Harare otherwise known as Salisbury or the Sunshine city is the capital of Zimbabwe.With wide open spaces that the city provides with the pleasant sub tropical climate one hardly needs to guess why it is affectionately called as the sunshine city. This is the most populous city of the country and therefore you find people from various places calling the city as their abode. Despite the modern buildings that adorn the city, the city dwellers have strong sense of cultural and historical heritage. The love for folk art forms can be clearly seen when one walks through the various opens spaces and gardens that are in the city. With the exquisite Shona soft stone carvings and Chapungu sculpture parks with its black serpentine rock sculptures displayed by the various great artists of the city, it is clear this is a place that treasures its traditional art forms. Not only just traditional art forms but its appreciation for history can be seen the architecture as well. The old buildings and infrastructure that are preserved as historical monuments that are the Robert Mugabe road and the brilliant Mining pension fund building are truly a sight that takes you back into past. One can also visit the national gallery in the city that holds an exquisite national collection of art and traveling exhibitions at the international level as well.  Another thing that makes Harare a must visited city is the International Carnival. Thisis a weeklong annual festival that houses series events that celebrate theculture of the country. The festival is aimed at encouraging arts, historicaland cultural heritage of Zimbabwe. With its appreciation for arts it serves tounite the people from all walks of life as well. This festival celebrates the diversity and the various cultures that can be found in the country, it brings joy and harmony among the people which connects them to each other. Such a carnival is truly a sight to behold; it invites you in with its peaceful and heartwarming colors and jubilation.  The objectives of the carnival are to preserve the intangible cultural heritage of Zimbabwe, to promote the development of arts and cultural industries into a viable economic enterprise, to increase


the brand of Harare as destination for tourism and to promote a social gathering. Moreover, the carnival creates employment through it float and costumes production creating earnings for workers as well as empowering the artists. It establishes the money generating stream production and sales of carnival merchandise which improves the livelihoods of the people. And last but not the least it attract major tourism. Therefore to experience the magic that is the International carnival in the city one could easily afford cheap flights to Harare from UK as the city hosts an airport which is the major gate way for flights into the country
