President’s Letter
Letter From Our President

My Dear Friends,
Every now and then in my life I have been truly overwhelmed with joy. Preparing this Annual Report has been one such time. Your tremendous loyalty and unprecedented giving have allowed D.A. to reach new heights. During my time here, I have had so many experiences with the outstanding dedication of the alumnae, parents, and friends of D.A. Our alumnae come from near and far to attend reunions, participate in the Spring Auction & Benefit, and impart wisdom to our junior class at Career Days. Our parents spend countless hours volunteering and running community-wide events like the Mother-Daughter luncheon and Father-Daughter Dance. Our friends continue to remain loyal to the school through dedicating their time on our Board, attendance at events, and donations in support of our projects.
This report encompasses all giving from July 2017 through June 2018.
Many have demonstrated their tremendous loyalty by supporting our firstever Capital Campaign, ‘Tradition Through Transformation — A Campaign for D.A.‘s Future’. As you look through this report, you will recognize continued devotion to our alma mater. Unprecedented giving has allowed us to raise $4.7 out of the $5 million needed to complete our goal. The notes that accompany these donations are inspiring, such as: “I want to give back to D.A. because of the fine education I received there” or “I want other young people to receive what I did at D.A., a scholarship to attend an extraordinary school.” To all of you, I say thank you. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to restore our building to match the needs of modern students while showcasing the beauty of our home. Thank you for continuing to support our scholarships and allowing us to educate 227 smart, curious, and ambitious young women. Finally, thank you for all you have done to support the traditions while promoting transformation that will allow D.A. to continue to flourish.
We are in our 122nd year of educating intelligent young women, and given the results in this Annual Report, we can rely on a future full of hope. We pledge to continue to strengthen our programmatic possibilities so that our students will continue to bring the Dominican values of prayer, study, community and service to our world. With gratitude galore and confidence in a future full of hope,
Sr. Margaret Ormond, O.P. ‘60
