Georgia Real Estate Commission – How Do I Get My License? Having a real estate license is necessary to help buyers/sellers with making property transactions. It’s an approval from your state that allows you to work as real estate professional without any legal obligations. The requirements to get license include: 1. Completion of required education 2. Background check clearance

3. Taking Georgia real estate exam and pass it 4. Applying for the state license


Completing Required Education: Several Georgia real estate commission approved schools provide required education

to prepare for the exam. The schools require specific number of hours in order to complete the course. The time period of completing the course is 75 hours. Clear A Background Check: To clear a background check, you must provide a crime report from Georgia Crime Information Center indicating that no criminal record was found against you. The report is valid for 60 days and only costs $25. Taking Georgia Real Estate Exam: Once you have cleared the background check and completed the required education hours, you are ready to take the exam. But to sit in exam, the applicants must register Themselves and bring Lawful Presence Notarized Affidavit to the exam.


Applying For License: The candidates may apply for an inactive GA real estate license at testing center. But if you want an active license; you must bring a sponsoring broker statement with you, since the real estate agents are not allowed to operate independently. $170 if a person applies within three months of taking exam.

If the applicant takes more than three but less than 12 months, the fee will be $340.00.
