists within him. By saying, ‘there is no father boss up there for you’, I remove your fear November 2006

and panic from all around. And any additional fear that happens is also removed, but if you take it in the negative sense, then it will lead to difficulties. That kind of liberty is not given. Questioner : Dada, let us ask you, which are the danger zones in our spiritual progress. It is better to ask you now so there is no problem later on as we want to avoid picking up your statements and use it without any support and foundation. Dadashri : By picking up support less statement you can get in to a lot of trouble. If you ask me then there is no problem and now the only risk is to speak a statement like ‘nothing is going to affect me.’ ‘We’ have said that, ‘sex is not poison, but fearlessness in sex is poison.’ And he says, ‘nothing can happen to me now, because I am with Dada.’ Fearlessness is the only poison. One can be ruined with such carelessness. That is not the place at all. You are neither in the Self nor in the ‘file’, such carelessness? ‘No one can touch me’ where did this come from? Questioner : That is right he is neither in the Self, nor in the file. Dadashri : He does not exist in any of these two places and where did this new thing come from? So it is risky, that is why we are saying that, ‘brother, we are telling you, to get rid of the fear, that sex is not poison, but fearlessness in sex is poison.’ I have said all that after looking in the Gnan that the risk is not in the behavior. Otherwise who will agree to take this many responsibilities? It is a big responsibility. And that is why you can become free from fear and the need to do so much. Become free from fear and whatever doubts and suspicions you had will go away. This will happen or that November 2006

will happen etc, mooah, nothing is going to happen. Nothing is going to happen to you, it is just you (the relative) and I. Shuddhatma is for the purpose of remaining in the shuddha Questioner : It is true that there is no duality when we say we are Shuddhatma (pure Soul), but then why do we have to use the word shuddha (pure)? Dadashri : Yes, it is very necessary, it is a very scientific word, and that is why employ and use, and speak ‘shuddha’. Why not just the word ‘Atma’ (Soul) alone? Why did we not use another word? This is because; the Gnani Purush has given the state of Shuddhatma to you. And after that if any work done by Chandubhai (non-Self) happens to be so unacceptable that entire world would contempt and spurn you, You are not to let go of the ‘I am verily shuddha—pure.’ Then there is no one who can hurt you. Do not move an iota from this position of faith—shraddha. If you do, you lost it. Do not leave the purity. That karma will go away. Karma will leave after giving its fruit. Otherwise you will start thinking in the mind that, because of this bad deed, I am spoiled. Spoiled means gone. Therefore no matter how slanderous the world becomes, and the entire world may scorn and contempt you, Your pure state of Shuddhatma remains intact. Such is the Gnan ‘we’ have given you. However, if someone believes in the mind that, now nothing is going to happen to me, I am safe; then he is hung, gone forever. Yes, it is important to have a healthy fear. One must be cautious. You should caution Chandubhai saying, ‘Chandubhai, tread with caution. Lord Mahavir too had walked with caution.’ What 11

should you say to a neighbor? Do not harbor any fear, but beware and exercise caution.

happiness of mine will go away.’ Oh, let it go man, let go of it. Then only that bliss will arrive.

Such resolution can make you free from avarice

Know these creators of fearful intents as separate

The gluttonous greed (lalach) would disappear once you made a resolution, ‘I do not want anything’. Otherwise this severe greed only is the risk, no? Action is not the risk, avarice and gluttony is the risk. It is a different thing when you say, ‘I do not want anything’, and then you take it. Excess gluttonous greed is rare amongst ‘us’ (Dadashri’s mahatmas). Such greed can drag you to hell and will not let you digest the Gnan.

This is our Atma Gnan! It is not an ordinary thing. This is such a wonderful thing you have achieved! These (bhaav) feelings, which arise from the mind and from the intellect, are the ones, which create fear. You just have to know once, that these are the ones that create fear. The intellect will create interference as long as it is in operation.

Questioner : Will this excess avarice persist after this Gnan also? Dadashri : It may persist in a rare individual. Questioner : How can one become free from these avarices—lalach? Dadashri : If he resolves to be rid of it, then it will leave. One should become free from the avarice, shouldn’t one? It is for one’s own benefit, isn’t it? After making decision, after one becomes free from it (avarice), one will feel the bliss of the disentanglement. One would experience the easiness and peace of mind. One may feel fearful of losing his happiness, but after being free from the lalach—insatiable greed, he will experience more happiness. Questioner : But one cannot get that benefit until the fear of losing the happiness leaves, no? As long as the fear exists, he would not be inclined to leave the greed would he? Dadashri : So the avarice will not leave because of fear. And he has fear, ‘This 12

Tuber of fear is in mind The nature of the mind is to burst like fire-works. It is the stock, which is filled within. The stock was filled according to the knowledge of the past life. It will not agree with the present life’s knowledge and this causes conflicts. Questioner : What if it is the tuber of pride? Dadashri : If you have tubers of pride then it will show you fear, fear and fear when it erupts. It will show this and that. The one that shows the fear is the worldly—relative knowledge. All those tubers will erupt. From these which tuber sprouts a lot more during whole day? That tuber is bigger. Questioner : The mind will keep going where it feels fear. Dadashri : You (the Self) and the mind have nothing to do with each other. No concern at all. If people are talking or bothering with each other in the next room then how is that your concern? Similarly why do you need to worry about this mind, intellect, chit and ego that are jumping around in the next room—the November 2006

