I want to thank each of you that are here tonight for supporting cancer survivors everywhere. I thank you all just for coming here tonight to support each other. I also want to thank the American Cancer Society for continuing to push for a CURE! The money that all of you have raised will support patient services, life-saving research, prevention, Education and Advocacy efforts…..and this is why we RELAY! Now….LET’S HELP FIND A CURE!!!! You have gathered as a com-
munity determined to support our loved ones who are facing cancer and to remember those whom have lost their battle. So that together we will continue to fight back so that one day NO ONE in Madison or Iron Counties will have to hear those dreadful words – “You have cancer.” Relay For Life gives us the opportunity to remember and celebrate the lives of cancer victims. At Relay, we remember these special people that we have cared for with the lighting of the luminarias. Many of you have purchased and decorated all of these luminarias that are
being placed outside on the luminaria track and also the memorial lanterns. Each one helps to hold a special remembrance or celebration of the person it was made for. I encourage you to go outside and look at all the luminarias. Look at the pictures on them and the special messages that people wrote about their loved ones. This is what Relay is all about. Remembering those we have lost, honoring those who are still with us and celebrating our caregivers. Thank you all for coming and I hope you enjoy this beautiful evening.

Message from Event Chair April Sarakas FROM THE RELAY FOR LIFE PROGRAM
elcome Relay Friends! W Thank you so much for being here tonight and for all of your support throughout the entire year! I hope you all enjoy yourselves! If I can be of assistance to any of you through the next year, please don’t hesitate to ask. If you or a loved one needs assistance from the American Cancer Society at any time, their phone number is 1-800-227-2345. I can be found on Facebook, call or text me at 573-747-6690 or my email is april.sarakas@hotmail.com. I truly want to be your silent friend that you can lean on. The 2016 theme is PAINT YOUR WORLD PURPLE. I hope you have a wonderful time at Relay and please join us again next year. 100 years ago, the American Cancer Society started the fight of a lifetime. Sixty years ago, 1 out of 3 people diagnosed with cancer survived. Today, thanks in part to the work of the American Cancer Society, 2 out of 3 will survive. Let’s make it 3 out of 3! Join us to help finish the fight! The American Cancer Society has made some huge discoveries involving cancer in the past decade. Their dream is to end cancer within the next decade. I would LOVE to see that happen. I dream of a world with NO cancer!
