Asha Bhosle Steals the Show at Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award by Humming ‘Aayega Aanewala’

The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award was given to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on March 24th, this Sunday. During the event in Mumbai, the sister of Lata Mangeshkar and legendary singer Asha Bhosle recalled her late sister by humming to the tune of Lata Mangeshkar’s iconic song, ‘Aayega Aanewala’ on the stage. She recalled the memories of Mangeshkar and her homage to her was one of the most significant parts of the event. She won the hearts of the audience and made people emotional with her tribute.

PM Narendra Modi is the first recipient of the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award. He humbly accepted the award and spoke his mind about the late singer. During the event, he talked about the legacy that Late Lata Mangeshkar has left. He described her artistry as an important part of nation-building. PM Modi has always regarded the late singer as his sister and he was extremely saddened by her death. She died after multiple organ failures in February at the age of 92. Modi addressed her as his sister in his award acceptance speech and said that she was his elder sister apart from being India’s queen of melody. He expressed that he felt fortunate that she loved him like an elder sister. He grieved that this will be the first Rakhi without her.

He also said that Lata Mangeshkar’s voice has charmed the global audience for more than 80 years. She has been an icon from the time of ‘ gramophone, CD, DVD, pen drive, digital music to apps. ’ He said that she gave voice to five generations of actors and made the country proud with her extraordinary musical journey.

Renowned singer and the younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle presented the award to the PM on Sunday. She entertained the audience and PM Modi with the sweet humming of her late sister ' s evergreen soundtrack, ‘Aayega Aanewala’ .

Asha Bhosle became highly emotional and said that their entire family gets together each year on April 24th for the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Awards. It was their father’s 80th death anniversary. She said, ‘I never imagined that a day would come when I have to stand and speak about her like this. ’