non-Self? You need to keep watching—seeing only. You should not worry about that. Mind is not your cousin from seven generations that you need to have any concerns. Familiarity with ignorance has been such a long drawn affair that it will still crop up and arise after the Self has been realized. However You should say, ‘I am not going to pay attention to any of your screams and hollers.’ Due to extreme congestion, the outpouring force of thoughts from the mind will be at a high rate and it is then when one enjoys watching the hilarious nature of the drama and scenery. The mind may bring forth all different kind of jumble and junk. Questioner : Mind will bring all with it, but along with this it walks away stirring and upsetting the chit, intellect, ego and the physical body too, doesn’t it? There is no problem if mind, minds its own business. But it stirs up all the others within. Dadashri : All this is only the empire of one kind, isn’t it? The non-Self department is entirely foreign department. The ones (karma) that are being charged (in past life) will come to discharge automatically. We do not have any concern in that. After getting discharge it does not hurt you. Thought is not the energy of the Self Questioner : Sometime I think that the thought is the power of Soul? Dadashri : No, it is the nature of mind. And mind is a physical thing. What else you want to ask? Questioner : If the Soul (Atma), does not have power to think, then the one who November 2006

guides us are the mind and intellect, so should we be guided by them? How should we follow? What should we do? Dadashri : You should not follow their guidance. You just need to keep observing. What is the mind thinking? If bad thoughts arise then also one needs to observe them, and if good thoughts arise then also needs to observe. Only needs to keep seeing them. Whatever comes in front of you are gross circumstances. And whatever the mind dictates, bad thoughts or good thoughts or doing bad chintvan (persistent focus and rumination on someone, usually visualized in chit) of someone, these are called subtle circumstances. You need to keep ‘seeing’ all these circumstances. Only thing You need to ‘do’ is to ‘see’ them all. You don’t need to do anything else. The thought is not Your energy—power. This entire world has arisen because of this delusion that this energy of the thought belongs to the Self. Then it (the mind) will say, ‘What will happen if the car collides on the way?’ Then you should say, ‘What will happen? I will ‘see’ that too.’ You are the observer only, aren’t You? You are the knower and the seer. What else will happen? Mind will scare you by such thoughts like what will happen on the way? But You should say, ‘I will see at that time, whatever will happen, whatever will happen I will see and that is ‘vyavasthit’.’ Nothing is going to happen beyond vyavasthit. The vyavasthit is arranged such that it will not become even the least avyavasthit (out of vyavasthit). Contradictory nature of the mind Questioner : Lots of different kinds of thoughts arise in the mind. Mind does not become absolutely zero (non-existent). Thoughts keep coming. 13

Dadashri : Thoughts, it is such that it will ‘speak’ something that you may not like. So then, will the ear remain without listening over there? If You say to the ears, ‘Don’t listen’ will it work then?’ It is the nature of the ear to listen. The mind is simply giving the information; this is good, this is fearful, this and that, this way mind performs its duty. Accept what you like and reject the rest. The mind is in its own nature. Say for example, if I was coming here from Santa Cruz by cab, and there was an accident on the way, then even ‘our’ mind will show the pamphlet—advance directive, that there is a possibility of meeting with an accident further ahead. Then ‘we’ would say, ‘brother, I noted the content and the warning, I will remain alert.’ A bit later, it will show another pamphlet, ‘there is not such thing that can cause an accident.’ Then ‘we’ will say, ‘noted, with thanks.’ Then it will show another pamphlet. It (mind) does not have anything that it wants to kill you. It is not the nature of mind that will stick on one thing only. Had you inquired about mind like this? Does it get stuck on one point only? Questioner : It keeps wandering. Dadashri : If You get stuck at one point then it will stay. Otherwise if You say that your content is noted then it will show you another pamphlet. And if You say that no, you are right, now what will happen? Then it will continue for hours. You can know different kinds of thoughts that arise in the mind. If mind shows a bad thought, ‘what can happen if your mother-inlaw dies today?’ Then you should say, ‘noted.’ Then it will say, ‘what if you die?’ then you should say, ‘I noted that too, now talk about 14

next third thing.’ Again it will show that too, ‘if you die tomorrow then who will take care of all these?’ Then you should say, ‘I noted that.’ Oh, it will talk about getting married even at this old age, this is how the mind is, there is no telling when and what will it say. But why do you need to get mad listening to this? It will tell you about becoming a widow, ‘what will you do if you become a widow?’ Then you should say, ‘brother, became widow now let’s move. Now tell me about the next thing.’ Mind has become habituated to grumbling. You should not take it in to account at all. A mad man is passing from behind, what are you supposed to do with him? You need to know just as that. Thoughts are coming by it self. You need to keep watching what kind of thoughts arise, that’s it nothing else. Mind does not have anything like it wants to speak in a certain way only. If you become adamant then it will oppose you. That is why you should say, ‘noted its contents.’ Yes, otherwise it will tell you that, ‘you do not respect me.’ I will respect you first. Then does the mind hurt you? No. Questioner : But the one who informed you that there is possibility of having an accident, is that a mind saying this? Did the mind speak that? Dadashri : The mind spoke that and then I will accept and tell it, that brother what you are saying is correct, then, it will talk about next thing. Next it will talk about satsang. The mind does not think that you don’t like this. The mind will say as it sees. That is why all these are circumstantial evidences. So we just need to take note of it. If mind scares you and if you get scared then it is all over, isn’t it? The mind is not doing this to scare you. The mind November 2006

