Daniel Miller My Motivations This opportunity is undoubtedly very important, and in a way, critical for me because it would give me the hands on experience that I need to obtain in the world of civil society studies and nonprofit organizations. By participating in the work that goes on in these programs, and looking at actual case studies is a concrete and tangible way in which to learn about what the field involves. Knowing that, I feel that I can truly get involved, working with other students, talking with people in the organization, and sharing in the enthusiasm for the work. This being the first door of many that I would walk through in this field, I know that I could always relate back to my very first experiences and the acquired firsthand knowledge that I had not only studying but working with a organization focused on the advancements of civil society. Letting one's hands become a little dirty is equally important, as the knowledge you acquire in the classroom, and acquiring these invaluable skills face to face with real people, is what motivates me to complete my goals. In conclusion, the goals that have been looming over the horizon for someone about to finish their undergraduate studies are soon upon me. However, I know that had I the experiences a trip such as this would grant me, my goals would be within reach and I can take another step in my hopes of being accepted into the Daniel J. Evan’s school of Public Affairs. Ultimately, I want to learn and grow, increasing my utility in helping others to discover how to reach their full potential.
