Hey Division 74! Can you believe the summer is almost over!? The next time I write you a newsletter I will probably be sitting in the library after work thinking about how much homework I still have to do. That’s really sad to think about, but please enjoy the rest of your summer while it’s still here! In the past couple of months I have had the wonderful opportunity to take a cruise to Mexico, a school trip to Japan, and a trip to Disney Land for Key Club ICON! It has been crazy, but totally worth it! Just today I returned from my third Key Club board meeting in Washington. At the meeting I made an entire notebook full of fun ideas for starting the school year off right and I can’t wait to tell you all of them! Rally in the Valley 2014 was a wonderful success in many ways and I’m proud to hear that most all of the attendees had a wonderful time. As the school year starts up in just a few weeks keep service at the front of your mind and think about why Key Club is important to you. Thank you! In Love and Service, Daisy Marshall; LtG

Rally in the Valley 2014 was an exciting adventure, to say the least! Key Clubbers from Division 74, 72, and 82 were invited* to join together for a weekend at the beautiful Camp Wilani. It was fun, informative, and relaxing. A true bonding experience! We even had a ‘pie an LtG’ auction that resulted in $99 for the Eliminate project and some very sticky hairdos for us!

We spent time learning about club officer positions, the Eliminate project, Circle K, DCON, and more. We also had the amazing opportunity to talk about human trafficking with Jessica and Amin- the founders of Red Light Traffic!

We also had tons of fun and games as well! We swam, hiked, zip lined, climbed, and played games like electricity and musical chairs. The Chipmunk Tribune Volume 2 Issue 5

Do you have a great idea for a service project, but you don’t know how to fund it? Apply for a YOF grant!

The YOF fund is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation

This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for higher education. The Youth Opportunities Fund is established through a portion of your Key Club International dues and through the purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships.

Go to http://www.keyclub.org/service/fund/yof.aspx (this link is also posted on our Divisional Facebook page) and follow the application. Be sure to outline your plan clearly and specifically!

The Eliminate Project

The campaign has already raised more than 53 million dollars and has eliminated MNT from 34 countries! The goal that UNICEF and Kiwanis have set is to raise $100 million by the completion of the project in 2015. If that goal is reached, it would be enough to successfully eliminate Maternal and Neonatal tetanus from the planet entirely. We can’t do it without you! The Chipmunk Tribune Volume 2 Issue 5

At ICON, Key Club International selected our new International Trustees, and they have just been assigned to their new districts! The Pacific Northwest was assigned two amazing sister districts; Georgia District and KIWINS and we are very excited to be represented by Tashrima Hossain! Here’s what she has to say. Hey, Pacific-Northwest! My name is Tashrima Hossain, and I’d like to introduce myself as the new International Trustee for your district. It is such an honor to be in your service, primarily by ensuring that your voices are heard at the international level during the upcoming year. I’m excited to join the PNW moose; I’ve already received so much enthusiasm from the Board, I’ve heard many great things about PNW, and I can’t wait to see all the great achievements your district has in store. To let you know a little about myself, I am from Cypress, Texas, which is a suburban area adjacent to the Houston border. In addition to Key Club, I devote much of my time to debate and Student Council— which often leaves with very little time for sleep! As a result, I’m a bit of a grandma, and I like spending much of my free time sleeping, reading, or just hanging out with friends. For those of you who would like to know more about my duties as International Trustee, I have a few basic responsibilities: attending International Board meetings, participating in a maximum of two district visits, and acting as a representative of the international level of Key Club. In addition, Governor Lisa and I completed a Governor-Trustee agreement, which identified the main expectations Lisa has of me, as your district’s Trustee; many of said goals revolve around constant communication and building positive Sister District relations—all of which are means to ensure that I effectively represent your views on the international level. Additionally, I serve with Jenalee Beazley, Rip Livingston, Liz Moore, and Nicole Lema on the Growth and Communications Committee. There, we predominantly focus on fostering a connection between advisors and Kiwanis clubs, making Key Club a school-wide name, creating a “cool factor” for Key Club, empowering local clubs to publicize their work, creating a strategic growth plan for KCI, and creating an annual club census. We already have a very specific set of goals and action steps for the first quarter; I plan to update you all with any progress in that arena. During my term, I will stay committed to the goals I campaigned with, but more than that, I intend to actively serve as a resource for you all. If you have questions about amendments, elections, service, or general Key Club knowledge, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m here as a resource, friend, and assistant in any way you may need. Call me, email me, Facebook me— I’m always ready to lend a hand.