says this to warn you, to make you alert. We will not be scared like that. It will make the agnani—the one without this Gnan, scared to death. ‘What if the accident will occur?’ for that period of time one gets absorbed in mind. Concentration at the time of driving Once in a while try to drive from here to Mumbai and see how you will maintain such concentration that you will forget home and everything else. Ask these CEO’s who tell the driver to sit aside and they take over the driving because of the concentration of the mind that happens. People wonder why these masters would have such kind of hobby of driving a car when he has a chauffer. But he attains concentration of mind, no? They attain some mental peace, for a mind, which was agitated before, so they feel happy. The boss feels so restless and harassed the whole day and when he starts to drive the car then he attains concentration! And if he does not keep the concentration in the thick traffic he will run in to accident. That is why concentration is created either due to fear or if one feels fear from God. It is possible to create concentration if one feels affection like for money or for wealth. One should make an attempt to know how the liking can be created, that’s it. Mind acts like radar The mind keeps showing its nature. How is the mind? It keeps working like radar. An aircraft has radar, which shows that from this direction three fighter planes are approaching. That the pilot can detect in the radar. At that time the person who detects this does not get scared. It is not detected in the radar to get scared. The viewer changes the direction of his flight to avoid the collision or the fight. Likewise we have to make such good use of November 2006

it. The mind detects like the radar. The nature of the mind is like radar. If it notices fear nearby then it will start to scream and holler. The way radar warns the pilot, the mind too warns and scares the people here. The way radar works is the way the mind works. It will say, ‘hey, the planes are fast coming from behind, hey they are coming fast.’ You should say, ‘Yes, noted, I am turning, I understood.’ So some times it helps like radar. Sometimes the mind becomes apprehensive and anxious and for no reason it will scream like radar, ‘hey, they approached, they approached.’ Then we should say, ‘brother, let them approach, I am turning in this direction. Why are you screaming?’ Then it will talk about satsang again. Then there is nothing that it will hold on to same thing. We get involved and get scared too, then the mind will not budge. If we explain—converse with it then it will not continue its scary signals. Mind is radar and know that it is separate Questioner : When this mind dictates, it will dictate only when there is the existence of this phase in it, no? Dadashri : If it sees such circumstances then only it will dictate, otherwise it will not, but circumstances would not be like the way they appear. But the mind will dictate as it sees. That is its duty. Mind is duty bound. That is why radar is necessary, isn’t it? On the contrary people like to get rid of this radar. Hey, how is it going to work without the mind? It is radar. That is why the mind is necessary. It warns and cautions if there is something to be feared, and if there is a place where happiness exists then it will say it is a very beautiful place to enjoy. That means it works like radar. And if you think that fear is around 15

the corner then You should get in to the cave of Shuddhatma. In that instance if accident occurred as you remained in Shuddhatma, as the Self, then You did not lose anything, no? And mind dictates then, what do you have to lose in that? People of this world say, ‘do not show this kind of fear.’ They do not like it if the mind shows fear. But if it shows fear to You then get in to Shuddhatma, revert to the Self. When abnormal thoughts arise Wise people say why are you worrying without any reason? What is the only thing you need to do? You have to think. And when the thoughts become abnormal (bothersome) that means you have started worrying. If abnormalities arise in the thoughts then you should stop, you should close down. Don’t we close the doors when the tornado arrives? Similarly when the thoughts start to arise above normal then you should stop. Otherwise thoughts become troublesome and then it will show you various kinds of fear and all varieties of fear. That is why you should not proceed in that direction at all. Just think as much as is necessary and needed, and then stop. Not any place in the world to feel surprise Questioner : There may not be the surprise element of fear and yet fear exists, and the mind keeps going there. Dadashri : Whatever you say, either it is fear or the surprise news; the mind will stop there. When ‘we’ give Gnan to all these people, their fear goes away. Even though this one surprise remains that what, this happened again? If one finds out that sugar is not going to be available then for at least two to three 16

minutes he will be lost in the knots of the mind as to how to get it. These initial two or three minutes will preoccupy him. Thoughts will arise, what will I do, will do this or that? He will look for the solution and then will get lost in the puzzle as if he has to bring it right now and now only! Yet he is going to get it tomorrow. But why does he need to get entangled right now? Questioner : He will think in his mind how to get it, won’t he? Dadashri : That adjustment does not remain in the morning. He would have forgotten in the morning. It is just a bad habit he has formed. Overcoming the dependency on the mind is the only purushaarth Questioner : Can this Gnan (Selfrealization) lose its energy and leave if one does not become worry free and fearless? Dadashri : No, after all nothing is left in that, isn’t it? It cannot happen at this place. But one should perform an experiment in vyavasthit, scientific circumstantial evidence. On what basis, this worldly life (sansar) is perpetuated from so long? That foundation is not fractured yet. That is why one has to overcome this foundation. After attaining our Gnan what is it that one needs to overcome? Questioner : One should overcome the foundation. Dadashri : One has to overcome that which perpetuates this worldly life. Nothing else. One has to keep on doing the attempts to overcome the foundation. Now on what basis does this world exists? The worldly life is perpetuated because November 2006

