The O-H-M [Otsego-HerkimerMontgomery] Holstein Club held their annual dairy show on Thursday, July 21st at the Fonda Fairgrounds. Tim Abbott, noted cattle judge from Vermont, placed the 92 outstanding cattle as well as judged 4 classes of youth showmanship. Winning the showmanship competition was Master Showman - Morgan Hodge; Reserve Master Showman-Luke Byma; and Honorable Mention-Justin Wolfe. Twenty-three junior members, ages under 8 to 20 years old, participated in special age groups.
Champions of the Senior Show were won by Elmvue Farm of Fonda and Ovaltop Holsteins of Richfield Springs. Jr. Champion was Ovaltop Warrior Ripley-Red, 1st place Fall Yearling Heifer owned by Alexis Wolfe and Reserve Jr. Champion was the first place Spring Yearling, Elmvue Sidekick Rhiann owned by Elmvue Farm. Honorable Mention was awarded to Rivercross Farm with the first place Winter Calf, Rivercross Denver Ritz. The Senior and Grand Champion of the Sr. Show was awarded to the first place 4 year old milking cow, Garay Doorman Bree-ET owned by Elmvue Farm; Reserve Sr. & Reserve Grand Champion honors went to the first place Aged cow, Ovaltop Dback Noleta owned by Ovaltop Holsteins; and the Honorable Mention Sr. & HM Grand Champion was awarded to Elmvue Farm’s first place Jr. 3 Year old-Ghislair Sdkck Framboise-ET.
Junior Show Champions were awarded to Alexis Wolfe’s winning Fall Yearling, Ovaltop Warrior RipleyRed. Reserve Jr. Champion went to Kaylee Byma’s Fall Calf. CollinsPride WR Olivia-Red; and Honorable Mention Jr. Champion honors went to Charlise Canary summer yearling, Canary Sidekick June. In the Junior Show the Intermediate Champion, B&L Diamondback Mystery was also declared the Grand Champion. And the Reserve Intermediate Champion was also declared the Reserve Grand Champion for Lance & Daniel McClure with Pineland Diamond Trinket. Winning the Senior Championships were two entries from Jr. member Stephen Ulman.
Although the number of entries for this year’s show were down from previous years, the quality of the cattle was exceptional. Elmvue Farm was awarded the Premier Exhibitor of the show while Ovaltop Holsteins won the Premier Breeder honors.