the Self becomes absorbed or becomes one in the phases (paryaya) of the mind, in the state (avastha) of the mind. The intellect does not harass you or no one else harasses you. It is just that the Self became absorbed in the mind, and that is the reason the worldly life is perpetuated. Therefore one should keep on overcoming the phases (paryaya) of the mind. One should keep saying (maintaining), ‘not mine, not mine’. Once you keep on this process, You became separate. One has formed the habit for so long that it does not let you become free. One has formed habit since so long that he experiences gratification. This gratification is not felt by Shuddhatma, it is felt by the ego (ahamkar, ‘I am Chandulal’). That is why one has to keep on overcoming this. One has to see both separate. One must see separate. Then only, one’s task is accomplished. The strange nature of the thoughts What is the nature of thoughts? The thoughts will arise like it wants to visit the butcher’s street! ‘Sheshame bahirabhaava.’-Any bhaav that arises besides these (Gnan and darshan), are external and excessive. Then the sutra says, ‘How can these external bhaavs (intents and feelings) be identified?’ What kind of external bhaav have you made? Then it says, ‘Savve sanjog lakkhana’. They can be identified through circumstances or events that arise. If a person is stealing, can we not understand what kind of intentions had been made? If we did not find anyone to embezzle our money then can we not understand what intentions we had made? Yes, if the thought came about cheating someone that same person will cheat you. That is the result of that (previous) thought. It is not the result of action. It is the November 2006

result of thought. What do people assume? I might have committed fraud with him so he will do the same with me. No, it is not like that! You thought about cheating that is why you got cheated. That is why know the thoughts. All these are very risky. Just the word, thought is very risky. Until how long it is risky? It is risky until one has not attained the Gnan (knowledge of the Self). After attaining this Gnan thought does not exist at all. If one gets absorbed or becomes one with the thoughts then it is called thoughts (vicharey to vichaar). Therefore one should find out his intentions from the nature of the circumstances. If you had a thought one day in your mind that what is wrong if I meet with an accident? If you had said this once then also such thought will arise. If you had made intentions everyday in your mind that I don’t want to ever meet with an accident, or even the thought does not arise then you will not meet with an accident. But only one day of entertaining such a thought will let in the possibility of meeting with an accident. So there must not be any contradictions. We need to follow with great understanding in this world. Risky! It is full of risks. Fearlessness with the awareness of the Self We should not proceed as guided by the mind. We should guide the mind according to our goal. Say for instance if you had sold the house and the children did not know, and if they see the house burning then they will become furious and very upset! Then the children will come screaming at home, ‘our house is burning, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go,’ Then the father will say, ‘Hey son, we sold it 17

yesterday, now leave it alone!’ Then, there is no effect! A person gets beaten up having the wrong knowledge and with the right understanding he becomes free from the suffering. He got the correct knowledge that, ‘brother, now we have sold the house’ then the same person again becomes a changed person, no? For example you all are traveling with me and we come to a dense forest. All of a sudden we hear the growl of a tiger. Then you will say, ‘we can hear the growling of a tiger. Then I will say, ‘the tiger is in the cage’ so everyone moves ahead! So in this way the world runs on each other’s support. Otherwise people would die in this world. If the tiger is in the cage and one does not know this fact, then he will definitely feel fear. He will feel fear and scream, ‘it is coming, it is coming!’ It is useless to die before dying, what do you say? When the time will come for death then we will say that we died. But to die before the death, ‘Oh Baap re—father, I died?’ One speaks such words a hundred and fifty times, but he is not dying even one time. Then what is the use of speaking such a thing? Do not be guided by your mind You can win everything if you do not get scared. If you do become scared then all the ghosts will possess you. Did you understand this? Questioner : Yes, I understood. Dadashri : What decision you have come up with? Questioner : I have not come up with a decision yet. Dadashri : If the decision is not made then who is speaking inside? Who is speaking 18

in the parliament? Again under whose guidance he is speaking? How can you believe what mind says? After becoming a Gnani (having received the Gnan), who will be guided by the mind? Are you becoming free from not letting your mind rule over you now? But all that has been bound only, no? That which is bound by the mind can be unbound with the Gnan. But what is it that makes him so interested that he agrees with the mind? What are ‘we’ telling our mahatmas (those who have received the Gnan of Dadashri and are following the Agnas of Dadashri)? Do not listen to even a word of the mind. ‘Mun ka chalta tun chale, taka sarvaswa jaaya’, meaning ‘The one who lets his mind rule his actions loses everything!’ So you must quit listening to the mind. How close is Your relation with the mind? Do such mistakes exist? ‘We’ are cautioning you to leave aside this ‘guidance by the mind’ quietly and live with your independent decision so this will not hurt you later. If You need help of the mind then take it and if You do not then it is all right, keep it aside. But this mind will move you round and round for fifteen days and then will get you married. Even great saints have been scared of the guidance of the mind, then how can you be so naïve? You do not even know how to put on shoes properly! Mind is obedient to the Gnani We would not have anything that would be in the belief. Our mind would have been subdued to us. Our mind would not speak anything. If someone were to slap me ‘we’ would grant him forgiveness. If someone were to insult me, ‘we’ would grant him forgiveness. If a police officer were to put me in jail, ‘we’ would grant him forgiveness. What will ‘we’ November 2006

say to the police officer? I had to lock my home by myself now you lock the door for me. Is there any problem? Even if a bomb were to explode, You should remain fearless and unperturbed. Such inner energy and power should be Your state. Other than this fear is bound to harass you. How can you call this a life? Do you want to become fearless or not? Do you want to stay permanently fearless? Awareness against thoughts

Questioner : What will be the result of these thoughts? Dadashri : We entrusted the result to the vyavasthit, scientific circumstantial evidence. We do not have any concern. We just need to remain seated in the car at ease. Mind will say, ‘What if the car will get in to clash?’ You just need to keep watching, that’s it. After entrusting its effect to the vyavasthit we should just remain seated at ease.

Questioner : How can we stop the thoughts that harass and make you worry?

Questioner : It is not that easy, is it?

Dadashri : To think is not the nature of the Soul; it is the nature of the mind. If you would have made a decision that if all these people are insulting you and you don’t want to listen, even then the ear will listen because of its nature. So it will not stay without listening. Similarly, it is the nature of mind to think. The thoughts will arise even if you do not like it. It is its own nature to perform the duty. Thoughts are gneya (that to be known) and You are gnata (the knower). So whichever thoughts arise, You have to keep knowing them, You need to keep observing them. You should not give any opinion whether they are pleasant or unpleasant. There is no problem if any unpleasant thoughts arise. With the intents the thoughts have been charged from the past life, with the similar intent will come in to effect in the current life. We have to keep watching that those thoughts had been charged and they are now coming in to fruition. This Gnan of ours is with samvara (the stoppage of karmic influx) that is why one will not charge new karma. If You get absorbed or become one with the thoughts, then the karma will charge. (This can never happen after the separation of the Self from the non-Self, in Akram Vignan).

Dadashri : It is easy. From the time you decide you can remain at ease, because it is under the control of vyavasthit. If you try to meddle in something which is under the control of someone else, you will become fool. Only thing is under your control is to see and to know what is going on for fact. Anything that needs to be done right or wrong will be done by vyavasthit. Actually vyavasthit is not such that anything can go wrong. A person dies at the age of seventy, but before that he keeps screaming for no reason, ‘I died, I died’ and gets terrified with fear. The world is not such to feel fear about. Mind will show even to me that, ‘What if you will meet with an accident further ahead?’ Then I will say, ‘I noted the contents.’ Then it will show another pamphlet. Mind does not have anything that it will hold on to previous pamphlet only. You should not get absorbed with the mind. The world is evolved due to being absorbed with the non-Self. All the intents of the mind are discharge intents (effects). When these causes begin to discharge and if ‘You’ get absorbed then the new charge intents (causes) are created. You should not take ‘elevation’ or ‘depression’ over your head. Nothing is going to happen. Nothing goes bad. I do not get

involved in the worldly life even for a moment and still nothing goes bad. Questioner : So is there no need to harbor fear? Dadashri : ‘We’ should not have any fear at all. ‘You are Shuddhatma, pure Soul’, nobody can see You, nobody can hurt You, nobody can kill You, nobody can challenge You! This world remains because of your ghosts (effective mind, speech and body) and irrational fear. Nobody interferes with You. And if Chandubhai is down a little bit, then You need to help him. Stand in front of mirror and pat your self on your own back and tell Chandubhai, ‘I am with you, up until now you were all alone and puzzled. You had no one to confide your problems to. Now I am with you all the way. Why are you so worried? I am the Lord. You are Chandubhai, therefore do not be afraid.’ If Chandubhai is elevated then tell him, ‘You are flying high because of my realm.’ Run the foreign department by sitting in the home department. This Gnan is without any connection with the non-Self (nirleyp) and therefore nothing will touch You. The chit is responsible for fear and terror Questioner : Now please explain about chit (The subtle part of inner organ which takes exact pictures, which has property of Gnan knowledge and darshan - vision) properly and its role in the creation of the entanglementsconfusion? Dadashri : Chit goes and sees everything. The chit visualizes the film which was taken from the past life and the mind only renders an opinion that this is good and this is bad. Questioner : Is the mind made up of 20

opinions and tubers-knots? Dadashri : Mind is not a thing at all, it is only your opinions. And it projects which opinions you had. Questioner : So then, is it the chit or is it the mind, which is responsible for this worldly life? Dadashri : It is the chit. If you had been to some place and had been severely scared, then chit will keep on going to that same place again and again. So it will keep on terrifying you even when you are sitting at your home. Questioner : The mind gives an opinion, so then what is it that gives rise to terror within? Dadashri : Mind is the one that forms opinions, and it is the only chit that frightens you repeatedly. If you watched a terrifying scene then it will continue to terrify. The chit keeps seeing (again) everything. The opinions are rendered on the basis of the knowledge it (the mind) has received. Questioner : But what is the thing that binds a human being? Dadashri : It is the chit. Only chit wanders excessively to places it likes or fears. If you had seen a snake in your bedroom during the day, you will remember this at bedtime. When chit feels fear then it keeps on going there and there only. A time will come when even the doctors’ chit will wander far and wide. But it is good that during surgery their chit remains present. If the surgery is done without the presence of chit then after the death of the patient, after cremation of his body you may find a pair of scissors. That is why only out of fear of November 2006

malpractice, during surgery doctors keep their chit present in what they are doing. It happens to these lawyers everyday. The chit wanders and reaches the court even when they are eating a meal at home. It resets and stays with them after I teach them. The chit of these lawyers wanders quite a bit. A lawyer’s chit would wander in the court at the time of eating a meal. Only a rare lawyer will be having his meal properly. Otherwise by 11.00 o’clock he would be watching the clock and he would have gone to the judge, while having his meal at home. Now the lawyers are having a meal at peace after this ‘Gnan’. Then, he also experiences that he is not losing anything. He comes and tells me that, ‘Dada, I had gone at 11.15 AM this morning. I was thinking that I will be late. But you had said to eat with presence of chit. So I ate with presence of chit. After that I saw the vyavasthit—the evidences that unfolded. In that case judge himself came at 11.30 AM and my case was the first one to get started.’ I told him, ‘It is just like this.’ So why are you afraid? This world is not to feel fear about! The Judge also has ownership of this world, you have the ownership on this world, the defendant is also an owner of this world and the plaintiff too owns this world. This world exists with everyone’s right. And adjustments are made for all in this world. This adjustment is exact. It is never inexact. Get rid of fear for one life Questioner : If we are settling with equanimity and if the other person misuses this in his interaction with me, then do I need to continue letting him do that to me? Dadashri : No one has power to misuse. And whatever misuse is going to November 2006

happen, will happen, no one can stop this, no one can change it. So do not harbor any fear. Get rid of all fear completely. Get rid of all fear, enough for at least one life. I do have a guarantee that this can be done. Where is the need to look for any fault in discharge? So everything is a discharge (an effect) in this world. Now, to look for the faults in the discharge is meaningless and will not help you in anyway. This worldly life misery is perpetuated by looking at faults in the effect and discharge of other human beings. What You (mahatmas) consider a result, an effect, a discharge is considered as a cause by the worldly (ignorant, non-Self realized) people, and that is precisely why they are so entangled within and find the world to be a puzzle. They will say to You, ‘ you did this’ and you (mahatma) will say that, ‘No, this is the result, this is discharge. I am not the doer.’ That is why You are fearless. He (A non Self-realized) feels your discharge is a cause and will say, ‘Why are you behaving this way?’ Hey mooah (mortal one), we do not feel any fear and why do you feel fear? And if it all anyone has to fear anything, let it be Dada, because we are all his followers. But I would know that the kind of stock has been filled in the past life, is what is now coming forth in discharge. From where is he going to get any new stock? It is vyavasthit, keep on doing your work The only thing that is to be ‘done’ is to settle the file with equanimity. This all is ‘vyavasthit’ (scientific circumstantial evidence) only. In it there is no reason to harbor any fear or worries or stress. Keep on doing your work. What am I saying? Keep on doing the work as much you can. After then it is vyavasthit. 21

But there is no reason for you to harbor fear. Keep ‘seeing’ what is happening Questioner : Someone is obstinately illegal in his worldly affairs and I have no authority to punish him, but I reported him to my boss who has the authority to punish. Now the boss punishes him. I was the one who reported the man so did I not become instrumental (nimit) in the punishment? Dadashri : No, but You do not have that inner intent in the mind, do you? This is done by Chandubhai (the non-Self), isn’t it? Then what do You (the Self) need to do? You need to keep ‘seeing’ what Chandubhai does. The world will keep on going. You should not harbor any fear. You should keep the inner intent (bhaav) in your mind that let no any living being suffer any hurt. Then you need to do your routine; whatever happens in that routine You should not meddle in that. You should not create any doubts and suspicions. You should remain as the Self. You have to perform your duties, do you not? This Gnan can liberate you in one more lifetime This Gnan is such that one more lifetime is left. What is the reason for even one life? You are following the Agnas that we are giving you. When you abide by this Agnas, there is a sense of doer ship (karta bhaav). For this one creates merit karma and one has to take another life to enjoy the fruit of merit karma. That is why one more life exists. Questioner : If one follows the agna then also is miserable and if one does not then also is miserable. Dadashri : If one follows then there is no misery, there is benefit if one follows the 22

agna. If one does not follow then it is dangerous, risky. One will earn two to three more births. To the ones who are going to be liberated soon… Questioner : Please tell me if there is anything special about attaining moksha easily. Dadashri : Is there anything that is particularly difficult for you? Questioner : If you show me then only I would know, right? Dadashri : No, but something must be difficult, no? If you become entangled in anything that is where the difficulty lies. In what matters do you not get puzzled the second time around? Questioner : That kind of entanglement does not happen anywhere. Dadashri : Do you get puzzled at least a little bit? Say for instance if a police officer comes to arrest you with handcuffs, would you not get puzzled and entangled within immediately? Would one not make this easy before going ahead on the path of moksha? Proceeding on the path of salvation one will have to make at least this one easy, no? How will it work there, otherwise? You should tell the police officer, ‘brother, you came so late. Why did you come so late?’ If the police officer comes with warrant and handcuffs and is looking for Chandubhai, what will happen within the mind of Chandubhai? Questioner : It will get entangled and puzzled. Dadashri : I have not left anything that can puzzle you. I have given you such a Gnan that one will not have any puzzle or November 2006

entanglements in any situation. We should selfcheck what might happen if a police officer comes with warrant and handcuffs for an arrest. And since he has come with a warrant he will not return empty handed will he? Questioner : No. Dadashri : We should shake his hand and go with him, what is wrong with it? He is arrived so he is not going to leave without arresting you. Now our Gnan also will say that, ‘It is vyavasthit—scientific circumstantial evidence, so the file has come, settle with equanimity.’ We have attained this Gnan in every different way. So we should tell the police officer, ‘Let me shake your hand, or have a cup of tea at least and then leave.’ What is the problem with this approach? Questioner : It is correct. Dadashri : I don’t think it has been tested that much. We do need the tested, don’t we? Is it going to work like this otherwise? Vibrations cease with Gnan, multiply with ignorance In the current era of the time cycle one is not fortunate enough to perform good karma but has the misfortune of taking part in the evil ones. After attaining this Gnan the mahatmas do not like any negative activities that take place due to the unfolding of a negative karma. Whether that karma is positive or negative, it is merely a discharge and in the process it will create corresponding vibrations and then everything will calm down. But for those who do not have Gnan, they may not even feel remorse when a negative karma is unfolding in this life. And along with the vibrations of the unfolding karma, their reactions, because of their ignorance, create new vibrations (causal November 2006

karma). Thus the vibrations are doubled. Because of ignorance there is no telling when the vibrations will occur and it will not matter whether the person is an ordinary householder or an ascetic. Wherever there is ignorance, there is presence of imaginary fear and where there is false fear, vibrations are bound to occur. Liberation is the pursuit of, and the devotion to, the Self Now fear and false fear reactions are not going to affect you anymore, no? Questioner : No. Dadashri : Fear does not exist where the Self (Shuddhatma) is and where there is fear, the Self does not exist. The authors of scriptures have said that it is more than enough if the Self were established even for one samaya (smallest division of the time element). If one says, ‘I am the Self,’ after attaining the Self for even a samaya, then the work is done. After giving you this Gnan, you say, ‘I am Shuddhatma,’ and this happens naturally and automatically. That is why You are the Self, and you have become the Self. Lord Mahavir has said that saying I am the Self even for a moment after becoming the Self is liberation. This you have been saying now for quite a significant time now, whereas the other folks are saying this not after becoming the Self. Become the Self and then say, I am Shuddhatma, for just once, then it is enough. Thereafter one has understood this state of the Self alone is mine, and all the rest is the non-Self, temporary and not mine, then the work is done. Questioner : ‘Ey gupta tattva ne jey aradhey chhe, te pratyaksha amrut ne paami 23

abhaya thhaaya chhe’ meaning the one who pursues and worships the hidden element (the Self), attains the nectar of immortality directly and becomes fearless, that is what has been said, no Dada? Dadashri : Yes, the one who pursues Shuddhatma with single-minded devotion; utters Shuddhatma after becoming Shuddhatma; will attain the direct the eternal essence of immortality and become fearless. Until one attains the Self, the drops of poison, arising from the state, ‘I am Chandulal,’ will keep dripping constantly within, and due to this his speech, conduct and mind-thoughts will come out poisonous. And when ‘we’ give the Gnan, immediately the drops of the nectar of immortality (amrut) start to drip, so the thoughts, speech and conduct begins to become laden with the taste and energy of immortality. Incurable worldly affairs and binding of karma Questioner : You have said that these worldly dealings are discharging only, coming to an end, after taking this Gnan. That is accepted. Despite this however, somewhere and in some instances there is some interaction for which there is no cure—and nothing can be done about it. In such vyavahaar (interaction) what are danger zones for–the situations about which one has to fear the possibility of charging (creating new karma)? Dadashri : Danger zones that charge karma simply do not exist at all. But the charging will occur where if there is any suspicion or doubt creeping in. Once a doubt sets in know that a danger zone has arisen. What kind of doubt and suspicion? It is the kind that takes away sleep. Minor doubts that come and leave are not material or consequential. 24

Questioner : So then is one to remain blasé and fearless? Dadashri : No, if one remains deliberately careless (befaam), he will be hurt. Why does one not touch hot coals? Questioner : So then what action is to be taken to prevent this from happening? Dadashri : What other action will you take? The only action one can take is to repent and do pratikraman. Three danger zones in Akram Vignan Questioner : Which are the areas that can cause one to slip away from the Self, into worldly life, after attaining this Gnan? Dadashri : Only three things are responsible to cause down fall (spiritual) in the worldly life after attaining Gnan. You are free to enjoy all kinds of good and delicious foods, wear all the beautiful and fashionable clothes you want, wear fashionable glasses, go and watch movies, eat anything you want but you should not eat any meat. Secondly, you should not consume any alcohol and thirdly, you should not have a thought of a woman who is not married to you. If the thoughts arise about a woman who is not rightfully yours then do pratikraman. These are the only three danger zones responsible for slippage and falling from the heights of Gnan. There is not any other thing that can cause to slip down. The danger is so grave that you would be lost in the ocean of worldly life and its miseries. Slip down means lost for ever. That is why I am telling you not to accompany me to these lofty heights of Gnan, because if you fall from here, there will be no trace of a bone of yours left to pick up. It is better to fall from a lower height, than this one, at least something can be salvaged. There November 2006

are no other danger zones in our path. Other then this, carry on your job or business, do everything, enjoy your snacks and gourmet foods, have your tea. Even if you drink tea, tea is intoxication, but it will not hurt you like the intoxication (keyf) caused by the others, would it? Consuming alcohol is to put the self to sleep and render it spiritually unconscious. Then Gnan is lost and then one binds a life form in hell. The same is the case with marital infidelity. So take note and be forewarned, these three; meat consumption, alcohol ingestion and illicit sexual interaction will keep you in eternal bondage. You do not like these danger zones, do you? Questioner : No, I don’t. ‘I know’ is spiritual suicide Questioner : Can one say that this, ‘I know, I understand’, is the greatest obstruction in the path of moksha—liberation? Dadashri : Yes, it is a very grave danger and will lead to one’s spiritual suicide—aapghati kaaran. Questioner : Please give more clarification about this danger. What will be like when one is free form it? What will be a person like when he is filled with this grave mistake? And, how can one maintain awareness against this mistake? Dadashri : These small children have a healthy fear of older people. A little child feels fear because of the heat of the intellect of the elder person, so what one needs to do? One has to become like a child, just like a child with limited understanding. One has to interact with children after becoming a little child then it will play with you. Even a year and half-old child would play with me, as if we were of the November 2006

same age. Should we not be able to see some kind of result, at least? Think about this and one day you will be able to understand. Once it comes in to your understanding then you will be able to find it. And one needs to have an impartial approach—not take sides of Chandulal. This ability to see it from the viewpoint of the child may be difficult for you due to deficiency of keen internal awareness, but it will come to you eventually. Danger zones in the path of moksha Leave and forsake anything that interferes in the path of liberation and proceed forward. This is considered one is following the goal, and not forsaking it or deviating from it. No matter how difficult one’s worldly situation, one must never forsake the goal (dhyeya) of moksha. Does it move according to your goal, for You? Nothing off track? So it has become natural (sahaj) no? Questioner : I have to keep turning the ‘handle’ within. Dadashri : Do you have to keep it turning? But do they (kashaya: greed, pride, anger and deceit) listen to you? Right away? Questioner : Right away. Dadashri : Right away? Will not take any time? That is good. The mark of liberation is dependant on that. The more they pay attention to Your instructions and listen to You, the greater the freedom. By that much You are separate from them. The Self cannot be bribed, has nothing to do with a bribe, and cannot be tempted by any bribes. When the self is taking any bribes, and succumbing to such temptations, it will stop listening to You. If the self if being deceitful in corruption, then 25

it will stop listening to You—the Self who has the goal of moving ahead on the path of liberation. Once one tastes the fruits of temptation, the bribes, those enemies (kashayas) will not listen. Such worldly interaction—vyavahaar will indeed drag one in the contrary direction only, no? For infinite life times this has been the vyavahaar, and this has been the path, no? That has become the custom. So even if he (the non-Self, Chandulal) is going on that side You should guide and lead it on Your path and goal. An ox sees the old lane and will keep walking on the same track. Now You need to follow the path according to Your goal. Not this way, this other one, tell it, ‘Walk on this one.’ So if one does not take the bribe then those inner enemies—anger, pride, deceit and greed owners, will listen. But once the bribe is taken, the suffering will follow, suffering from all aspects. Hence, one must never deviate or step off from the decided goal—dhyeya. Questioner : What would that bribe be like? Dadashri : One will go and taste it. And in doing so if it felt sweet, one would sit there. Having tasted it once, he would return for a bottle or two of the same. All this is deceptive intent. One wants to be liberated on the path of moksha and also have a deceptive intent, how can the two stay together? One should have a pure and clear inner intent (daanat) without any iota of deception to go taste any promise or lure of pleasure. The problem is the old habit of delving into and tasting the pleasures of the mind and the body (masti). In doing so one tends to linger there enjoying the temporary pleasures therein. 26

Questioner : Is it the intoxication (masti) of the prakruti—the non-Self complex of thoughts, speech and body? Dadashri : What else then? One has been habituated to stay there only, no? So You (the awakened Self) need to tell it—the non-Self, ‘no, I need to go this way, I don’t want to enjoy any masti—transient pleasure, I wish to proceed on my path and attain my goal.’ These mastis of the prakruti (formed complexes) will lead you in a web of entrapment. That which breaks Your goal is your enemy. How can You afford that? Otherwise, this is akin to entertaining sexual thoughts and ideas (abrahmacharya) while wanting to remain on the path of celibacy (brahmacharya). Pleasure will arise within thoughts, but what can happen then? Is it not a deadly fault? Thereafter, will not TB—tuberculosis, a chronic illness creep in the goal? Putrefaction starts invading, no? Here, one has to make the mind so tenacious and firm that whatever happens in this life, even if this body were to leave, in this very life the ‘work’ needs to be finished and accomplished. Such an unflinching decision has to be made. The work then will be definitely accomplished by itself. You have to make this firm for Yourself. There must not be any sloppiness on Your part. Thereafter, whatever happens is correct. Thereafter, there must not be any further uneasiness that it did or did not happen. Everything will come along. What is the extent of one’s authority in this? Deep inner intent (bhaav) that ‘I would like to accomplish this.’ Nischaya—the determining energy of the Self—that authority has to be used. And secondly, no external November 2006

disease like, ‘let me tell dictate and make others listen to (with ego laden speech) this satsang (Akram Vignan),’ and such support of the subtle inner enemies. Care must be exercised in that regard, otherwise new disease will take over within feeding the inner enemies of pride within, and one will ride far off on the wrong path. What will happen to someone like this? There will be no one to bring him back to the main path. Therefore, if You desire liberation do not indulge in ‘talking about this’. If someone asks anything, just say, ‘I do not know.’ To reveal the danger zones and pitfalls on the path of liberation is ‘our’ role. If ‘we’ do not point them out, the whole caravan of liberation can be destroyed. All these mahatmas listening here have come here with tremendous merit karma and hence this speech and topic has expressed in such exact details. Otherwise how is one to know? And why would ‘I’ enter into such depths? It is just that in the course of speech interactions, this matter has come forth. Otherwise who knew that all this inner stuff was going on?

Vignan. It is such that it has never been heard, read or known before. That is why it solves the puzzle (who am I? Who runs this universe?) within an hour. Thereafter this science in the next hour (of the Gnan Vidhi) grants such a medicine that no fear of any kind is experienced and the worldly life continues. Questioner : Actually even at the time of depression also one is aware of and knows that it is happening to the non-Self. Dadashri : That verily is the Self. Instead one becomes clouded and cold with the depressive effects. When this happens to the non-Self, You need to elevate him. What else is to be done? It is not necessary to lift him up daily. Only when the depression comes, then it is necessary to say, ‘I am full of infinite energy, I am the abode of infinite bliss.’ The place where there is never any depression is ‘our’ location. That place is the place of infinite bliss. If you say this then You will swiftly ascend to Your location. This is necessary because you have lost a lot so far, no?
